THOMAS DAVID TURNER
Thomas David Turner, age 81, of 1306 Frankford Ave., Panama City, Fla., passed away Friday, Feb. 18 at Gulf Coast Medical Center. He retired after 19 years active duty with the U.S. Army and Air Force serving during World War II and D-Day. He received three purple hearts, the bronze star, two unit citations and the combat infantry badge. Mr. Turner has been a resident of Panama City, Fla., since 1975 moving from Tampa. He was a member of the Springfield Community Church, was a 32nd degree mason, a member of the Shaddai Shrine Temple of Panama City, and was a member of the 23rd Street Coffee Club at Wal-Mart. Survivors include his wife, Dollie G. Turner of Panama City; daughters: Dannie Turner of Wisconsin, Susan Whitten and husband Bill of Michigan, Eva Springer of Tampa, Sally Hall and husband John of Panama City, Sue Wills and husband Gene of Panama City, Jo Pettis and husband Wayne of Panama City, Frankie Hill and husband Bobby of Mobile, Ala.; sons: Victor Turner and wife Pat of Brierfield, Ala., David Turner of Decomer, Wash., Johnny Pilcher and wife Jeanette of Panama City, Billy Pilcher and wife Hazel of Enterprise, Ala.; brother, Seaborn Turner and wife Jo Lina of Montgomery, Ala; 18 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. today, Feb. 21, at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with J.W Hunt and the Rev. Warren Wright officiating. Graveside to be held 3:30 p.m. in Montgomary, Ala. Asked to serve as active pallbearers are: Carl Docker, Buck George, Wayne Pettis, David Pettis, Eric Wills, Ricky Adkins. Honorary pallbearers will be the 23rd Street Coffee Club at Wal-Mart.

Frankie Lamar Bailey Jr., age 33, of Bullock County, Ala., died Sunday, Feb. 20, 2000, at Jackson Hospital in Montgomery, Ala. Private services will be held at a later date. Dillard Funeral Home in Troy, Ala., is in charge of the arrangements.

Elizabeth Ray Larisey, age 91, died Monday, Feb. 14, 2000, at National Healthcare Center in Panama City, Fla., where she had been since breaking her hip in Orlando, Fla., in August of 1995. A memorial service will be held at Christ the King Episcopal Church on Willow Drive in Orlando, Fla. at 11 a.m., Feb. 24, with Father Robert McLeon officiating.

Funeral services for Ann Jenkins Rasch, who died Saturday, Feb. 29, 2000, will be held today at 1 p.m. in Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mike Parker officiating. JAMES 'JIMMY' RUSSELL SR.
Mr. James "Jimmy" Russell Sr., 70, of Panama City, Fla., died Sunday, Feb. 20, 2000, in a local hospital. Born in Norristown, Penn., he moved here in 1954 from Pennsylvania . He was a driver for Tommy Thomas Cheverolet and was a member of Central Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving in the U.S. Air Force. He was the past Commander of VFW Local Post No. 8205, past VFW Commander of MOC No. 8205 and past VFW District MOC Commander. Mr. Russell is preceded in death by a son, Jeffery Allan Russell. He is survived by his wife, Mary F. Russell of Panama City; three sons: James Russell and wife Cynthia of Lynn Haven, Ernie and Enos Russell both of Panama City; one daughter, Deborah Eden and husband Brian Kip Eden of Birmingham; two step-children, Larry Draper and wife Othell of Roanoke, Ala, Diane Rushing and husband Jerry of Panama City; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, Feb. 23 at 2 p.m. in Southerland Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Richard White officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home this evening from 6 to 8 p.m.

Mrs. Marie Tucker Brown, age 47, of 11330 3rd St., Youngstown, Fla., died Monday, Feb. 21, 2000, at her home. She has been a lifetime resident of the area and worked in the Food Services Division of the Bay County School System. Mrs. Brown was also a member of the Jenks Avenue Church of Christ and the TOPS Club Chapter No. 56. She is survived by her husband, Ronnie O. Brown of Youngstown, Fla.; two daughters, Amy Jo Brown and Jennifer Marie Brown, both of Youngstown; her mother, Benis Tucker of Panama City; a sister, Tina Tucker Bruce of Panama City; brothers: Danny Tucker and his wife Rannie of Amelia Island, Fla., Joey Tucker and his wife Angie and Robbie Tucker and his wife Andra, all of Panama City; aunts: Tensie "Tuc" McCoy of Panama City, Mather Lee of Montgomery, Ala., and Maxine Landgraff of Hermitage, Tenn.; an uncle, Walter Gordon Alford of New Port Ricey, Fla.; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; and a special cousin, Joan Eldridge. She was preceded in death by her father, William Durham Tucker. Graveside funeral services will be held 4 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 24 at Youngstown Cemetery with Minister Doyle Smith and Minister Jack Reece officiating. Interment will follow. The family will receive friends at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home, today, Feb. 23, from 6 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Hospice of Northwest Florida, 2589 Jenks Ave., Panama City, FL 32405.

ELMER A. RACE
Mr. Elmer A. Race, age 65, of 9105 Abba Lane, Panama City Beach, Fla., died Monday, Jan. 21, 2000, at a local hospital. He had been a resident of the area since 1974, coming here from Kentucky. Mr. Race served his country in the U.S. Air Force for more than 20 years and was a veteran of the Vietnam Era. He also worked for the Panama City News-Herald for 18 years. He enjoyed watching sports, especially the Kentucky Wildcats, and playing the harmonica. He was also a member of the Faith Family Christian Church. Mr. Race is survived by his wife of 12 years: Sue Race of Panama City Beach, Fla.; daughters: Lila Bates and her husband Dwight and Cheryl Dewey, all of Panama City and Teri Drake of Melbourne, Fla.; a son: William Race of Asheville, N.C.; a stepdaughter, Sherri Epling and her husband David of Beckley, W.Va.; stepsons: Bradley Frame and his wife Lisa of Fredericksburg, Va. and Steven Frame and his wife Andrea of Kearnersville, N.C.; a sister: Donna Edwards and her husband Roy of Merritt Island, Fla.; brothers: Charles Race of Panama City Beach and Paul Race of Charlottesville, Va.; and grandchildren: Stephanie Dewey, Leslie Epling, Olivia Epling, Jeremy Frame, Jonathan Frame, and Zackary Frame. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. today, Feb. 23 at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. James Roark officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens with military Honors conducted by Tyndall Air Force Base. Asked to serve as active pallbearers are: Dwight Bates, William Race, LeGary McBride, Charlie Brannon, Raleigh Rheuby and William Layfield.
