Mary Denson, 58

Mrs. Mary Denson, 58, passed away early Wednesday morning, May 21, 2008, at her residence under the care of Ogeechee Area Hospice. The Saint Louis, MO, native had lived in Collins the past 15 years. She was a homemaker and a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Vidalia.
She is survived by her husband, Felix Ronnie Denson, of Collins; a daughter, Patricia Ann Cribbs of Collins; a son, Felix Ronnie Denson Jr. of Maryland; two brothers, Art Matlock of St. Louis and Jack Matlock of Illinois; four grandchildren, Ashley, Korey and Samantha Denson and StevieRay Fowler; a nephew, Steve Matlock of St. Louis; a niece, Cathy Danver of St. Louis.
Funeral services were held Friday, May 23, 2008, at the Chapel of Bradley B. Anderson Funeral Home with Father Angel officiating.
Bradley B. Anderson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Hazel Johnson Folsom, 70

Hazel Johnson Folsom, 70, passed away Monday, May 26, 2008, at her residence under the care of Ogeechee Area Hospice. The Wayne County native had lived in this area all of her life. She was a retired Poultry Farmer, homemaker and an avid fisherman. She is a member of Ebenezer Free Will Baptist Church and preceded in death by her husband, R.D. Folsom, Jr., and parents, Billy and Deloris Johnson.
She is survived by her daughters and sons - in - law, Sylvia and Danny McKinney of Camden, TN and Peggy and Scott Pedrick of Claxton; sons and daughters - in - law, Royce and Jodonne Folsom and Brent and Tina Folsom all of Glennville; sisters, Jane O’Berry and Charlotte Wells both of Ludowici; eight grandchildren; two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 28, 2008, at Ebenezer Freewill Baptist Church with Dr. Rick Cason officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers were Billy O’Berry, Wiley Baxter, Jeffery Folsom, Rob Kroll, Taylor Kroll and Dennis Stanfield.
Remembrances may be made to Ogeechee Area Hospice, P.O. Box 531, Statesboro, GA, 30458.

Ed S. Lynch, 89

Ed S. Lynch, 89, of Collins, GA, died Sunday, May 25 at Ogeechee Area Hospice in Statesboro, GA. Ed was born in Chattanooga, TN, and was preceded in death by parents, LW and Sarah Lynch and six brothers. Ed served in the Army in World War II and saw action in New Guinea. He was employed at Eastern Airlines for 37 years and was Station Manager in Lake Charles, Louisiana before transferring to Atlanta in 1966. He retired in 1983 and found a great hobby in making many beautiful pieces of stained glass for family and friends until Parkinson’s disease and cancer forced him to stop.
While living in Williamson, GA, Ed was actively involved for many years in the cancer support group in Griffin, where he and his wife were members of the Hospital Auxiliary. In 2006, they moved to Collins, GA. because of failing health and to be close to their daughter.
Ed was a member of Reidsville United Methodist Church and the Lillian Eason Sunday School Class.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Florence (Flo) Burgner Lynch; son, Scott Lynch of Smyrna, GA., and daughters and sons - in - law, Peggy and Don Mozley of Chesapeake Beach, MD, and Sue and Chuckie Woodcock, of Collins, GA.; three grandchildren, Tim (Kristin) Mozley of Atlanta, Blake (Brian) Thews of NC, and Michael (Monica) Akins of Hagan, GA.; two step - grandchildren, Tabitha (JT) Allred and Charlie Woodcock, of Collins, GA. and eight great - grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, and special in - laws, Betty and AG Grant of Jacksonville, AR, and Charlotte Burgner and Everett Burgner of Chattanooga, TN.
Private committal services will be conducted Friday May 30, 2008, at the Georgia Memorial Veterans cemetery in Glennville.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 31, at Reidsville United Methdist Church at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Building Fund at Reidsville United Methodist Church, Box 218, Reidsville, GA 30453 or Ogeechee Area Hospice, 200 Donehoo St., Statesboro, GA 30458.

Betty Ann Coney Middleton, 64

Mrs. Betty Ann Coney Middleton, 64, of Winston - Salem, NC, entered this life on October 23, 1943. She accepted Christ into her life at an early age. She entered eternal rest quietly at Candler General Hospital Saturday morning, May 24, 2008, at 7:00 a.m.
She was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Jewel Middleton (JW). To this union one child was born. She leaves to cherish her loving memories, Mr. Christopher Joseph Middleton and Crystal Gibbs Middleton of North Las Vegas, NV; sisters, Mrs. Verdie Cooper and Rosemary Coney, both of Glennville; one loving granddaughter, Ms. Christi Denise Smith; one sister - in - law, Mrs. Irvine Middleton of Coastal Manor of Ludowici, GA; three aunts, Mrs. Ruthie Mae Coney of Claxton, Aretha Fair and Mae Bell Richardson, both of Glennville; one uncle, Mr. and Mrs. George Fair of Bartow, FL; one god - daughter, Lisa Conner; a special cousin, Mrs. Rosa Tyler McKinnon of New York, NY. and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 29, 2008, at 1:00 p.m. at Beulah No. 1 Missionary Baptist Church in Glennville (Mendes) GA, with Pastor Freddie Marshall presiding. Burial will follow at Robert’s Chapel Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be James Grant, David Richardson, Herbert Fair, Delvin Scott, Clinton Fair and Jimmy Ford. Honorary pallbearers will be Deacons of Outreach Ministries.

Eva Claire Jarriel Moody, 78

Eva Claire Jarriel Moody, 78, passed away Friday, May 23, 2008, at Cedar Plantation Assisted Living in Metter, under the care of Ogeechee Area Hospice. The Tattnall County native had lived in this area all of her life. She was a graduate of Georgia Southern College and retired from Tattnall County public schools as an elementary school teacher. She was a member of Ella Grove Baptist Church and was preceded in death by a sister, Edith West.
She is survived by her husband, Encil Moody of Glennville; daughter and son - in - law, Linda and Sammy Hall of Milledgeville; sons and daughters - in - law, Jack and Dean Moody and Michael and Lenora Moody all of Glennville; brother, Jerry Jarriel of Collins; sisters, Faye Anderson of Collins and Marguerite Harrison of Savannah; seven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 27, 2008, from the chapel of Brannen - Kennedy Funeral Home with Elder Tom Sollosi and Reverend Tommy Ray officiating. Burial followed in the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Sam Hall, Matthew Hall, James Weitman, Harry Ambrose, Barry McGlashan and Jerry Jarriel.
Remembrances may be made to Ogeechee Area Hospice, P.O. Box 531, Statesboro, GA, 30458 or Cedar Plantation Assisted Living, Alzheimer’s Unit, 46637 Hwy 46 East, Metter, GA, 30439.

William Herbert Rewis, 76

Mr. William Herbert Rewis, age 76, passed away on Friday, May 23, 2008, at Community Hospice of Vidalia, Georgia after a short illness. Mr. Rewis was born in Cobbtown, GA, to Clifford and Amanda Rewis. He lived in Florida for 27 years, returning to Georgia in 1995. Mr. Rewis was an avid outdoorsman with hobbies that included fishing and working on boats and motors. He also enjoyed cats and dogs, especially one special dog named “Candy.”
Mr. Rewis is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Ervin Rewis and Gene Rewis, one sister, Lessie Register, and one grandson, Jeff Rewis. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary Lou Rewis; one son and daughter - in - law, Buddy (H.C.) Rewis and Adrianna Rewis and one daughter and son - in - law Linda and Joe Smith, all of Lyons; two sisters, Lottie Moody of Ludowici and Lois Moore of Macon; five grandchildren, Pamela Blount and Jason Rewis, both of Vidalia, Joe D. Smith Jr. and Giovanni Rewis, both of Lyons, and Nicole Beach of Bluffton, SC. Mr. Rewis had nine special great - grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, May 27, 2008, from the Chapel at Murchison Funeral Home with Reverend Albert White and Reverend Michael Plowman officiating. Interment followed at Lakeview Memorial Gardens.

Gladys Rogers Sharpe, 95

Mrs. Gladys Rogers Sharpe, 95, passed away Wednesday afternoon, May 21, 2008, at her residence. The Tattnall County native was one of 15 children born to Otto and Minnie Hollingsworth Rogers. She had lived in this area for most of her life and was a homemaker and a member of the Pine Grove Baptist Church of Reidsville. She loved to fish and work in her garden. Granny, as she was well known, was a loving mother, grandmother and a friend that will be deeply missed. She was preceded in death by her husband, Foy Sharpe.
She is survived by her daughter, Joyce Sharpe of Reidsville; a son, Roger Sharpe of Collins; granddaughter, Mikki and Ronnie Kilgore of Lyons; a grandson, Jessie and Dena Sharpe of Collins; three great - grandchildren, Kaleb Johnson, Dakota and Makenzie Kilgore; two step great - grandsons, Brandon and Blake Phillips; numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral Services were conducted Friday, May 23, 2008, from the Pine Grove Baptist Church of Reidsville. Interment followed in the Church Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to: Pine Grove Baptist Church cemetery Fund, c/o Ronnie Rogers, Tom Rogers Road, Collins, GA 30421.

Roland H. “Tiny” Walker, 51

Roland H. “Tiny” Walker, 51, passed away, Friday, May 23, 2008, at his residence in Jesup. The Tattnall County native had lived in this area all of his life. He was a carpenter and a member of Glennville United Pentecostal Church.
He is survived by five brothers, Freeman Walker of Jesup, C.H. Blocker, Roy Walker, Douglas Walker, Noland Walker, all of Glennville; eight sisters, Mollie Logan, Pauline Huber, Rita Walker, all of Glennville, Retha Holland of Ludowici, Mary Moody of Ludowici, Mildred Strickland of Pooler, Lois Bryant of Eden, Myrtle Williams of Metter; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 29, 2008, at 11 a.m. from the Chapel of Brannen - Kennedy Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Glennville Memorial Gardens.

LeRoy Colson, Jr., 79

LeRoy Colson, Jr., 79, passed away Friday, May 16, 2008, at his residence under the care of Ogeechee Area Hospice. The Evans County native had lived in this area all of his life. He was retired from the Georgia Department of Transportation and worked with Bob’s Auto Parts and was a farmer. He was a member of Watermelon Creek Baptist Church and was preceded in death by his wife, Imogene Ray Colson.
He is survived by his children, Wanda and Raymond Pettigrew of Claxton, Barbara Hatcher of Thomasville, GA, and Randy and Suzanne Colson of Glennville; sister and brother - in - law, Lutrell and Lemuel McCorkle of Register, GA; brother and sister - in - law, Edward and Martha Colson of Claxton and Floyd and Elaine Colson of Warran, OH; 11 grandchildren, 23 great - grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Sunday, May 18, 2008, at Watermelon Creek Baptist Church with Reverend Steve Miller officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers were Aaron Rushing, Randy Colson Jr., Johnathan Waters, Eddie Hendrix, Keith Kennedy and Cliff Conley. Honorary pallbearers were James I. “Duck” DeLoach, Jerry Burkhalter, Charles DeLoach, Boby Whitlow, Jason Whitlow, Jackie Durrence, Joe Odom, Charles Moody and Don Joyal.

Arthur Grant, 75

Mr. Arthur Grant, 75, passed away Thursday morning at the Tattnall Health Care Center in Reidsville under the care of Southern Care Hospice. The North Carolina native had lived in this area many years and was a retired farmer.
He is survived by the loving staff and residents of the Tattnall Health Care Center.
Graveside funeral services were conducted Monday, May 19, 2008, at the Reidsville City cemetery with Rev. Frederick Fondren, Chaplain of Southern Care Hospice, officiating at the service.
