Willie Dallas Woodrum, 62
Willie Dallas Woodrum, 62, passed away Sunday, June 7, 2009, at St. Joseph’s Hospital. The Tattnall County native had lived in Tattnall and Glynn counties most of his life. He was employed in the construction industry as a carpenter and welder. He enjoyed the outdoors and fishing with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his children Myra Gail Tanner of Brunswick, Patricia Dale Woodrum and Renae Estelle Pomar, both of Glennville; sisters, Vera McLeldon of Greensboro, NC, and Bonnie Anderson of Opp, AL; brother, Harmon Watson of Dublin, GA; seven grandchildren, one great grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 10, 2009, at Brannen - Kennedy Funeral Home with burial following in Georgia Veterans Memorial cemetery with Military Honors.
Pallbearers were Paul Flowers, Bill Thompson, Gene Banks, Denver Barrow, Gene Baxley and Jesse Denning.

Vernon Jackson Cowart, 88
Vernon Jackson Cowart, 88, died on Monday, June 1, 2009 in Dublin after a long illness. A life long resident of Reidsville, he was the youngest and last surviving child of G.W. and Dicie Wedincamp Cowart.
His parents died when he was young, and he began farming with his brother. At 21, he married
Thelma Iddins of Reidsville, who would be his wife for 67 years. Shortly afterwards, the couple moved to Baltimore, Maryland, where he worked in the navy shipyards before being called upon to serve his country in the United States Army.
He served with distinction, rising to the rank of sergeant in the Pacific Theater in World War II and later Korea. He was a decorated soldier, counting six bronze stars and a bronze arrowhead among many other citations and honors.
After returning from military service, he resumed farming and managed his own logging operation for many years. He was later employed by Georgia State Prison as a correctional officer, eventually retiring from this position.
He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, working with livestock, restoring old homes and fishing, especially at Lake Okeechobee in Florida.
He is preceded in death by his parents, siblings, and a daughter, Amy. He is survived by his wife, Thelma Iddins Cowart, a son, DeWayne Cowart (Linda), a daughter, April Cowart, grandchildren Jeb Cowart (Gloria) and DuAnn Cowart Davis (Lee), step - grandchildren Shane Sikes and Shawn Sikes (Debbie), and great - grandchildren Mason Cowart, Ian Cowart, Cecilia Davis, Ronald Lee “Trip” Davis III, and Marina Davis, and step - greatgrandchild Aubrey Sikes.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at 6:00 p.m. from Bradley B. Anderson Funeral Home in Reidsville. Funeral services and burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a hospice or charity of the donor’s choice.

Mary Christine “Chris” Wood Lukic, 58
Mary Christine “Chris” Wood Lukic, 58, died Sunday, May 31, 2009. The Buffalo, NY, native lived in Metter for the past 18 years. She was of the Catholic Faith and loved elderly people. Chris worked at Candler County Hospital as a LPN, and then worked as a private duty nurse. She was preceded in death by her father, Charles F. Wood.
She is survived by her mother, Eleanor Walsh Wood of Metter; a son and daughter - in - law, Charles “Chuck” and Melinda Ceccacci of Carrolton; daughters and son - in - law: Carolyn and Chandler Mosley of Moultrie and Eleanor L. Lukic of Metter; brother, Joel F. Wood of Savannah; five grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Graveside funeral services will be conducted Friday, June 5 at 11:00 a.m. at Bonaventure cemetery with visitation Thursday evening 6 - 7, with a Rosary to begin at 7.

Helen Victoria Crosby McCullough, 67
Helen Victoria Crosby McCullough, 67, died Friday, May 29, 2009, at Candler Hospital in Savannah. The Florida native was a retired restaurant manager and enjoyed taking care of children all of her life. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph William Crosby and Gussie Lee Hodges; husband, John Wesley “Buddy” McCullough; son, William Wesley McCullough and daughter, Regina Lynn McCullough.
She is survived by her partner of 18 years, Paul Alderman of Savannah; three daughters and sons - in - law, Vickie and Johnny King of Reidsville, Gloria Pittman of Oliver and Gwen and Paul Moore of Savannah; one son, Jason McCullough of Savannah; 11 grandchildren, Michele and Travis Rapp, Carrie and Matt Clark, all of Reidsville, Bubba and Daina King of Statesboro, April and Joey Smiley of Aiken, SC, Amanda and Ryan Gray, Christopher McCullough, and Wesley McCullough (serving in Afghanistan), all of Atlanta, Jonathan and Matthew Moore of Savannah and John McCullough of Alabama; 7 great - grandchildren, Katelin and Camden Rapp, Caleb and Carter Clark, all of Reidsville, Ava and Emma King of Statesboro and Kenneth Gray of Atlanta; brother and sister - in - law, Reggie and Lynda Crosby of Springfield; four sisters and a brother - in - law, Willie Lee Smith of Indiana, Betty Shuman of Ridgeland, SC, Dorothy and Herman Smith of Grays, SC, and Irma Mincey of Hinesville; and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held 2 p.m., Sunday, May 31, from the chapel of Thomas C. Strickland & Sons Funeral Home in Springfield, GA. Interment followed in Hodges cemetery at Turkey Branch United Methodist Church.

J. Lamar Reynolds, 85
J. Lamar Reynolds, 85, was born in Toombs County, Georgia, on January 25, 1924, and passed away on May 30, 2009. He served his country during World War Two as a Radio operator in the Maritime Service on ships that transported supplies and ammunition to the troops. During the Korean War he served as a Master Sergeant in the U. S. Army, (Georgia Hussars) where he was stationed in El Paso, Texas, and Albuquerque, New Mexico. He retired from Delta Air Lines in Atlanta, GA with 38.5 years of service in 1985, as the Chief Simulator Engineer. He attended Purdue University while working in Indianapolis, Indiana. He obtained his pilot’s and instructor’s license in Atlanta.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence T. and Ella Holland Reynolds; brothers, Edward Theo, Jack and David C. Reynolds; and by a grandson, David L. Reynolds.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years Kathryn Moseley Reynolds of Reidsville; sons, Randall L. Reynolds and wife, Brenda, of Lawrenceville, Douglas B. Reynolds and wife, Linda, of Dacula; daughter, Marla Reynolds and husband, Joe Perrone, of Fernandina Beach, FL; brother, Ruben Reynolds and wife, Trudy, of Warner Robins; sister, Jo Whitfield and husband, Randy, of Reidsville; two sisters - in - law, Joyce Reynolds and Janice Reynolds, ten grandchildren, eleven great - grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 2, 2009, at the Bradley B. Anderson Funeral Home with burial in the Reidsville City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given in his memory to the Reidsville United Methodist Church or American Heart Association.

Maybell Davis, 76
Maybell Davis, 76, of Glennville, GA, passed away Wednesday, July 1, 2009, at her residence. She was a native of Tattnall County and a member of Greater Zachariah Baptist Church in Glennville.
She is survived by two grandchildren, James Juan Williams of Jacksonville, FL, and Cherry Russell of Hinesville, GA; five great grandchildren, four great - great grandchildren, two special great nieces and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 11, 2009, at Greater Zachariah Baptist Church with burial following in the church cemetery.

Mildred Green Collins Outler Lamb
The heavenly gates opened on Monday, July 13, 2009, for Mrs. Mildred Green Collins Outler Lamb. Mrs. Mildred was a member of The Collins Baptist Church and also attended Rogers Baptist Church, loved to fish and work in her yard. She enjoyed life and was a beloved mother to her children and grandchildren.
Memories are left to be cherished by four daughters, Betty (Robert) Ivey of Dunn N.C., Mary Moore of Savannah, Linda Turner and Lessie Barron of Collins; three sons, George W. Outler of Savannah, Wayne (Ann) Outler of Sandersville, and Timie (Alma) Lamb of Daisy; two step - daughters, Brenda Banks and Connie Heckel; three sisters, Mary Effie Collins and Rosie Sanders of Bloomingdale, Christine Rich of Cobbtown; one brother Palmer (Lavieda) Green of Daisy; 20 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, and four great - great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son Herbert Collins; parents Ezra and Olie Kicklighter Green; brother EW Green; sons - in - law, Wade Moore and Bennie C. Barron; grandsons, Chris Barron and Bobby Ivey; great grandsons, Austin Mattson and Bradley Cliston.
Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m., Thursday, July 16, 2009, at the Collins Baptist Church with burial in the Cedar Creek Cemetery.

Mary A. Smith, 77, of Reidsville, GA, entered into eternal rest on Friday, July 3, 2009, at her residence. She was a native of Tattnall County and a member of St. Phillip’s Baptist Church. She served faithfully as the President of the Usher and Mission Boards, as well as serving as the Intersection Sunday School Class Teacher under the leadership of Reverend Dr. Artis Carswell, Jr.
She is survived by her sister, Adell Lucas (Louis) Spann of Plainfield, NJ; sisters - in - law, Mary M. Lucas of Manning, SC, Eva Lucas of Plainfield, NJ, Jacklyn Smith and Mamie Harris, both of Reidsville, GA, Lavern Walker of Jacksonville, FL; brothers - in - law, Raymond, Herbert, Willie and James Smith, all of Reidsville, GA; a devoted friend Harry Wilson of Uvalda, GA; a favorite nephew, Don Spann of Plainfield, NJ and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and many, many friends.
Pallbearers were James E. Smith, Willie H. Smith, Carlton Madison Sr., Chris Walker, Sr., Michael Summersett, and Bennie Summersett.
Funeral services were held Saturday, July 11, 2009, at 3:00 p.m., at St. Phillip’s Baptist Church in Reidsville, GA, with Dr. Rev. Artis Carswell officiating. with burial following in the Sandhill cemetery in Reidsville.

Ralph I. DeLoach, 70
Ralph I. DeLoach, 70, passed away Saturday, July 25, 2009, at Candler Hospital in Savannah after an extended illness. The Long County native had lived in Kingsland and Long County most of his life. He was employed as a School Bus Driver with Camden County and at Georgia Department of Corrections at Georgia State Prison. He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing and working in his garden and was a member of Little Flock Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rudolph and Vera DeLoach and brothers, Marcus and Wendell DeLoach.
He is survived by his wife, Harriet W. DeLoach of Glennville; children, Roger and Shonda DeLoach and Raymond DeLoach and Ann Smith, all of Glennville; sister, Pauline Walker (Clayton) of Glennville; brother, Franklin DeLoach (Catherine) of Senoia, GA; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 29, 2009, at Little Rock Baptist Church, with Reverend Bryan Anderson officiating. Burial was private.

Ivey Edwards, 90
Mr. Ivey Edwards, 90, passed away Wednesday, July 22, 2009, at The Doctors Hospital of Tattnall. He had lived in Florida most of his life and moved to Reidsville two years ago.
He is survived by the staff of Tattnall Healthcare.
