James P. Griffin, 83, of Lynn Haven, Fla., died Wednesday, March 8, 2000, in a local hospital. He had been a resident of Bay County since 1980. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II at Guadalcanal and Iwo Jima where he received the Purple Heart. He was a retired editor for the newspaper. He was the widower of Anne LaFever Griffin. He is survived by a daughter, Susan Anderson; four grandchildren; two nieces, Pat Barber of Lynn Haven, Judith Mustin of Gainesville, Ga.; four nephews: Walter Brannon of Houston, Texas , James Brannon of Middletown, Md., Greg Griffin of Palatka, Fla., Phillip Griffin of Melbourne, Fla., and a sister-in-law, Mispah Griffin of Trenton, Fla. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. in Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Si Mathison officiating. Interment will follow in the Magnolia Cemetery

Mr. Edward George McIntyre, 48, of St. Joseph Community, Chipley, passed away on Saturday, March 4, 2000, at 10:45 a.m. in his home. He was a native of Washington County, attended the Christian Fellowship Center Church and was an employee for 12 years with the City Maintenance Department in Chipley. Survivors include his father and mother, Mr. Willie McIntyre and Mrs. Alma McIntyre of Chipley; one daughter, Felisha Bell of Ebro; two sisters, Myrtle Crook and Pauline McIntyre both of Chipley and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, March 11 at St. Joseph A.M.E. Church with the Rev. Joseph Harmon officiating. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery

Mrs. Annette Marie Hood, age 51, of 211 Pine Ave., Wewahitchka, Fla., died Wednesday, March 8, 2000, at a local hospital. She had been a resident of the area since 1975, coming here from Clearwater, Fla.. She attended Glad Tidings Assembly of God of Wewahitchka and was a charter member of the Cooking Club of America. Mrs. Hood is survived by her husband, Charles W. Hood Sr. of Wewahitchka, Fla.; sons, Charles E. Hood Sr. of Columbus, Ga., Christopher A. Cutler and his wife Cathie of Panama City; and Charles W. Hood Jr. of Malone, Fla.; daughters: Brenda Jo Hood of Idaho and Melissa A. Hood of Wewahitchka; her mother, Mary E. Toole of Chipley, Fla.; brothers, Ernie E. Toole of Chipley and James E. Mr. Earl Begley, age 80, of 146 Wells St., Panama City Beach, Fla., died Thursday, March 9, 2000 at a local hospital. He has been a resident of the area since 1958, coming here from Cincinnati, Ohio. He was the owner of the Lakeside Grocery. Mr. Begley served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II in the First Armored Division. He was a member of the Board of the First Assembly of God of Panama City Beach and of the American Legion Post No. 66. Mr. Begley is survived by his wife, Mary M. Begley of Panama City Beach; a son, Donald E. Begley and his wife Vera of Radcliff, Ky.; daughters, Martha Mincey and her husband Wayne, Joyce Troisi and her husband Russell, and Jennie Lou Killian and her husband Bob, all of Panama City Beach, Mary L. Broxton of Vernon, Fla., and Veronica K. Martin and her husband Scott of Panama City Beach; 15 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, March 13, at First Assembly of God of Panama City Beach with the Rev.
