Mrs. Macie Lee Hartzog Mashburn, 84, of Panama City, Fla., died Monday, Oct. 4, 1999, at her home. Born in Coffee Springs, Ala., she was a lifelong resident of Panama City. She was a childcare worker at Hiland Park Baptist Church and retired after 32 years, as well as being a member of the church. Mrs. Mashburn is preceded in death by her husband, Barney Mashburn and a son, Barney Hilton. She is survived by three sons: Richard M. Mashburn and wife Sandy of LaPlace, La., C. Michael Mashburn of Atlanta, Ga., Carl L. Mashburn of wife Judy of Panama City; one daughter, Patricia "Pat" Joiner and husband Wayne and a special daughter, Barbara Fuson Adams and husband Billy all of Panama City; daughter-in-law, Ann Mashburn of Santa Rosa Beach, Fla.; two sisters: Ocie Bell of Valpariso, Fla., and Doris Avery and husband Kermit of Panama City; 19 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, Oct. 7 at 10 a.m. in Hiland Park Baptist with the Rev. Don Pickerill and the Rev. Robert Strickland officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home this evening from 6 to 8 p.m.

David Eric McGeachy, 28, of Tallahassee, died Sunday, Oct. 3, 1999. He was a lifelong member of Tallahassee, employed with Cornerstone of North Florida as a cable subcontractor and a member of Faith Baptist Church. Mrs. Monica B. Olvera, age 67, 1808 Clay Ave., Panama City, Fla., died on Friday, Oct. 1, 1999, at her residence. She had been a resident of the area since 1956 coming here from the Philippines. Mrs. Olvera was a homemaker and enjoyed doll making and doll dressing. She is survived by her nephew, Benedick B. Benedicto of Alexandria, Va. Eileen M. Owens, 42, of 2607 Ferol Lane, Lynn Haven, daughter of Colonel (USAF-RET) and Mrs. Robert Gregor, died Monday evening, Oct. 4, 1999, of injuries sustained in a car accident. She was employed by Buffalo Rock and had formerly lived at Scott AFB, Ill., Tyndall AFB, Fla., Washington D.C., Albrook AFB, CZ, and Colorado Springs, Colo. before settling in the Panama City area in 1972. She is also survived by a sister; Ann Fleming and her husband, David, of Brussels, Belgium; niece, Katherine B. Fleming; grandmother, Mary M. He worked as an Insulator for Arizona Chemical Company and was protestant by faith. Irene Ruth Darna, 61, of Highland View, passed away Wednesday morning at her home following a brief illness. Born in Miami, she lived most of her life in Marathon and the Florida Keys before coming here 20 years ago. She worked as a cook at local restaurants including Linda's Restaurant, and most recently, Henderson's Restaurant. Survivors include her children: Barbara Nunnery of Wewahitchka, Marvin Darna of Oriental, N.C., Debra Gay of Highland View, Macheri Slaton of Cleveland, Ga., Fonda Chehardy of Highland View, Jean Hinote of Howard Creek and Tina Shearer of St. Joe Beach; 19 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters: Patsy Wilson of Gulfport, Miss. and Faye Culmer of Highland View; two brothers: Gene Culmer of Marathon and Bobby Culmer of Orlando; and a special friend, Gladys Bass. Master Sgt. David Mandl, age 40, of 109 Christie Lane, Callaway, Fla., died Sunday, Oct. 3, 1999 as the result of an vehicular accident. He had been a resident of the area since 1993 coming here from Fort Walton. and was Catholic by faith. Msgt. Mandl served his country for 19 years in the U. S. Air Force.
