John Charles Rogers, 50

John Charles Rogers, 50, passed away January 28, 2007, at his home in Reidsville.
He was born and raised in Miami, Florida and was of the Baptist faith. He moved to the Evans - Tattnall area 11 years ago.
He is survived by one aunt, Floreine Creel of Myrtle Beach, SC; cousins, Sharon Mitchell, Dennis and Richard DeLoach, all of Claxton; and caretakers, Volunteers of America.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, January 31, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at J. Mellie NeSmith Funeral Home in Claxton. Burial followed in Bull Creek Cemetery.
J. Mellie NeSmith Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Talmadge Olen Jones, 73

Talmadge Olen Jones, 73, died Monday, March 26, 2007, at Savannah Specialty Care, Inc., at Candler/St. Joseph’s Hospital in Savannah from injuries sustained in an automobile accident on November 17, 2006.
The Tattnall County native was born December 9, 1933. He was a member of First United Pentecostal Church in Glennville, and a member of Ezel Masonic Lodge #335 in Claxton. He was the owner/operator of Jones Recycling, Inc., and an entrepreneur. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great - grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arnie Lee and Edna Mae Anderson Jones, and his daughter, Cynthia Jones Green.
Survivors include: his wife of 54 years, Marilyn Mitchell Jones of Reidsville; daughter and son - in - law, Sandra J. and John Wingate of Reidsville; sons and daughters - in - law, Rickey Olen Jones, Randy Allen Sr. and Janet Jones, Arnie Talmadge and Renee Jones, all of Reidsville; sister, Elizabeth Jones Brannen of Glennville; brother and sister - in - law, Glenn and Jackie Jones of Reidsville; eight grandchildren, ten great - grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm, Thursday, March 29, 2007, at First United Pentecostal Church in Glennville, conducted by Rev. James M. Holland. Burial will follow in Watermelon Creek Baptist Church cemetery in Glennville.
Pallbearers will be members of Rising Sun Masonic Lodge # 32 of Reidsville.
Brannen - Kennedy Funeral Home, Glennville Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.

Reverend Alton Womack, 79

Reverend Alton Womack, 79, died Saturday at Fairview Park Hospital in Dublin. He was born in Griffin, GA and moved away from the Cobbtown - Metter area in 1999 to Dublin and then to Wrightsville. He became a minister in the early 1950s and began his South Georgia ministry in 1958 at the St. Matthews Church of God in Lyons. He was later Pastor of the Uvalda Church of God, Hillside Church of God and the Ohoopee Holiness Church. He enjoyed his prison ministry and was a carpenter, fisherman, gardener and the greatest father and grandfather a child could ever have. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Jacquelyn Laster Womack.
He is survived by his wife, Maudie C. Womack of Vidalia; two daughters, Debbie (Garl) Collins and Darlene Womack Aldrich, all of Wrightsville; two brothers, Herman (Ruby) Womack and Jacob Newton (Magdalene) Womack all of Griffin; three grandchildren, Alecia (Tim) Williams of East Dublin, Bobby (Staci) Long of Dublin and Jackie Long of Wrightsville; ten great - grandchildren; eight step - children and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, Marach 27, 2007, at Kennedy Funeral Home, Cobbtown Chapel, with Reverend Burnon Jarriel, Pastor Peggy Sapp and Pastor Tucker Lewis officiating. Burial followed in the Sunlight Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Tim Williams, Michael Hall, Gary Martin, Hugh NeSmith, Bennie H. NeSmith and Minister Sam Crestmen.
Kennedy Funeral Homes, Cobbtown Chapel, was in charge of all the arrangements.

James W. Carter, 71

Mr. James W. Carter, 71, passed away Saturday, March 17, 2007, at his home in Orange, TX. The Tattnall County native lived most of his life in Texas. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a retired electrician. J.W. was preceded in death by his parents, James O. and Nana M. Carter and a brother, Wallace Carter.
He is survived by his loving wife, Patsy (Pat) Carter of Orange, TX; a son, Brock Carter of Abilene, TX; four brothers, Mayo Carter of Las Vegas, NV, Eugene (Tom) Carter of Warner Robins, Earl Carter of Cobbtown and Preston Carter of Tallahassee, FL; two sisters, Mary Rybzkc and Shirley Sapp of Metter, and several grandchildren.
Funeral services and burial will be held in Abilene, TX.
Kennedy Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel of Metter, was in charge of all the arrangements.

Pauline Allen Clark, 61

On Wednesday, March 14, 2007, Mrs. Pauline Allen Clark, 61, passed away at East Georgia Regional Medical Center.
A faithful Christian, Pauline was dedicated to missionary work and witnessing for Christ. She accepted her calling and purpose for living, which was mentoring children and being a mother to all - as she was affectionately known as “Mama Clark”. She had been a faithful member of both River Zion Baptist Church in Blanche, NC and Jerusalem Baptist Church, where she served in the choir with an angelic alto voice, and also taught Sunday School for the youth. For the last four years, she has been studying diligently with Shepherd’s Chapel’s Pastor Arnold Murray where she was a student of the Holy Bible, learning the Word of God Chapter by Chapter and verse by verse. She was a very creative homemaker and was employed by the Claxton Board of Education as a substitute teacher.
She leaves the following loved ones to cherish many special memories, her loving husband, Roosevelt K. Clark of Claxton; two sons Michael L. Clark and his wife Laurielle Clark of Brooklyn, NY and Gregory J. Clark and wife Cherice Clark of Bowie, MD; grandchildren, Brittany Clark and Briana Clark of Bowie, MD; four sisters, Sallie K. Lea of Blanche, NC, Mary E. Samuel and Claire A. Coates, both of Mt. Vernon, NY, Barbara A. Swain of Mt. Vernon, NY and Victoria Dianne Saunders of Blairs, VA; one brother, George M. Allen of Danville, VA and her mother - in - law, Mrs. Carrie Hagan Clark and two very special god - children Patricia Boyd of Lanier, GA and Lamont Ballard of Statesboro, GA and their children. She is also survived by an enormous extended family and her friends who she loved dearly.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, March 17, 2007, at Jerusalem Baptist Church, Groveland, GA. with Dr. L. Perry McNeal officiating. Interment was in the Jerusalem Church Cemetery. Professional services were entrusted to Harper’s Funeral Home in Claxton, GA.

Rufus Coley, 48

Mr. Rufus Coley, the fourth son of the late Reuben Coley and Emmaretta Bethea Coley, was born August 14, 1958. He was united in marriage to Sheila McKeever Coley. To this union one son was born.
During his childhood, he attended Seckinger Elementary School and Glennville High School. He completed his formal education at the Breaking Ridge School in Kentucky. Through experience and hard work, Rufus became a “Jack of all trades, master of none. He owned and operated his own business, Bass Enterprises, Incorporated, until his untimely death. As a young man he joined First African Missionary Baptist Church. God saw the need for rest when he called Rufus on Sunday, March 11, 2007.
He leaves to cherish his memory a loving mother, Emmaretta Coley; four brothers, Eddie (Faye) Coley of Hinesville, Edward Lee Coley of Glennville, Stanley (Eleanor) Coley of Fort Lauderdale, FL and Bennie Coley of Savannah; his estranged wife Sheila Coley; two sons, Shanquil Coley and Brandon Miller; three daughters Veretta Coley, Charlotte and Lorainne Stokes; two grandchildren, Leasie Coley and Scarlett Hodges; sisters - in - law, Roxanne McKeever and Crystal Oginee, of Tennessee; three brothers - in - law, Kenneth Mckeever, Lawrence McKeever Jr. and Alphonso McKeever, all of Hagan; father - in - law, Lawrence McKeever Sr.; mother - in - law, Mae McKeever; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; special friends, Carol Robinson and Misty Cobb and special mention Quest Young.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, March 17, 2007, at First African Missionary Baptist Church in Glennville, GA with Reverend Martin Bacon officiating. Interment followed in the First African Missionary Baptist Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Larry Coley, Choice Coley, Norris Coley, Ricky Arthur, Sr., Raymond Geiger, Freddie J. Geiger and Jonathan Taylor. Honorary pallbearers were Deacons of First African Missionary Baptist Church.
Harper Funeral Home in Claxton was in charge of all the arrangements.

Bennie Ann Harrelson, 67

Bennie Ann Harrelson, 67, passed away late Friday night, March 16, 2007, at the Tattnall Healthcare Center in Reidsville. The Tattnall County native had lived in Reidsville all of her life and was a homemaker. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Bobbie Smith; father, Jack Gay; brothers, Jackie and Bobby Gay.
She is survived by her son and daughter - in - law, Andy and Annette Gay of Reidsville; her mother, Ms. Glennis Gay of Reidsville; a brother, Billy Gay of Reidsville; four grandchildren, Curtis and Andrew Gay, Brandy Barnard and Blair Smith; several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Dennis Sapp, Tony Willis, Brandon Meeks, Kenneth Crews, Rodney Hutcheson, John MacKinnon, and Robert Scarbrough.
Funeral services were held Monday, March 19, 2007, at the Chapel of Bradley B. Anderson Funeral Home with Bro. Larry Spence officiating. Interment followed in Pine Grove Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
Bradley B. Anderson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Daniel Roger Kennedy, 72

Daniel Roger Kennedy, 72, entered into rest on Wednesday, March 14, 2007, at University Hospital. Mr. Kennedy was born in Glennville, GA to the late Eula Mae Bell and Robert Carl Kennedy. He served in the US Marines in the Korean Conflict. After his military duty, Mr. Kennedy was employed by Continental Can and later became an owner operator of stores, restaurants, and rental property. He was a loving and supportive father, brother, and grandfather. He will be missed by all that knew him.
He is survived by a son, Chris Kennedy and his wife Brenda of Waynesboro; a daughter, Martha Karen Kennedy of Waynesboro; six brothers, Gene Kennedy, Jimps "Bo" Kennedy, Wayne Kennedy, Winton Kennedy, Charlie Kennedy, and Royce Kennedy; seven sisters, Bert Jones, Carolyn Taylor, Lula Kenney, Brenda Parker, Dale Smiley, Lavene Bell and Donna Wood; four grandchildren Nicholas Kennedy, Dillon Kennedy, Wayne Waters, and William Key; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Kennedy was preceded in death by a brother, Clifton Kennedy and a sister, Martha Purvis.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 16, 2007, at Harmony Methodist Church in Glennville, GA with Dr. Francis Ford officiating. Interment services will follow in the Harmony Methodist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Nicholas Kennedy, Dillon Kennedy, Wayne Waters, Alan Jones, Berry Kennedy, Randy Purvis, Tony Kennedy, Keith Bell, and Scott Parker.
Memorial contributions may be made to Green's Cut United Methodist Church Building Fund, c/o Tammy Gay, Treasurer, 663 Lake Crystal Drive, Waynesboro, GA 30830.

William Wrenell Mobley, 62

William Wrenell Mobley, 62, died Monday, March 19, 2007, at Glenvue Nursing Home. The Long County native lived in Glennville since 1995. He was a retired heavy equipment operator and a member of Little Rock Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Mobley of Glennville; son William Wayne Mobley of Glennville; stepdaughter, Patricia Barnard DeLoach of Ludowici; stepson, Mitchell Daniel Barnard of Richmond Hill; brother Jerrell C. Mobley of Jesup; six grandchildren and one great - grandchild.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, March 21, 2007, in the Chapel of Brannen - Kennedy Funeral Home, with Reverend Bryan Anderson officiating. Burial followed in Little Rock Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Derrell Weitman, Kevin Weitman, James Weitman, Stacy Howard, David Baxter and Mike Folsom.
Brannen - Kennedy Funeral Home, Glennville Chapel, was in charge of all the arrangements.
