Ruth Flowers Pierce, 68

Ruth Flowers Pierce, 68, passed away Wednesday, April 2, 2008, at her residence under the care of Pearls of Life Hospice. The Tattnall County had lived in Glennville all of her life and was retired from Civil Service at Ft. Stewart. She was a member of Stoney Hill Free Will Baptist Church.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Pierce; parents, Rudolph and Bertie Flowers and brother, Randall Flowers.
She is survived by her daughter and son - in - law, Crystal and Anthony Trent of Glennville; sister and brother - in - law, Bobbie and Arlie Tucker of Dexter; brothers and sisters - in - law, Jackie and Sheila Flowers and Kent and Joyce Flowers, all of Glennville; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Friday, April 4, 2008, from the chapel of Brannen - Kennedy Funeral Home, with Reverend Harris Nix officiating. Burial followed in the DeLoach Family Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Ben Boutwell, Derek Stanfield, Ronald Todd, Carlton Todd, Tommy Gene Reddish and Bennie DeLoach.
Brannen - Kennedy Funeral Home, Glennville Chapel, was in charge of the arrangements.

Katie Ruth Tootle, 85

Katie Ruth Tootle, 85, died Wednesday, April 2, 2008, at her residence under the care of Ogeechee Area Hospice, surrounded by her family and friends. The Tattnall County native had live most of her life in Glennville except for about 20 years spent in Florida. She was a retired beautician and homemaker. She was an active member of Oak Grove Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her son, Jerome (Jerry) Moody and her parents, Willie and Bessie Tootle.
She is survived by daughters and sons - in - law, Judi and Clark Pearson of Orlando, FL and Debra and Michael Dasher of Glennville; brothers, Clyde Tootle of Glennville and L.C. Tootle of Lyons; sister Dora Jane Kemp of Groveland, FL; grandchildren, Brett Thomas and Lindsey Walker; great - grandchildren, Waylon Thomas, Ethan and Addison Walker; many nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, April 5, 2008, at Oak Grove Baptist Church with Dr. Charles (Bucky) Strickland officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers were Randy Wilson, Toby Wilson, Kline Tootle, Cary Tootle, Alex Tootle and Kenny Tootle. Honorary pallbearers were Richard Blanton, Jimmie Walker, Robert Dubberly, Kenneth Blocker, Ralph Fitzgerald, Quinton Rush and Wilbert Knight.
Remembrances may be made to Ogeechee Area Hospice, P.O. Box 531, Statesboro, GA 30458.

Dolores Vallin, 70

Dolores Vallin, 70, died Wednesday, April 2, 2008, at her residence under the care of Southern Care Hospice. She was a Texas native, moving to Tattnall County 21 years ago, living the past two years in Metter. She was a homemaker. She is survived by her five daughters, Mary Lou Lincoln of Lubbock, TX, Irene Vallin of Metter, Angelia Villanueva of Collins, Dora Trevino of Collins, Nancy Martinez of Brooklet; five sons, Joe Vallin Jr. of Brooklet, Danny Vallin of Petersburg, TX, Saul Vallin of Lubbock, TX, George Vallin of Brooklet and Ruben Vallin of Vidalia; five sisters and four brothers, all of Texas, 30 grandchildren, five great - grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Saturday, April 6, 2008, at Carter Funeral Chapel with Pastor Randy Watts officiating. Burial followed at The Glennville Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers were Joe Vallin Jr., Danny Vallin, Saul Vallin, George Vallin, Ruben Vallin, Ramiro Vallin and Felipe Vallin.
Carter Funeral Home of Glennville was in charge of all the arrangements.

Twila Lanier Waters, 80

Twila Lanier Waters, 80, passed away Wednesday, April 2, 2008, at Hospice Savannah after an extended illness. The Tattnall County native has lived in Glennville all of her life. She was retired as a manager of Flash Foods Convenience Store in Glennville and a homemaker. She was a member of Harmony United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Grady C. “Judie” Waters.
She is survived by her daughter and son - in - law, Kay and Jeff Clayton of Riverside, CA; sister, Sally Parker of Reidsville; grandchildren, Bradley and Brooke Clayton of Riverside, CA and several nieces and nephews;
Funeral services were held Monday, April 7, 2008, at Harmony United Methodist Church with Reverend Truett Leveritt officiating. Burial followed in the Church cemetery.
Pallbearers were Mitchell Speer, Lee Tootle, Mike Walker, Stoy Martin, Princeton Pirkle and Steve Long.

Judy Sims White, 64

Judy Sims White, 64, passed away early Thursday morning, April 3, at the Tattnall Community Hospital. The Vero Beach, FL, native had lived in Sebastian, FL, most of her life before moving to Collins three years ago. She was a homemaker and attended Full Gospel Tabernacle in Collins. While in Florida she was a member of the Crossroads Christian Fellowship. Mrs. White was preceded in death by a daughter, Schwane Renee’ White.
She is survived by: her husband of 45 years, Gene White of Collins; daughter and son - in - law, Kim and Lance Fogle of Sebastian, FL; two brothers and sisters - in - law, Wayne and Nancy Sims of Sebastian, FL, and Dennis and Carolyn Sims of Franklin, NC; three grandchildren, Josh and Sierra Felthousen and Chance Fogle; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral Services were conducted Saturday, April 5 from the Chapel of Bradley B. Anderson Funeral Home. Interment followed Monday at the Sebastian Cemetery.
Bradley B. Anderson Funeral Home of Reidsville served the White Family.

James K. Conley, 88

Mr. James K. Conley, 88, died Thursday morning, March 27, 2008, at Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah after a brief illness.
He was a native of and lived most of his life in Toombs County where he retired as a truck driver.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lena Spikes Conley; a child, Mabel Nadine Conley; his second wife, Gladys Wildes Conley; his parents, Grover Cleveland Conley and Mabel Davis Conley; a son, James Kenneth Conley; and a sister, Willie Lane.
The survivors include two daughters and sons - in - law, Norma Jean and Irvin Davis of Waycross, and Nancy Karen and Wayne Moran, of Sanford, FL; three step - children, Kenneth Wildes of Toombs County, Tony Wildes of Toombs County and Patsy Wallace of Glynn County; 11 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; one sister, Ina Mae Amos of Toombs County; one brother, Cecil Conley of Burke County; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held 4:30 p.m. Saturday, April 5, 2008, at Bradley B. Anderson Funeral Home, 126 Jordan St., Reidsville, GA 30453. The family will receive friends from 3:00 until 4:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Memorialization will be by cremation.
Music Funeral Home, Waycross, GA is in charge of local arrangements.

Portia Ann Halford, 64

Mrs. Portia Ann Halford, 64, passed away Sunday night, March 30, 2008, at the Tattnall Healthcare Center in Reidsville. The Chatham County native had lived in Reidsville most of her life. She was a homemaker and attended Abundant Faith PH Church.
She is survived by: son and daughter - in - law, Daniel and Sandra Halford of Collins; two daughters and sons - in - law, Connie and Jim Ward, and Melissa and David Sharpe all of Kingsport, TN; nine grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.
Memorial services will be conducted 6:00 pm Thursday, April 3 at the Believers Church of Reidsville conducted by Pastor Sherry Hill.

Duvaughn Nunnally, 64

Mr. Duvaughn Nunnally, 64, passed away Sunday, March 30, 2008, at the Tattnall Community Hospital in Reidsville, GA.
He was a native of Tattnall County and a self - employed truck driver for Coastal Wood Products. He was a member of St. James AME Church in Glennville.
He leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Rosetta Nunnally; two daughters, Linda Jean (Ricky) Arthur and Angela (Ron) Burgess; one sister, Odessa (Freddie) Marshall; four grandchildren and two great - grandchildren. Four brothers and one sister preceded him in death.
Visitation will be at King and Sons Funeral Home on Friday, April 4, 2008, from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Saturday, March 5, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. at St. James AME Church. Peggy Garrason O’Neal, 57

Peggy Garrason O’Neal, 57, passed away Monday, March 31, 2008, at Hospice Savannah after an extended illness. The Wayne County native had lived in Glennville all of her life and was retired from the Georgia Department of Transportation and Smith State Prison. She was a member of Glennville First Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her parents, Theron E. Garrason and Montez Kicklighter Garrason; a brother, Raymond E. Garrason.
She is survived by a daughter and son - in - law, Michelle O’Neal and Jack Bass, Jr. of Americus; two granddaughters, Lydia and Sara Bass of Americus; several aunts, uncles and cousins also survive.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 4, 2008, from the chapel of Brannen - Kennedy Funeral Home with Rev. Hampton Kicklighter officiating. Burial will follow in the Love’s Chapel Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Employees and Retirees of Georgia Department of Transportation.

Angela Bell, 51

Ms. Angela Bell, affectionately known as Tootsie, passed into eternal life on Saturday, May 24, 2008, at Candler Hospital in Savannah, GA. she was a lifelong resident of Glennville and educated through the Tattnall County School System. She was born on March 22, 1957. She was a member of the Living Word Christian Center in Lyons, GA.
She leaves to cherish her memories her father, Adair Bell of Glennville, GA; four sisters, Annie Bernice Jones of Buffalo, NY, Loretta Bell (Dennis) Stewart of Glennville, GA, Mary Lee Gieger of Jacksonville, FL and Hattie (James) Latimore of Douglasville, GA; one brother, Johnny (Rebecca) Jones of Glennville, GA; one aunt, Alvenia (Johnny) Williams of Douglas, GA; two uncles, Fredrick (Mary) Bell of Philadelphia, PA, and Junior Campbell (JC) of Hinesville, GA.
Visitation will be Friday, May 30, 2008, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at King & Sons Funeral Home. Wake service will be held at St. James AME Church in Glennville, GA from 7 - 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 31, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. at St. James AME in Glennville, GA. Interment will follow in the Brewton cemetery in Collins, GA.
King & Sons Funeral Home of Glennville is in charge of the arrangements.
