Patricia Lynn Kilby, 54

Patricia Lynn Kilby, 54, passed away Sunday, June 20, 2010, at East Georgia Regional Medical Center in Statesboro. She was born in Fernandina Beach, FL, and lived most of her life in Glennville. She attended Glennville High School and Georgia Southern University.
She is preceded in death by her parents, A. G. and Ruth Kilby. Survivors include her son, Jeremy Bacon of Jesup; sister and brother - in - law, Kelly and Russell Guyett of Hinesville; niece and nephew, Lacey Kicklighter and Josh Guyett of Hinesville, and several uncles, nieces and nephews.
Graveside Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 24, 2010, at Glennville Memorial Gardens.
Brannen - Kennedy Funeral Home, Glennville Chapel, is in charge of the arrangements.

Lois Findley Lynn, 87

Mrs. Lois Findley Lynn, 87, died Monday, June 21, 2010, at Memorial Health Medical Center in Savannah. The Tattnall County native, daughter of James Lester and Annie B. Findley, was a homemaker, a farmer and a nurse. She received an LPN degree while raising five children. She loved her church, Cedar Creek Primitive Baptist Church, and was a member over 60 years. Lois was preceded in death by her parents; the father of her children, Earl Lynn; siblings, Marvin and Clifford Findley, Thelma Lynn, Evelyn Sikes and an infant brother.
She is survived by a son, Barry (Rita) Lynn of Cobbtown; four daughters, Angela (Jerry) Alexander of Collins, Marsha (Frank) Watson of Lyons, Francine Lynn Draughn of Collins and Cynthia (Danny) Kelly of Conyers; sisters, Reba F. Smith of Cobbtown and Peggy F. Sikes of Bowden; loving caregivers, Holly Thigpen and Versia Sharpe; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Visitation was held Wednesday, at Cedar Creek Primitive Baptist Church near Collins. Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 24 at 10:00 a.m. at the church with burial in the church cemetery. Elder Paul Thomas will officiate assisted by Elder Tommy McGee. Pallbearers will be Larry Sikes, Ricky Sikes, Keith Smith, Clyde Lynn, David Stewart and Corbitt Beasley.

Reverend James Irvin Purcell Sr, 90

Reverend James Irvin Purcell Sr, 90, went to his heavenly home, Saturday, June 19, 2010, after an extended illness. He passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends. Rev. Purcell was an ordained Southern Baptist minister of the gospel and pastored several local churches in his 50 + years in the ministry. He was a native of Tattnall County and a member of Elza Baptist Church. He was an alumnus of Glennville High School, Mercer University and Southeastern Seminary at Wake Forest, NC, where he graduated in May of 1962 with a bachelor of Divinity Degree. He retired from Civil Service at Ft. Stewart and was a proud Veteran of World War II. He served in the 15th Army Air Corps serving with the 98th Bomber Group (H) 343rd Bomber Squadron. He was an engineer and gunner on a B - 24 bomber where he saw action in Italy and Germany, successfully completing 48 missions over enemy territory. He was a part of the famous “Pyramidiers, ” the first official bomb group in combat, and was in action from July 1942 until April 1945. He is preceded in death by his parents, Enoch and Mary Purcell, brother and sister in law, Eugene and Gainell Purcell, a granddaughter, Merriam Natividad Purcell.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Merriam P. Purcell of Glennville; daughter and son - in - law, Karen and Randy Walker of Glennville; sons and daughters - in - law, James Jr., (Jimmy) and Norma Purcell of Prattville, AL, and Ronald and Denise Purcell of Destin, FL; brother and sister - in - law, Leeroy and Mary Purcell of Glennville; grandchildren, Stephanie McWilliams (John), Charles Walker, James Purcell, Norma Kidd (Chris); great granddaughter, Haleigh McWilliams of Glennville, and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 23, 2010, at the Chapel of Brannen Kennedy Funeral Home with Reverends Kenny Edwards, Michael Howard and Kenneth Green officiating. Burial followed at Georgia Veterans Memorial cemetery with Military Honors.
Pallbearers were Glenn Purcell, Wade Purcell, Billy Purcell, John Purcell, Shawn Purcell and Justin McLoud.
Remembrances may be made to Southern Care Hospice or a church or charity of one’s choice.

Mary Lee Spence, 89

Ms. Mary Lee Spence, age 89, passed away Sunday June 20, 2010, at Ogeechee Area Hospice Inpatient Center in Statesboro. The Coffee County native had lived in Reidsville most of her life. She was a homemaker and a charter member of the Abundant Faith Pentecostal Holiness Church in Reidsville.
Ms. Spence is preceded in death by her husband, Fred H. Spence and a son, Roger Spence.
She is survived by her daughter and son - in - law, Linda and Bob McBride of Sylvania; two sons and daughter - in - laws, Larry L. and Mildred Spence of Reidsville and Steve and Joy Spence of Rincon; sister, Vera Bowman of Jacksonville, FL; 12 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, four great - great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services were conducted Tuesday, June 22, 2010, 11 a.m. from the Reidsville Chapel of Bradley B. Anderson Funeral Home with the Reverend John Price and Sister Gladys Lindsay officiating.
Interment followed in the Reidsville City Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Hunter Oglesby, Chace Clark, Christopher Clark, Brandon Schier, T.J. Schier, Spencer Houston and Peyton Houston.

Susie Collins, 74

Mrs. Susie Collins, 74, of Reidsville, died Tuesday, June 8, 2010.
Mrs. Collins lived most of her life in Treutlen County before moving to Tattnall County in 1974. She was preceded in death by her parents, Horace and Thelma Davis Beasley; and her husband, Warnell Collins. She was retired from Oxford Manufacturing Company, Vidalia and was a member of Bethsaida Baptist Church, Treutlen County.
Survivors include two sons and daughters - in - law, Elbert and Cathy McCullough and Steve and Debbie McCullough, all of Soperton; three daughters and two sons - in - law, Cynthia McCullough, and Carolyn and Wilmer Beecher, all of Reidsville, and Patsy and Norman Miller, of Soperton; four sisters and two brothers - in - law, Lillian Richardson, Soperton, Jesteen and James McGahee, Kibbee, Naomi Powell, Portal, Rebia and Roy Faircloth, Juliette; a brother and sister - in - law, Walter and Mary Beasley, De Funiak Springs, FL; 18 grandchildren; 20 great - grandchildren; one great - great - grandchild; and six step - grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday, June 11, 2010, in the Chapel of Sammons Funeral Home with the Rev. Randy Sykora officiating. Burial followed in Bethsaida Baptist Church Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Marty Braddy, Robert Beecher, Lee Watkins, Billy Williamson, Alvin Williamson, and John Lewis Richardson.
The honorary escort included Jr. Stephens, Harrell Dorsey, Billy Norris, Wade Smith, and Billy Morris.

Omena Toy Tootle Durrence, 98

Mrs. Omena Toy Tootle Durrence, age 98, passed away Sunday, June 13, 2010, at her residence in Glennville, GA, under the care of her family and Ogeechee Hospice. She was a homemaker and a servant to her family. She loved to cook and crochet. Ms. Toy was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Also she was very faithful as a member of Loves Chapel Primitive Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her husband,
Elder Jesse William Durrence Sr., a son, Robert Theron Durrence, a daughter, Mathadeen Durrence Kicklighter; grandsons, Kevin Kicklighter, Randy and Joey Durrence; parents, Carlos and Hattie Mae Tootle; two sisters and two brothers.
She is survived by two sons, Jesse William Durrence Jr. and Jackey Franklin Durrence both of Glennville; sister, Loyce Yattaw of Rhode Island; 13 grandchildren, several great and great - great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday June 15, 2010, from the Glennville Chapel of Bradley B. Anderson Funeral Home, with Elders W.H. Durrence and Gary Johnson officiating. Interment followed in the Beards Creek Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Mark Durrence, Ken Mitchell, Anthony James, Dustin Wilson, Pete Medlin, Landen Wilson, Tyler Austin, and Stevie Hinson.

Hugie A. Harrelson, 46

Hugie A. Harrelson, age 46 passed away Thursday June 10, 2010 at East Georgia Regional Medical Center in Statesboro. He had lived in Collins most of his life. Hugie was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Claxton and attended Full Gospel Tabernacle in Collins. He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Irene Weaver Harrelson; brother, Billy Harrelson; sisters, Regina Harrelson and Dorothy Hodges.
He is survived by two brothers, Danny Weaver of Reidsville and Emory “Bud” Harrelson of Hagan; a sister, Tonia Fletcher of Collins; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral Services were held 3:00 p.m. Sunday June 13, 2010, from the Reidsville Chapel of Bradley B. Anderson Funeral Home with the Reverend Andrew Nelms officiating. Interment will follow in the Collins Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jerry Douglas, Kenny DeLoach, Kenny Gibson, Jamie Deal, Jeff Lynn and Ray Collins.

Nell Holland Paradice, 79

Nell Holland Paradice, 79, of the Hillview Community died Saturday, June 12, 2010, at Ogeechee Area Hospice in Statesboro. The Tattnall County native and lifelong resident was the daughter of J.D. and Marie Collins Holland. She began her nursing career at Pulaski Nursing Home and retired from the Candler County Hospital after 15 years. Nell loved crocheting, knitting and mastered most arts and crafts that she tried. She cooked with love and not recipes. After retirement, she pursued her love of genealogy by authoring a book about her family, From Collins To Paradice. She was a member of the Rogers Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William “Bill” Paradice; an infant son; a sister, Margie H. Cowart Swiatko and a granddaughter, Ruth Paradice.
Survivors are four sons and daughters - in - law: Greg and Karen Paradice of the Hillview Community, Mike and Liz Paradice of Ocala, FL, Paul and Lisa Paradice of the Hillview Community and John and Judy Paradice of Kempner, TX; 12 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Cobbtown Chapel, with Rev. Gerald Dorr officiating. Burial followed in the Evergreen Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jeremy Paradice, Ian Paradice, Kyle Paradice, Danny Cowart, Charles Cowart and George Holland.

Mary Bell White, 93

Ms. Mary Bell White, age 93 passed away Thursday, June 10, 2010 at Toombs Health Care under the care of Southern Care Hospice. She had lived most of her life in Jesup before moving to this area three weeks ago. She was a homemaker who loved gardening. She enjoyed cutting her grass with a push lawnmower until the age of 84. She is preceded in death by her husband Joe Brown White and her sons, Bobby, Jerry, and Charles White.
She is survived by her daughters, Betty Woods of Moncks Corner, SC, Marilyn Dent of Albany, Linda Miranda of Alston, GA, and Brenda Wallace of Jesup; sister - in - law, Vonnie Ware of Dublin, GA; 21 grandchildren, several great, and great - great - grandchildren.
Graveside funeral services were conducted Saturday, June 12, 2010, from the Spring Grove Baptist Church cemetery in Jesup with the Reverends Andy Williams and Chester Proctor officiating.
Bradley B. Anderson Funeral Home, Glennville Chapel, served the White family.
