DREW CECIL HEWITT
Mr. Drew Cecil Hewitt, age 77, of 2926 E. 13th Court, Panama City, Fla., passed away on Saturday, Jan. 1, 2000, at his home. He has been a resident of Bay County since 1978, coming here from California. Mr. Hewitt served his country in the U.S. Air Force during World War II and was Protestant by faith. Mr. Hewitt is survived by his wife, Mrs. Alice J. Hewitt of Panama City, Fla.; his daughter, Mrs. Jerris Richards and her husband Jim of Charlotte, N.C.; a grandson, Aaron Richards of San Francisco, Calif.; and sisters, Edna Gilmore of Holmes County, Fla., and Eleanor Gilmore of Ponce de Leon, Fla. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 4 at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dean Treadwell officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Mr. Hewitt's nephews will serve as active pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today, Jan. 3 from 6 to 8 p.m.

ALMA LEE THURMAN
Mrs. Alma Lee Thurman Love, 80; of Fountain, Fla., died Friday, Dec. 31, 1999, at her daughter's home. Born in Dothan, Ala., she moved here in 1942 and retired from the Bay County School Board after 21 years of service as a bus driver. Mrs. Love was the first lady bus driver in the county and was a member of the Youngstown Baptist Church. Mrs. Love is survived by her husband, Alexander G. Love of Fountain, Fla.; one daughter, Wanda L. Odom and husband Wayne of Youngstown, Fla.; one brother, Robert Adams of Atlanta, Ga.; two sisters, Lucille Howell of Tallahassee, Fla., and Jessie Clark of Dothan, Ala.; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2000, at 3 p.m. in the Youngstown Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Youngstown Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home this evening from 6 to 8 p.m.

ETHEL MARIE PALMER
Mrs. Ethel Marie Palmer, age 65, of 2617 E. 3rd St., Panama City, Fla., passed away Saturday, Jan. 1, 2000, in a local nursing home. She has been a resident of Bay County for 54 years, coming here from Geneva, Ala., and was a member of the Eastside Assembly of God Church. Mrs. Palmer is survived by her sons: Ralph Palmer of Panama City, Fla., Raymond Hill and Thomas Palmer, both of Springfield, Fla., James Palmer and Billy Palmer, both of Panama City, Fla., Bruce Palmer of Gonzalas, La., and David Palmer of Panama City, Fla.; a daughter, Brenda Vincent of Chipley, Fla.; sisters: Hazal Swarts of Southport, Fla., Francis Goodman of Callaway, Fla., Carolyn Recker of Panama City, Fla., Joann Danley of Lynn Haven, Fla., Jane Ann Suggs of South, Fla.; and brothers: Dewey Hill of Vernon, Fla., Charlie Hill of Springfield, Fla., and Ed Hill of Callaway, Fla.; 25 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and 16 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 5, at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Johnny Cromer officiating. Interment will follow at the Evergreen Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Asked to serve as active pallbearers are Mrs. Palmer's grandsons. The family will receive friends at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 4.

ALVAH R. PARSONS
Retired Major USAF Alvah R. Parsons, age 68, of 1505 Dover Road, Parker, Fla., passed away Friday, Dec. 31, 1999, at his home. He had been a resident of Bay County for 24 years, coming here from California. Mr. Parsons served in the U.S. Air Force and worked for the Civil Services Commission, was a life member of the Order of Daedalians, was a 32nd Degree Mason, life member of the Air Force Association and was a member of the Parker United Methodist Church, was a councilman for the City of Parker, member of the American Society of Safety Engineers and a member of the Parker Lions Club. Mr. Parsons is survived by his wife, Mrs. Faye Parsons of Parker, Fla.; a son, Mr. Alvah Ronald Parsons II and wife Emily of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; his daughters, Mrs. Leslie Flowers and husband Robert of Nashville, Tenn., and Mrs. Kelly Orenstein and husband Craig of Atlanta, Ga.; his brothers, Mr. William Parsons and wife Shirley of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and Mr. Ed Parsons of Charleston, W.Va.; a stepfather, Mr. Eric Crites of Charleston, W.Va.; three grandchildren: Justin Orenstein of Marietta, Ga., Kristen Flowers of Nashville, Tenn., and Alyssa Orenstein of Marietta, Ga. Mr. Parsons was preceded in death by his father, William Ronald Parsons; and mother, Helen Jarrett Parsons Crites. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2000, at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Gary Daniels officiating. Entombment will follow at the Chapel of Love Mausoleum with full military honors accorded by Tyndall Air Force Base. Asked to serve as active pallbearers are: Col. C.H. "Squire" Williams, Col. James F. Fantaski, Col. Robert S. Johnson, Lt. Col. Jimmy P. Rhodes, Lt. Col. Barry G. Swarts and Lt. Col. Jimmy L. Wood. Honorary pallbearers are: members of the Order of Daedalians, all members of the 89th (Pelican) Flight, all master masons of Parker Masonic Lodge and shiners of Shaddai Temple, Frank MacDaniel, Sam Freeland, Bill McKeithen, Dick Sturman, Don Furne, Mark Gapetz and the Honorable Mayor Brenda Hendricks and Parker City employers. Those desiring may make contributions to the Parker United Methodist Church.

Mr. William Joseph Velliquette, age 38, of 334 Camelia Ave., Panama City, Fla., died Saturday, Jan. 1, 2000, at a local hospital. WANDA LEE VANWILTE
Mrs. Wanda Lee VanWilte, age 66, of 3926 W. 21st St., Panama City, Fla., died Saturday, Jan. 1, 2000, at the University of Alabama in Birmingham. She had been a resident of the area for two and a half years, coming here from Nashville, Tenn. Mrs. VanWilte was a homemaker and a member of the United Methodist Church in Briceville, Tenn. She is survived by her husband, Behorz of Orlando, Fla.; sons: Archie VanWilte and his wife Jeanne of Birmingham, Ala., Jim VanWilte and his wife Kim of Panama City, Fla., and George VanWilte of Appoolsa, Ala.; sisters: Gloria Abbott of Carol Stream, Ill., Deloris Lay of Clinton, Tenn., and Martha Bridges of Lake City, Tenn.; a sister-in-law, Vicki O'Shell of Shawnee, Okla.; and seven grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Ronnie O'Shell and Oliver O'Shell. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 4, at the Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetery with the Rev. Joe Sellars officiating. Interment will follow. The family will receive friends at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home today, Jan. 3 from 6 to 8 p.m.

SEANIE ELOISE SUBER
Mrs. Seanie Eloise Suber, age 92, of 621 Tate Drive, Panama City, Fla., died Saturday, Jan. 1, 2000, in a local hospital. Mrs. Suber had lived here for 47 years, coming here from Wewahitchka. She was a homemaker and a member of the Life and Praise Assembly of God. Mrs. Suber is survived by three daughters: Mrs. Wanda Croft and Mrs. Madeline Ridings, both of Panama City, and Mrs. Marguerite Mullikin of Sun Prairie, Wis. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Franklin Suber. Funeral services will be held at 2p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 4 at the graveside in the Forest-Lawn Cemetery with the Rev. Wiley T. Davis officiating. Interment will follow. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Jan. 3 at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home. Asked to serve as pallbearers are: Richard Wagner, Jerry Suber, Billy Suber, Donny Suber, Oscar Cook, Odis Miles, James Brown, Jim Hardenburg and C.A. Boykin.

REEVES FOLLON WELLS
Dr. Reeves Follon Wells, age 95, of 805 S. Longwood Circle, passed away Jan. 1, 2000, in a local hospital. He was born Jan. 15, 1904, in Chipley, Fla. Dr. Wells is survived by his wife, Margaret Key Wells. He was preceded in death by his parents, A.L. and Magnolia Williams Wells of Chipley; and two sisters, Thelma Wells Coggin and Marguerite Wells Godfrey, also of Chipley. He is also survived by a nephew, Griff Godfrey and wife Fairlene of Chipley; and nieces, Madalene Coggin Culpepper of Chipley, and Nan Godfrey Locher and husband Dick of Panama City, Fla. Other survivors include numerous cousins, great nephews, great nieces and great-great nieces and nephews. He was a graduate of Atlanta Southern Dental College, Atlanta, Ga., which later merged with Emory University. He began his dental practice in Panama City in 1926. His practice continued for 49 years. Dr. Wells was a member of the First United Methodist Church and served in many positions at his church. Dr. Wells was a past president of the Panama City Kiwanis Club, a former member of the St. Andrews Bay Yacht Club, the Panama City Camellia Society and served on the Florida State Board of Dental Examiners. He was renowned in the area and throughout the country as an ardent camellia enthusiast. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. today, Jan. 3 at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Si Mathison and the Rev. Doug Newton officiating. Interment will follow at the Evergreen Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Asked to serve as active pallbearers are: Dr. Neal Goss, Dr. David Hallmon, Mr. Fred Crosby, and Mr. Joe Manning.

Funeral services for James Ricky Griner of 4115 Wood St., Panama City, who died Dec. 31, 1999, will be held today at 10 a.m. in Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dennis Hopkins officiating. Mr. Robert V. Hampton, 49, of 1320 Lincoln Drive, died Wednesday, Dec. 29 at his home. He was a native of Iron City, Ga., but had been a longtime resident of Bay County. Robert leaves to cherish his memories his devoted loving wife, Jeannie Mae Hampton; and his three stepchildren: Rachella, John, Sammy Fagin that he loved dearly of Panama City, Fla.; four brothers and stepfather (Johns Jones), Sam (Denise) Brown of Bainbridge, Ga., Kenneth Brown and Eugene Brown (Leporshal McNeil), Darren Cox of Panama City; five sisters: Carolyn (Thomas) Brown of Fort Myers, Fla., Willie Mae (Nathaniel) Mitchell of Tucson, Ariz., Sandra Brown of Bainbridge, Ga., Earnestine Ford of Panama City, Dequita (Lee) Whitted of Washington D.C.; four brother-in-laws: Ronnie (Joanne) Johnson of Panama City, Joseph (Jenny) Johnson of Kentucky; Robert Johnson and Joshua Johnson of Panama City; two sister-in-laws, Ella Johnson (Freddie J. Douglas), Laura (Charles) Pate of Panama City; two aunts, Juanita Johnson of Mashasset, N.Y., Ola V. Hampton of Bainbridge; one uncle, Bill Cox and a host of nieces, nephews, and relatives who will miss him dearly. Funeral services for Mr. Hampton will be held Wednesday, Jan. 5 at 2 p.m. in Pentecostal Worship Center with the Rev. Dr. J.W. Wade, officiating. Interment will follow in Redwood Cemetery. Public visitation will begin this afternoon at the funeral home from 1 to 8 p.m. The remains will lie in state one hour prior to services at the church. The family will receive friends at the home of his wife Mrs. Jeannie Hampton of 1320 Lincoln Drive.
