Bryon David Bosland, 26, of Marianna died Saturday Sept. 27, 2003.

He was a resident of this area for 23 years after coming here from Ridgewood, N.J. and was Catholic by faith. He loved spending special time with his son and his friends. He enjoyed fishing.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jacob John Bosland in 1999.

He is survived by: his loving and devoted wife, Robin Harrison Bosland of Marianna; one son, William River Bosland of Grand Prairie, Texas ; two brothers, Frank James Barbato and his wife Missy of Blountstown, and Nicholas Stephan Bosland and his wife Tanadra of Atlantic Beach; his in laws, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph and Patricia Harrison of Marianna; and special friends, Paul and Fran Antonelli of Marianna.

The funeral will be held Friday, Oct. 3, at 2 p.m. in the Marianna Chapel Funeral Home with Pastor Lavon Pettis officiating. Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Thursday, Oct. 2, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the Marianna Chapel Funeral Home.

The funeral for T.C. Braswell will be held today, Wednesday, Oct. 1, at Welcome Assembly of God Church in Dellwood with the Rev. Charles Jackson officiating. Burial will be in Southport Memorial Gardens with James and Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel of Marianna directing.

The fuenral for James E. Bradley will be held today, Wednesday, Oct. 1, at First Baptist Church of Marianna with the Rev. Michael Petty officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery near Chattahoochee with James and Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel of Marianna directing.

Ellen P. Matthews, 93, of Marianna died Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2003, at Chipola Nursing Pavilion in Marianna.

Arrangements will be announced by James and Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel.

Robert G. (Bobby) Soule', 88, of Meridian, Miss. died Monday, Sept. 29, 2003, at Rush Foundation Hospital.

He served in North Africa and the China-Burma theaters as a transport pilot in World War II. He was a long time resident of Gulfport where he owned and operated Bob Soule' Flying Service at Gulfport Field. In later years, he also worked as a realtor, boat broker and a shrimper. He loved flying and the water.

He attended Central Baptist Church in Meridian. He was a World War II veteran anda member of VFW and the American Legion. He was a former member of the Civil Air Patrol and the Gulfport Kiwanis.

He was preceded in death by: his parents, George W. Soule' and Constance Bridget Gara Soule'; his brother, Hal Soule'; his sister, Eda Soule' Keeton; and his youngest daughter, Jessica Soule' Harney.

He is survived by: his wife of 64 years, Loletia Cooper Soule' of Meridian, Miss.; a daughter, Loletia Henson of Marianna; a son, Bob Soule' and his wife, Helen of Meridian, Miss.; a sister-in-law, Eileen Soule' of Meridian, Miss.; a brother-in-law, James H. Keeton of Magnolia Springs, Ala.; grandchildren, Tricia Soule' Morris of Collinsville, Nichole Soule' Nix of Memphis, Tenn., Toni McAdory of Vicksburg, Anita Shoemaker of Decatur, Connie Henson of Waterford, Mich., John Henson of Atlanta, Ga., and Chelsea Walker of Marianna; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held Thursday, Oct. 2, at 3 p.m. at Webb Funerla Home Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Danny Chisolm officiating. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery with James F. Webb Funeral Home in charge of the arrangments.

Visitation will be Wednesday, Oct. 1, from 5 until 7 p.m. at Webb Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Kevin McAdory, Andy Nix, Jimmy Shoemaker, Bruce Gibson, Gary Golden, Lee Espey, Casey Shoemaker, and Matthew Morris.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the MS Industrial Heritage Museum/Soule' Live Steam Museum, P.O. Box 5031, Meridian, Miss. 39302.

Matilda Smith Johnson, better known as Tillie, 65, of Ypsalanti, Mich. has died.

She is survived by: her husband, Charles P. Johnson; two sons, Tyrone Keith Wade Sr. (Rene), and Derrick Johnson; a daughter, Bridgette Renaye Nelson (Robert), all of Ypsalanti, Mich.; five grandchildren; a sister, Vera Spears (Enos) of Cottondale; and two brothers, Timothy Smith (Jerlean) of Ypsalanti, Mich., and Cortez Smith Jr. (Katherine) of Flint, Mich.

A graveside memorial service will be held Friday, Oct. 3, at 11 a.m. at Bethlehem African Methodist Episcopal Church Cemetery with the Rev. E. Smith officiating. Vann Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Benjamin McCallister (better known as Pammy), 52, of Marianna died Sept. 27, 2003, in Southeast Medical Center in Dothan, Ala.

He was a member of the Holyneck Missionary Baptist Church and a member of the Traveling Angels.

He is survived by: his wife, Patricia McCallister of Marianna; daughters, Carla Oliver (Chris), Corissa McCallister, and Samantha McCallister, all of Marianna; a son, Alvin McCallister of Ft. Bragg, N.C.; a sister, Lillie Lawrence of Graceville; four brothers, the Rev. Walter McCallister (Mary) of Greenwood, the Rev. Arlester McCallister (Mattie), the Rev. Joseph McCallister (Lisa), all of Marianna, and William Gray of Marianna; and four grandchildren.

The funeral will be held Saturday, Oct. 4, at 1:30 p.m. at Holyneck Missionary Baptist Church with the Revs. Charles Peterson, H.E. Taylor, Charles Flowers, Henry Olds, and Prophet Willie Clark officiating. Burial will be at Springfield Cemetery.

The body will lie at the church one hour prior to the funeral.

Vann Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Clarence Paul "Spitter" Yon, 70, of Malone died Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2003, at Southeast Medical Center in Dothan, Ala. following an extended illness.

He was of the Baptist faith and a lifelong resident of Jackson County. He was a retired logger for B.R. Barrentine and Ed Evans logging companies.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Cisroe and Rose Etta Yon and one brother, Pierce Yon.

He is survived by: his loving wife of 40 years, Genella Anderson Yon of Malone; two sons, Gary Yon and his wife, Karen of Cottonwood, Ala. and Paul Yon and his fiancee, Sharron Pickens of Cottonwood, Ala.; one daughter, Loretta Hinson and her friend, Matt Land of Bascom; two sisters, Gladys Casey of Marianna and Velzie Huges and her husband, Alex of Marianna; four grandchildren, Joshua Yon of Cottonwood, Ala., Krystal Hinson of Bascom, David Crooms of Cottonwood, Ala., and Marrissa Yon of Cottonwood, Ala.; a host of nephews and nieces; one brother-in-law, Earl Anderson of Malone; one sister-in-law, Jean Anderson of Malone; a special friend, Dorothy Mathis of Malone; and his best friend, his dog Chipper.

The funeral will be held Friday, Oct. 3, at 10 a.m. at Collins Chapel with the Rev. James Bradley officiating. Burial will be in the family plot at Collins Chapel Cemetery.

The family will receive friends today, Thursday, Oct. 2, from 6 until 8 p.m. at Lord Funeral Home, 3449 Caverns Road in Marianna.

Ellen P. Matthews, 93, of Marianna died Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2003, in Marianna.

She was born in Metter, Ga. and the family moved to Miami in 1926. During World War II she worked in New Orleans and eventually moved to Los Angeles, Calif. where she worked as a secretary and bookkeeper. After retiring, she and her husband, Render Matthews moved to Arizona where they enjoyed rock hunting. 23 years ago she moved to Marianna. She loved gardening and was an excellent cook.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Render Matthews in 1997.

She is survived by: three sisters, Mildred Lanier of Inverness, Irma Bergler of Ocala, and Betty Walker of Davis, Okla.; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 4 until 5 p.m. CDT Saturday, Oct. 4, at Maddox Chapel. Cremation will follow. James and Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel of Marianna directing.

W.G. Mercer, 69, of Enterprise, Ala. died Friday, Oct. 3, 2003, in Flowers Hospital in Dothan, Ala. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Corbin Mercer. He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Vivian and Morris Moore of Enterprise, Ala.; two sons and one daughter in law, Gerald Mercer, and Farrial and Teresa Mercer of Enterprise, Ala.; two sisters, Magdalene Walsingham of Lynn Haven and Carol Obert of Chipley; seven grandchildren, Christy Grimes, Ashley and Stacey Moore, Jason and Mandy Mercer, Nikki and Chase Mercer; and one great-grandchild, Hunter Mercer. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 5, at Searcy Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Chad Corbin officiating. Burial will be in Meadowlawn Cemetery with Searcy Funeral Home directing. Visitation was from 6 until 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, at the funeral home.

Samuel Myers McAllister Sr., 63, of Tifton died Monday, Oct. 6, 2003.

He is survived by: his wife, Mary R. McAllister; children, Sue Petty and her husband Michael, Marcia Hughes and her husband Steve, and Samuel Myers McAllister Jr.; and five grandchildren, Mallory and Hank Petty of Marianna, and Steven, Hannah and Samuel Hughes of Savannah.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Liberty Baptist Church with Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals of Tifton, Ga. in charge of the arrangements.

Visitation will be from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. tonight at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.

Tommy Delayne Ellis, 45, a resident of Wetumpka, Ala. died Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2003.

He was a deacon at Mt. Hebron West Baptist Church, also having served as the 9th and 10th grade Sunday School teacher, was an active part of the FAITH team, and was very dedicated to his church. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed spending time in the outdoors. He was a devoted employee of Wade Sand and Gravel Company for many years, serving as plant foreman.

Mr. Ellis, who was a loving husband and father, is survived by: his wife, Lisa Ellis of Wetumpka, Ala.; a daughter, "who was the apple of his eye," Cassidy Danielle Ellis of Wetumpka, Ala.; his mother, Norma Ellis of Grand Ridge; two brothers, Dallas Ellis of Marianna and Darryl Ellis of Grand Ridge; one sister, Barbara Bucceri of Davie; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral was held Saturday, Oct. 4, at 2 p.m. at the Mt. Hebron West Baptist Church, Elmore with the Rev. Ken Clement officiating. Burial was in Davis Annex Cemetery with Ellison Funeral Home of Wetumpka directing.

Pallbearers will be Ty Bartlett, Jimmy Truitt, Jim Browder, Buck Carter, Randy Boyer, Buel Harms, John Davis and Jerry McGinn. Honorary pallbearers will be the employees of Wade Sand and Gravel Company.

The family received friends Friday, Oct. 3, from 6 until 8 p.m. at Mt. Hebron West Baptist Church, Elmore.

In lieu of flowers the family respectfully requests donations be made to the building fund of Mt. Hebron West Baptist Church, P.O. Box 279, Elmore, AL 36025.

Verna M. Martin, 88, of Tallahassee died Monday, Oct. 6, 2003 in Tallahassee.

She was a native of Dellwood and had lived in Tallahassee since, 1932. She retired after 43 years with the Workman's Compensation division of the State of Florida and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 119. She was member of St. Pauls United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, H.C. Martin.

She is survived by: her daughters, Linda Mabile and her husband, Bill of Tallahassee, and Carolyn Collins and her husband, Travis of Lloyd; brother, George W. Messer of Jacksonville; sister, Frances Hewett of Sneads; grandson, Ashley Collins of Lloyd; three granddaughters, Leslea Manning of Cairo, Ga., Adrian Amos and Erin Mabile, both of Tallahassee; and four great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. EST Wednesday, Oct. 8, at Roselawn Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. today, Tuesday, Oct. 7, at Bevis Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Big Bend Hospice, 1723 Mahan Center Blvd., Tallahassee, FL 32308.

Shawna Ann Simpson Dale, 45, of Sneads died Sunday, Oct. 5, 2003, in Marianna.

She has lived in the area for 34 years. She was a dump truck driver at Baxter's Asphalt and Construction in Marianna. She was a of the Protestant faith.

She is survived by: her parents, Jessie T. and Hellen Simpson of Sneads; one daughter, Amanda Ashley Dale of Marianna; one son, Benjamin Adam Dale of Marianna; and one brother, Shane Simpson of Chattahoochee.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. CDT Thursday, Oct. 9, at Dykes Cemetery in Sneads.

The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. CDT Wednesday, Oct. 8, at Lanier-Andler Funeral Home in Sneads.
