Lee Junior Edenfield, 65

Lee Junior Edenfield, 65, passed away Thursday evening, July 30, 2009, at his residence under the care of his family and Ogeechee Area Hospice. The Emanuel County native had lived in Aline and Stillmore most of his life. He was a self - employed carpenter. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wesley and Fannie Mae Edenfield and a brother, Bobby Edenfield.
He is survived by his daughter and son - in - law, Wanda and Tim Eller of Summerville, GA; stepson and daughter - in - law, Wayne and Debbie Boggs of Summerville; two sisters and brothers - n - law, Sue and Tommy Green of Stillmore and Robbie and Homer Thomas of Twin City; brother, John Frankie Edenfield of Stillmore; two grandchildren, Derek and Tonya Eller of Summerville, and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside funeral services were conducted Sunday, August 2, 2009, from the Stillmore City cemetery with the Reverends Kenneth and Timothy Green officiating.

Samarata Dreggors Griffin, 89

Samarata Dreggors Griffin, 89, passed away Thursday, July 30, 2009, at her residence surrounded by her family. She was born in Tattnall County and lived there most of her life. She retired from the Tattnall County board of Education after 17 years of service. She was a charter member of Cornerstone Bible Church, a devoted homemaker, talented seamstress and was known for her good cooking. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Simmie M. Griffin; parents, Daniel and Minnie Lee Dreggors and grandson, Brian G. Sikes.
She is survived by her children, Karen Griffin of Glennville, Mark Griffin (Esther) of Richmond Hill and Lynna Hilliard (Tommy) of Glennville; five grandchildren, Marshall Sikes, Luke, Emma and Will Griffin, Clayton and Ben Hilliard; one great grandson, Griffin Sikes; siblings, Racile Dreggors (Barbara), William Dreggors (Novadean) and Larry Dreggors, all of Glennville.
Funeral services were held Saturday, August 1, 2009, at Cornerstone Bible Baptist Church, with Reverend Winston Beasley. Burial followed in the Glennville City Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Clayton Hilliard, Ben Hilliard, Daniel Dreggors, John Dreggors, Steve Dreggors and Mike Dreggors.
Remembrances may be made to Cornerstone Bible Church, 304 E. Hencart Rd., Glennville, GA 30427, or a charity of one’s choice.

Deacon Oscar Lavon Jenkins, Jr., 64

Deacon Oscar Lavon Jenkins, Jr., was born on December 12, 1944. He departed his life on August 2, 2009, at 5:25 p.m., at the Ogeechee Area Hospice Center in Statesboro, GA. He was the son of the late Oscar Jenkins Sr., and Ethel Dukes Jenkins Alston. He was united in Holy Matrimony to Sister Victoria Hines on September 4, 1965, in Glennville, Georgia. He was employed with the Department of Transportation for 28 years until he retired in May 2009. He was also employed by the Tattnall County Board of Education. He was the owner of Jenkins Barber Shop for many years. Deacon Jenkins joined Greater Zachariah Missionary Baptist Church at an early age and he became a Deacon in 1977 under the leadership of the Rev. C. L. Anderson. He was a Bible Study teacher and Mission in Action teacher.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 44 years, Sis. Victoria H. Jenkins; three children, Shelia Denise Jenkins of Glennville, GA, Michelle (Carlos) Gaines of Hinesville, GA, Oscar Lavon Jenkins III of Glennville, GA; five grandchildren, Candace Boggs, Cristopher Troy Boggs Jr., Carla Gaines, Jasmine Gaines, Carlos D. Gaines Jr. and one great grandson, Nehemiah Lavell Tukes; one sister, Geneva Saddler of Hamilton Township, NJ; four sisters - in - law, two brothers - in - law and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and family. He was pre - deceased by his brother, Jetretie Jenkins. Visitation will be held Friday from 11 - 7 p.m., at King and Son’s Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, August 8, 2009, at Greater Zachariah Baptist Church, with burial in the church Cemetery.

Maggie Cooper McCarty, 88

Ms. Maggie Cooper McCarty, age 88, passed away Monday, July 27, 2009, in Reidsville under hospice care. She was born in Montgomery County and lived in Toombs County for 35 years before moving to Reidsville 52 years ago. Maggie was a homemaker after retiring from Jelks Clinic after twenty years of faithful service. She will mostly be remembered for her cooking abilities and the love of feeding people. She was a member of Conners Baptist Church in Cobbtown and was preceded in death by her husband, M.J. McCarty.
She is survived by her sons, Charles E. Cooper and Kenneth Cooper, both of Reidsville; daughters and sons - in - law, Gladene Oliver, Linda C. and Gene Nail, and Rose Ann and Carl Knight all of Reidsville. Several grandchildren, great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren also survive
Funeral Services were conducted 2:00 p.m. Wednesday July 29, 2009, from the Reidsville Baptist Church with the Reverends Sterling Bargeron, Carl Ledbetter and Steve Miller officiating. Interment followed in the Reidsville City Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Bryan Kennedy, DeWayne DeLoach, Fred Lightsey, Eben Roberts, Kenny Cooper and Dewey Nail

Irvine W. Middleton, 66

Mrs. Irvine W. Middleton, 66, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, August 1, 2009, at the Coastal Manor Nursing Home in Ludowici, GA. She accepted Christ at an early age, and joined the Macedonia Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. J.E. Clark, where she was a faithful member. She worked on the Usher Board. She was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Charles W. Middleton. To this union one child was born. She leaves to cherish her loving memories her son Patrick and daughter - in - law, Becky Middleton; six grandchildren Stephaine, Shanna, Angie, Deroyce, Shimeka, and Chasity; three sisters, Odessa Mathes and Doris (Elder) Roberson of Glennville, GA, Birdie Fred (John) Harris of Washington, D.C.; one brother, Bobby Wrights of Jacksonville, FL; 13 great - grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews; a very special friend, Shirley Holmes and other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 5, 2009, from 11 - 7. Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 6, 2009, at 1:00 p.m., at Macedonia Baptist Church in Ludowici, with burial in the church cemetery.

Danny Wayne Webb, 54

Danny Wayne Webb, 54, died Friday, July 31, 2009, after an auto accident. The native of Metter lived several years in Edgewater, FL, before moving back to Metter in 2004. He was a construction worker, enjoyed fishing, gardening and listing to country music.
Survivors include his children: Melissa (Eric) Tharp, Kaitlin Webb; mother, Frances Rigdon Smith; sister, Betty Graham; grandchildren, Justin, Nolan, Jaden; aunt, Joyce Faircloth; companion, Tracy Murkerson and her children, Stephanie and Kevin. He was predeceased by two children, Daniell Bell and Danny Webb Jr.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, August 5.
Kennedy - Morgan - Brannen Funeral Home, Metter - Cobbtown, was in charge of the arrangements.

Harry Braddock, 57

Harry Braddock, age 57 of Lyons, died Monday, September 7, 2009, at his residence after an extended illness. He was a native and lifelong resident of Toombs County, and retired from CSX Railroad. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and was a member of The Kirkland Place Hunting Club. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lyons, the Men’s Sunday School Class and was preceded in death by his parents, Ezra, and Bonnie Osborne Braddock.
Mr. Braddock is survived by his wife, Lisa Mimbs Braddock of Lyons; two sons, Clint Braddock and Deidre of Cedar Crossing; and Brannon Braddock of Lyons; two daughters, Harriet Flowers and Chris of Lyons and Kendra Hughes of Lyons; two brothers, Gilbert Braddock, and Nell and Lawson Braddock, all of Cochran; one sister, Faye Harvey and Danny of Collins; five grandchildren, Kristen Flowers, Mikayla Lollis, Abbigail Hughes, Caley Anna Braddock and Emily Flowers and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 10, 2009, at 11 a.m. in the First Baptist Church of Lyons with Reverend Dannie Williams and Reverend George Holcombe officiating. Interment will follow in the Lyons City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening, September 9, 2009, from 6 - 9 p.m. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the First Baptist Church of Lyons Children’s Center Building Fund, P.O. Box 627, Lyons, GA 30436.

Doretha Lynn Deal, 90

Doretha Lynn Deal, age 90, died Wednesday, September 2, 2009, in the Bethany Nursing Center in Vidalia, GA.
She was born November 14, 1918, in Glynn County and had resided in Appling County since 1935. In 1959, she and her husband, Darwin, started the Farm Bureau Insurance Agency in Appling County. She served as secretary of the Appling County Farm Bureau for twenty - two years. She was the oldest living member of Lake Chapel Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Darwin E. Deal; two brothers, Rudolph Lynn and Henry Carl Lynn, Jr. and her step - mother, Hilda Franklin Lynn. She was the daughter of the late Henry Carl Lynn, Sr. and Alma Stanfield Lynn.
She is survived by two daughters and sons - in - law, Elaine and Roy Bass of Baxley, and Annette and Jimmy Carter of Hinesville; three sons and daughters - in - law, Elwyn and Nancy Deal of Anderson, SC, Lynn and Betty Deal of Reidsville and Eldon and Pam Deal of Baxley; sister and brother - in - law, Cydelle and Don Winstead of Tampa, FL; thirteen grandchildren, eight great - grandchildren and one great - great grandchild.
Funeral services were held Friday, September 4, 2009, at 11 a.m., at Lake Chapel Church, with Elder Mickey Durden, Elder William H. “Bill” Durrence, Elwyn Deal and Jason Deal officiating. Interment followed in the Lake Chapel Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were David Martin, Greg Martin, Dennis Deal, Stacy Bass, Jason Bass, Ryan Deal and Jeff Horton.

Henry Harvey, Sr., 73

Mr. Henry Harvey, Sr., 73, of Glennville, GA, passed away Monday, August 31, 2009, at the Glenvue Nursing Home in Glennville, GA. He was a native of Tattnall County and a member of Beulah No. 1 Baptist Church in Mendes, GA.
He was born on May 5, 1936, to the late Connie and Hattie Harvey. He was raised by Connie and Julie Mae Harvey after his mother passed away. He was employed at the Mascot Pecan Company for 35 years. He was preceded in death by one brother, John Harvey, and one sister, Mrs. Ruby Leonard.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Viola Harvey of Glennville, GA; four sons, Herbert Harvey of Panama City, FL, Hamus (Kathleen) Harvey and Michael Harvey, both of Midway, GA, Lee (Retania) Harvey of Glennville, GA; one daughter, Janice Monroe of Glennville, GA; 18 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Ann Phillips of Glennville, GA, and Mrs. Ophene (Calvin) Bacon of Allenhurst, GA; two brothers, Will (Mary Ann) Harvey and Connie (Claudine) Harvey, both of Glennville, GA; his mother - in - law, Mrs. Mary Lee Tootle of Glennville, GA; two sisters - in - law, Mrs. Nona Ree Manor and Patricia Tootle, both of Glennville, GA; one brother - in - law, Mr. Archie Lee Phillips of Glennville, GA; aunts - in - law, Mrs. Nancy Way, Mrs. Delois Mincey, Mrs. Geraldine Miller and Mrs. Johnny Mae Moody, all of Glennville, GA; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Saturday, September 5, 2009, at 12:00 noon at Beulah No. 1 Baptist Church in Mendes, GA, with Rev. Freddie Marshall officiating. Interment followed at Robert Chapel cemetery in Tyson, GA.
Pallbearers were Derric Campbell, Coby Sharpe, Kevin McNeal, Kim Phillips, Timmy Phillips and Terrance Bacon.

Arlene Stocker Humphrey, 84

Arlene Stocker Humphrey, 84, of Cobbtown, died Friday, Sept. 4, 2009, at Community Hospice in Vidalia. The Pennsylvania native moved to Cobbtown in 1969 from Maryland. Arlene was a nurse in Statesboro for many years after She was a homemaker who loved her cats and was a member of the
Cobbtown United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Washington Humphrey and a daughter, Diane Humphrey.
She is survived by a daughter, Karen Humphrey and a son, Danny Humphrey both of Cobbtown; three grandchildren, Lacey, Britt and Jason Humphrey.
Funeral services were held Sunday, at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Cobbtown Chapel, with Rev. Joey Holloway officiating. Burial was held in the Sunlight Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Stevie Sewell, Wesley Coley, Brian Kennedy, Tommy Holland, Al Williams and John F. Kennedy.
