Edith Fairbanks Elders, 102, passed away October 20, 2007 at Northspring Assisted Living.
The Tattnall County native resided in Evans County for many years. She attended Bay Branch Primitive Baptist Church.
As a 1926 graduate of Emory University School of Nursing, Miss Elders began a long nursing career concluded by retirement as chief operating room nurse for the Central of Georgia Railroad Hospital in Savannah, GA. She was preceded in death by her parents, James M. Elders and Melissa Kennedy Elders.
Survivors include nieces and nephews, Anne Meredith Suthon Laird of New Orleans, LA, Walter J. Suthon III also of New Orleans, Jean Elders Hine of Houston, TX, Walleen Elders Edwards of Atlanta, Judy Elders Beasley of Claxton, James F. Elders Jr. of Woodbine, Jerry J. Elders of Richmond Hill and Edie Elders Cruz of Kenner, LA; several great nieces and nephews and numerous great - great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, October 24, 2007, at Bay Branch Primitive Baptist Church. Burial followed at Bay Branch Cemetery.

Deborah Ann Wise Hall, 41
Mrs. Deborah Ann Wise Hall, 41, passed into eternal rest, Saturday, October 20, 2007, at Community Hospice in Vidalia. She was born to the late Willie C. Anthony and Retha Wise on February 5, 1966, in Richmond County Georgia.
She leaves to mourn a devoted and loving husband, Clifford Hall Jr. of Collins; two sons, Onteria Javan Hall of Collins and Brian Wise of Brunswick; five sisters, Brenda Jackson of Collins, Lavon Hillary (Rick) of Athens, Peggie Wise Carroll (Keith) of Brunswick, Jennifer Kinsley (Kenneth) of Alamo, Shirley Wright of Glenwood; six brothers, Willie C. Anthony Jr. of Virginia, Derrick Wright (Sharon) of Dallas, TX, Eric Wright (Tawana) of NC, James Leroy Wise (Andreal) of Douglas, Willie James Wright Jr. of Glenwood, Ricardo Anthony of Atlanta; two grandchildren, Trinity Wise and Josh Smiley of Brunswick; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, in - laws and friends.
Visitation will be held Thursday, October 25, 2007, from 12:00 to 8:00 p. m. in the chapel of Harper’s Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, October 26, 2007, at Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church in Collins with Reverend J.K. Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Brewton cemetery.

Harold A. Hall Jr., 38, passed away Friday, October 19, 2007, at Evans Memorial Hospital. The Colquitt County native had lived in Glennville since 1975 and was a 1988 graduate of Glennville High School. He was employed by TAD PGS, Inc. at Ft. Stewart as a Heavy Equipment Operator. He was a member of Watermelon Creek Baptist Church and was preceded in death by his father, Harold A. Hall.
He is survived by his wife, Stacia T. Hall; daughter, Braylen Hall; mother, Betty Hall; sister, Vickie Hall all of Glennville; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, October 24, 2007, from the chapel of Brannen - Kennedy Funeral Home with Elder David Summerford and Reverend Steve Miller officiating. Burial followed in Beards Creek Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Mike Davis, Brian Moore, Hamp Danner, Jim Stanfield, Keith Pirkle and Kerry Dasher.

F.E. “Pike” Phillips, 91
F.E. “Pike” Phillips, 91, former Editor and Publisher of The Glennville Sentinel, passed away Saturday, October 20, 2007, at his residence under the care of Pearls of Life Hospice. The Tattnall County native had lived in Glennville all of his life and was a graduate of Glennville High School class of 1933. He was a World War II Army Veteran, having served in the Pacific with the rank of Captain. He was Owner - Editor of the Glennville Sentinel for 35 years and a member of Glennville United Methodist Church for over 80 years. He served on the board of Stewards for 13 years and Chairman for 10 years and president of the Cowart Memorial Sunday School Class. He was a member or the Tattnall County School Board of Education for 14 years serving as chairman for 10 years. He was a member of the American Legion Post #95 and a member of Tattnall County Democratic Committee. He was a member and Past Worshipful Master of Philadelphia Masonic Lodge #73 F&AM where he served as secretary for 25 years. He was a member of Alee Shrine Temple and past president of Glennville Shrine Club. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Chrissie McCall Phillips and brothers, Mack and Vernon Phillips.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Edythe C. Phillips of Glennville; daughter, Carolyn Phillips Morris of Milledgeville; grandchildren, Harold Mark Morris, III of Denver, CO, and Caroline Francis Morris of Milledgeville; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Monday, October 22, 2007, at the chapel of Brannen - Kennedy Funeral Home with Reverend Vance Riggins officiating. Burial followed in the Glennville City cemetery with Military Honors and Masonic rites.

Shirley Turner, 56
Ms. Shirley Turner, 56, of Cobbtown died on Tuesday October 16, 2007, at Ogeechee Area Hospice in Statesboro, after a brief illness. She lived most of her life in Cobbtown and was a member of Cobbtown Methodist Church. She loved her flowers and she loved to crossstitch, but most of all she loved her family.
She was preceded in death by a son, Ted Lee Benton. She is survived by a daughter, Tammy Marie Williams of Cobbtown; a brother, Tony Lee Rewis of Cobbtown; two sisters, Thelma Louise Bryant of Eatonton and Marie Elizabeth Rewis of Cobbtown; three grandchildren, Cristy Leeann Baker of Alabama, Tina Marie Baker of Reidsville and Christopher Foskey of Lagrange; two great - grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services were held Thursday, October 18, 2007, at Cobbtown Methodist Church with Reverend Holloway officiating. Burial followed in the Rewis Family Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Gene Fail, Jason Fail, Buddy Collins, Michael Earls, Danny Ray Collins, John Johnson and Marvin Dixon.

Claudia Ayala Cruz, 31
Mrs. Claudia Ayala Cruz, 31, died Tuesday night, October 9, 2007, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. She was a native of Mexico and had lived in Glennville for the past sixteen years. Mrs. Cruz was a painter at Ft. Stewart, GA, and a member of the Apocento Alto church in Glennville.
Survivors include her husband, Rogelio Cruz of Glennville; two daughters, Abigail Argeta and Marcela Cruz; one son, Abraham Cruz, all of Glennville; two sisters, Cristina Ayala and Rocio Ayala, of Glennville; two brothers, Benjamin Ayala of Glennville and Joel Ayala of Mexico; parents, Amulfo Ayala and Refugia Zamorano of Glennville.
Funeral services were held October 12, 2007, in the Glennville Chapel with the Reverend Angie Rivera officiating. Interment followed in the Glennville Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers were Rogelio Cruz, Benjamin Ayala, Armando Rodriguez, Edwardo Ayala, Marcos Antonio Ayala and Julio Ayala.

Betty Lou Parsons, 62
Betty Lou Parsons, 62, passed away Tuesday, October 16, 2007, at Memorial Health University Medical Center. The Wilmington, DE, native had lived in Brantley County for several years, prior to moving to Reidsville four years ago. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist Faith.
She is survived by her sister, Rose Towery of Reidsville; brothers, Richard Paul Parsons of Gainsville, MD, Fred Allen Parsons of Metter and William Donald Parsons of MD; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services and burial will be in Delaware at a later date.

Delores A. Register, 66, passed away Monday, October 15, 2007, after a brief illness. The Candler County native had lived in Reidsville many years before moving to Macon 15 years ago. She was a homemaker and a member of the Reidsville Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mildred and Grady Hicks and a brother, Jake Collins, all of Candler County.
She is survived by two sons and daughters - in - law, E. Bert III and Tana Register of Reidsville and Michael and Virginia Register of Tampa, FL; three grandchildren, Emily, Matthew and Savannah Register; mother - in - law, Mrs. DeWeese Register of Reidsville; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Visitation will be from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. Saturday, October 20, 2007, at the Bradley B. Anderson Funeral Home in Reidsville. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, October 21, 2007, from Reidsville Baptist Church at 3:00 p.m. Interment will follow in the Reidsville City Cemetery.

Sharon Chanel Robinson
Sharon Chanel Robinson was born July 21, 1983, in Savannah, Georgia to Bobby and Josphine Robinson. She graduated from Groves High School in 2001. She was a member of the dance line, JROTC and track team of Groves High School. After graduation, she traveled to Kentucky to experience military life. She was employed at Bank of America for two years. She gave birth to two handsome sons, Rictavius Terrance Moore Jr. and Rodrick Lamar Jackson Jr.
She is survived by her children, Rictavius T. Moore Jr. and Rodrick Lamar Jackson Jr. both of Savannah; her father and mother, Bobby and Josphine Robinson, both of Savannah; four sisters, Latonya Robinson, LaShonda Robinson, Katrina Odom, all of Savannah and Jacquelyn Barnes of Columbia, SC; her fiancé Rodrick Lamar Jackson, Sr. of Savannah; one god - child, Kamari Lassiter; a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, fiends and a special friend, Mr. Rictavius T. Moore Sr.
The funeral was held on Saturday, October 13, 2007, at Fairhaven Funeral Home in Garden City, GA, with Brother Dorris Shell Jr. officiating. Interment followed in Cherokee Hill cemetery with repast at Groves High School.

Nora Newsom Stone, 82
Mrs. Nora Newsom Stone, 82, died early Monday after an unexpected heart attack. She was a native of Tattnall County and had lived most of her life in Bulloch County. Mrs. Stone retired from the Bulloch County Board of Education in 1990 after 21 years of service, having taught at Marvin Pittman and Statesboro High School. Her innovative teaching methods and forceful personality positively impacted many students. She especially had a passion for special needs children. Mrs. Stone was preceded in death by her son, Walter Stone.
Surviving are one son and daughter - in - law, Dr. Lawson (Angie) Stone of Wilmore, KY; three grandchildren, Zachary Stone, Hannah Stone and Lyman Stone; her sister - in - law, Mary Newsom of Atlanta; and one nephew.
Funeral services were held Wednesday in the Chapel of Hodges - Moore Funeral Home, with Dr. Lawson Stone Officiating. Burial followed in Eastside Cemetery.
