MARIE BROCK DUNCAN
Marie Brock Duncan, 79, died Sunday, April 2, 2000, after an extended illness. She was born in Chipley, Fla., to Lon and Hattie Brock and later moved to Panama City. Marie was a member of First Baptist Church of Panama City and retired from the Singer Company. Marie's special interests included her love for flowers and gardening, cooking and a sincere desire to help others by her volunteer work. Survivors include a brother, Quincy Brock; a son, Doyle Duncan and his wife Nita; two daughters, Renee' Duncan and John Kessinger, Kathy Vossler and her husband Charles; grandchildren: Robert Ecker III, Charles Vossler III, Edward Duncan III, and Ryan Nowell; granddaughter, Lauren Marie Vossler; one great-grandchild, Justin Tyler Duncan, born April 2, 2000. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Arthur Duncan. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., today, April 5, at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Roy Chewning officiating. Interment will follow at 4 p.m. today, April 5 at Piney Grove Cemetery in Chipley. If desired, Marie's sweet and courageous spirit may be memorialized by donations to the American Parkinson Disease Assoc., Inc., 1250 Hylan Blvd., Suite 4B, Staten Island, NY 10305. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the devoted caregivers at National Health Care. The family will be staying at the home of Renee' Duncan and John Kessinger, 2514 Country Club Drive, Lynn Haven, FL 32444.

JEROME MICHAEL GECKS
Jerome Michael "Jerry" Gecks, 37, of Fountain, Fla., passed away Monday, April 3, 2000. Born in Key West, Fla., he moved to Panama City in 1986 from Charleston, S.C. He drove a truck for Suttle Truck Leasing Company. He is Christian by faith. He is survived by his mother, Pat Gecks of Sunman, Ind.; father, Ron Gecks of Sunman; wife, Kimberly Gecks; sisters, Tina Eckstein and husband Nick of Indiana and Rhonda Tunny and husband Gary of Indiana . Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, April 6, at 10 a.m. in Southerland Family Funeral Home Chapel on 19th Street. Interment will follow in Lynn Haven Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today, April 5 from 6 to 8 p.m. He was loved very much by family and friends.

LOTTIE BOB SMITH
Mrs. Lottie Bob Smith, age 80, of Chipley, Fla., passed away Monday, April 3, 2000, at Southeast Alabama Medical Center in Dothan, Ala. She was a lifelong resident of Chipley. She was of the Baptist faith and a member of First Baptist Church in Chipley. Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 6, at 9 a.m. at Chapel of Brown Funeral Home in Chipley with the Rev. Adolph Phares officiating. Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the home of Robert Smith, 565 Hwy. 273, Chipley, Fla. Survivors are sons, Garrie and wife Ellen Smith Jr. of Marianna, Robert and wife Bonnie Smith of Chipley; sisters, Mary Sue Green of Greensboro, Fla., Katie Mae Bryan of Crestview; grandchildren: Kevin Smith, Michael Smith, Ryan Smith, Eric Smith and Lee Smith and great-grandchild, Erica Smith. The family requests in lieu of flowers that donations be made to First Baptist Church in Chipley.

GRACIE BROCK BLOUNT
Gracie Brock Blount, 88, of 2732 Hwy. 79, Vernon, Fla., died Tuesday, April 4, 2000, at Bay Medical Center in Panama City. Mrs. Blount was a member of Vernon Baptist Church and retired owner/operator of Brock Grocery with her late husband Herman Brock. The funeral service will be held Thursday, April 6, at 10 a.m. in Vernon Baptist Church, Vernon, with the Rev. Roy Douglas and the Rev. Stan Holder officiating. She was preceded in death by son, Leon Hiram Brock and daughter, Barbara Ann Brock. Survivors include three sons: Herman Tennyson Brock of Hollywood, Ala., Ronald Joseph Brock of Vernon and James Broward Brock of Milton; brother, Williams Riley Chesser of Gainesville; sister, Emma Lou Tew of MacClenny, Fla.; 12 grandchildren: Stacey Brock, Mark Brock, Ricky Brock Darren Brock, Micky Brock, Dennis Brock Teresa Holder, Sandra Herring, Donna Walling, Tracie Herbert, Tonya Burch and Shasta Brock; 21 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. The grandson will serve as pallbearers and grandsons-in-law and friend are serving as honorary pallbearers.

RICHARD SHERMAN BROOKINS, SR.
Mr. Richard Sherman Brookins, Sr., age 66, of 1603 W. 11th St., Panama City, Fla., died Tuesday, April 4, 2000, at home. He returned to Panama City in 1968 after a 20-year career in the U.S. Navy, retiring as a Boatswain's Mate First Class. Mr. Brookins was a member of St. John's Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He is survived by a son, Richard S. Brookins Jr. of Panama City; a daughter, Susan Safdari-Sadaloo and her husband Javad of Panama City Beach; grandchildren: Richard S. Brookins III and his wife Michelle and Duane Lee Brookins, all of Tallahassee, Fla., Atta Safdari-Sadaloo, Somayee Safdari-Sadaloo, Alia Safdari-Sadaloo, and Sara Safdari-Sadaloo, all of Panama City Beach; four nephews, and two nieces. He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia C. Brookins. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m., Saturday, April 8, at St. John's Catholic Church with Fr. Marty Bratek officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetery with full military honors. Pallbearers will be the Knights of Columbus. The family will receive friends at theKent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Friday, April l7, from 6 to 8 p.m. with a Rosary service at 7 p.m. Those desiring may make contributions to the American Cancer Society, 472 Oak Ave., Panama City, FL 32401. DEBORAH ANN JOHNS
Deborah Ann Johns, 43, of Fountain, died Tuesday, April 4, 2000, in a car accident. She was a shift supervisor for a restaurant. She had been a resident of this area for 20 years, moving here from New Orleans. She is preceded in death by her parents, Macie Moore Dixon and Aaron Lewis Dixon Sr.; brother, Aaron Lewis Dixon Jr.; sister, Carla Jo Dixon; and nephew, Christopher Michael Dixon. She is survived by her husband, Gary L. Johns of Fountain; five children: Joseph Jason Enfinger of Panama City, Jennifer Lynn Enfinger of Fountain, Kimberly Beth Hutto of Fountain, Michael Ashley Johns of Panama City, and Joshua Mercer Johns of Port St. Joe; one grandchild, Damien Trevor Brown of Youngstown; brother, Gary Michael Dixon of Bolton, N.C.; two sisters, Sandra (Sandy) Jones of Panama City, Pamela Dixon Tart of Dunn, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Charles Carden officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 6 to 8 p.m.

Mrs. Floy B. Lee, age 92, of 2236 Lake Grove Road, Wewahitchka, Fla., died Tuesday, April 4, 2000, at a local hospital. She had been a resident of Wewahitchka since 1971, moving there from Tallahassee. Mrs. Lee was a member of the Westside Baptist Church of Wewahitchka. She loved gardening flowers and loved to freshwater fish. Mrs. Lee is survived by her daughter, Gwen Alcorn and her husband Jake of Tallahassee; granddaughter, Shawna Pelt and her husband David of Crawfordville, Fla.; grandsons, Robert Alcorn and his wife Lanier and Greg Alcorn, all of Tallahassee; three great-granddaughters: Allison Alcorn of Tallahassee, Brittany Pelt of Crawfordville, and Austin McCord of Tallahassee; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m., Friday, April 7, at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tommy Doss officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Asked to serve as active pallbearers are: Gene Lee, Glen Peacock, and John Gartner. The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Thursday, April 6, from 3 to 5 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Westside Baptist Church of Wewahitchka, Fla., or toyour favorite charity.

Mrs. Teresa T. Odom, age 81, of Panama City, Fla., passed away Tuesday, April 4, 2000, in Panama City. She had been a resident of Panama City for the past six years coming from Chipley, Fla. She was of the Baptist faith. The funeral services will be Friday, April 7, at 11 a.m. at Chapel of Brown Funeral Home, Chipley, with the Rev. James Vickery officiating. Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery with Brown Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Brown Funeral Home. Survivors are four brothers: Homer and wife Edie Toole of Alford, Fla., Paul and wife Sissie Toole of Compass Lake, Glenn Toole of Compass Lake, Roger and wife Sara Toole of Vernon; one sister-in-law, Doris Toole and numerous nieces and nephews.

JOYCE J. PAXTON
Mrs. Joyce J. Paxton, age 73, of 14700 Front Beach Road, Panama City Beach, Fla., died Monday, April 3, 2000, at a local hospital. She was born in Bay City, Mich., and moved to Panama City from Hale, Mich., in 1993. Mrs. Paxton was a retired cook from Bangor Township School and was of the Methodist faith. She is survived by her husband of 13 years, George Paxton of Panama City Beach; two daughters, Nancy Wright of Bay City, Mich., and Linda Spires of Appleton, Wisc.; three brothers: Frank Parks, Fred Parks, and Alfred Parks, all of Bay City, Mich.; a sister, Polly Druen of Travers City, Mich.; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Memorialization will be by cremation. Services will be held at a later date.
