Julia Norwood Black Ussery
Mrs. Julia Norwood Black Ussery, age 92, of Locust Grove, Georgia passed away December 25, 2007. Mrs. Ussery was born
in Charlotte, North Carolina, the daughter of the late Annie Seller and James Black. She was a member of Emanuel Baptist Church in Riverdale, a shriner, and a member of the Masonic Lodge in Charlotte. She enjoyed her family and needlework. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Leroy Ussery and a brother James Black.
Survivors are her children, Alice Banister of Athens, Illinois, Arthur Ussery of San Diego, California, Ann Taylor of Morrow and Alma King of Locust Grove; 19 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; sister, Bertie Wood of Gaffney, South Carolina and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mrs. Ussery were held December 29 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home with Rev. Terrell Hopkins officiating. Interment Sherwood Memorial Park. Benjamin Frank Tingle
Mr. Benjamin Frank Tingle, age 94, of Atlanta, Georgia formerly of Locust Grove passed away December 26, 2007. Mr. Tingle was born
in Henry County, the son of the late Georgia Elizabeth Castellaw and Jefferson Fue Tingle. He was a member of the Locust Grove United Methodist Church where he served in all capacities of the church and was especially proud of being chairman of the building committee leading the effort for the building at the present location. He owned his own business as a Real Estate Broker for 30 plus years. He was Mayor of Locust Grove in the late 1950’s. He served as Chairman of the Board of Commissioners for Henry County in the 1970’s. Mr. Tingle enjoyed his family, traveling and raising tomatoes.
He was preceded in death by wives, Gladys Jordan Tingle who passed away in 1975 and Edna Lindsey Tingle who passed away in 1999; brothers, Elton Tingle, Fue Tingle and Jack Tingle. Survivors are his daughter and son-in-law, Terri Tingle and John Heppner of Atlanta; grandchildren, Ben Heppner and Anna Heppner of Atlanta. Funeral services were held December 29 at the Locust Grove United Methodist Church with Reverend Ron Capes officiating. Interment Locust Grove Cemetery. Nancy Bender
Nancy Bender, age 65, of Stockbridge, Georgia died December 27, 2007. She was born
in Atlanta to the late James Woodrow and Lula Amelia Burdett Bender.
Ms. Bender is survived by her cousins.

David Eugene Covington
David Eugene Covington, age 73, of Stockbridge. Georgia died December 28, 2007. He was born
in Thomaston son of the late Clyde B. Covington and Bertie Mae Dorsey Johnson.
Mr. Covington is survived by his sister, Doris Sanford of Stockbridge; brother, Delma Richard of Covington; and several nieces and nephews.

Joy Lentz
Joy Lentz, age 79, of Stockbridge, Georgia died December 16, 2007. She was born
in St. Louis, Missouri to the late Fred and Florence Earhardt Wentzel. Mrs. Lentz was a member of St. James The Apostle Catholic Church.
Mrs. Lentz is survived by her husband, Thomas Lentz; children, Mark Lentz of Columbus, Ohio, Victoria Brewster, of Westerville, Ohio and Mary Brooks of Stockbridge; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A funeral mass was held December 20 at St. James The Apostle Catholic Church with Father John Murphy officiating. Interment SawneeView Gardens in Cumming. Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors in charge of arrangements.
Norene Ogburn Kocher
Mrs. Norene Ogburn Kocher, age 70, of Locust Grove passed away December 19, 2007. She was born
in Columbus to the late John Ora and Edna Nova Foster Ogburn. She was a member of the Lighthouse Community Church in Stockbridge. She was referred to as “Nanny” by her loving grandchildren and children she raised. She also enjoyed babysitting and spending time with her dog, “Pepper”.
Survivors include her loving husband, Garth K. Kocher of Locust Grove; children and spouses, Ned and Frankey Kocher of McDonough, Patty Babcock and Marty Fricks of Cartersville, and Cristine Noel of Locust Grove; seven grandchildren, Matthew Kocher, Noah (Ashley) Kocher, Jeremy Babcock, Ryan Babcock, Randi (Jason) Jean, Shannen Kocher, and Lacey Noel; four great grandchildren; siblings, Hilda Dawson, Carol Hawkins, Mable Miller, Rev. Hughvon King, and Charles King; numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted December 22 from the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home with Dr. Tim Dowdy officiating. Interment Sherwood Memorial Park. Haisten Funeral Home in McDonough in charge of arrangements.
Leonard L. Day
Leonard L. Day, age 80, of Monticello, Georgia died December 20, 2007. He was born
in Atlanta to the late Thomas Herbert and Era Dell Simonton Day. Mr. Day served as a cook in the Navy and was a Diesel Mechanic with Terminal Transport and American Freight System. He enjoyed woodworking, working on cars, cooking, sewing and was known as a "Jack Of All Trades". But most importantly he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his granddaughter, Amanda L. Gladden; brothers, Julius H. Day, William Maughon, Robert Sexton; and sister, Kathleen Wallace.
Mr. Day is survived by his wife, Helen I. Davis Day of Monticello; daughter and son-in-law, DeLisa M. and Matt Brown of Locust Grove; grandchildren, Tiffany M. Gladden, Cami L. Gladden, Cody A. Gladden, Matthew K. Brown Jr.; brother, Grover F. (Betty) Day of Loganville; sister, Mary Ann (Charlie) Freeman of Lilburn. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

Norman Lavern Prosser
Mr. Norman Lavern Prosser, age 80, of McDonough, Georgia passed away November 30, 2007 at Sacred Journey Hospice. Mr. Prosser was born
in Mt. Olive, Illinois, the son of the late Opal Mae Bollman and William Howell Prosser. He was preceded in death by a brother, Clifford E. Prosser.
Survivors are his wife, Virginia Prosser of McDonough; son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Cindy Prosser of McDonough; grandchildren, Christina, Sarah, Daniel and John Michael Prosser.
A memorial service was held for Mr. Prosser January 19 at Flippen United Methodist Church with Rev. Timothy Emmett officiating.
