Candi Michelle Douglas, 16, of Cottondale died Saturday, August 16, 2003, as the result of an automobile accident.
She was born in Pensacola and had been a lifelong resident of Cottondale. She was of the Pentecostal faith and a member of the Liberty Church in Vernon. She was a member of the Beta Club, she played center field for the girls softball team in Cottondale and she was an SGA representative. She also belonged to the FCCLA and was very active in the youth group at her church.
She is survived by her mother and father, James Douglas and Angela Gilmore; her grandmother and guardian, Dorothy Douglas of Cottondale; maternal grandmother, Linda Osborne of Dothan, Ala.; one brother, Sean Douglas of Cottondale; one sister, Brandi Purvis of Cottondale; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
The funeral will be held Friday, August 22, at 3:30 p.m. in the Cottondale High School gymnasium with the Rev. Dennis Boyett officiating. Burial will be in the family plot in the Alford Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Lord Funeral Home Thursday night, August 21, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.
Ruthie Mae Neel, 72, of Port St. Joe died Tuesday, August 19, 2003, at Gulf Pines Hospital in Port St. Joe.
She was a native of Marianna, and moved to Port St. Joe in 1960 where she was a homemaker.
She is survived by her husband of almost 51 years, Howard Neel of Port St. Joe; two sons, Wayne Neel and his wife, Fonda of Tallahassee, and Virgal Neel and his wife, Debbie of Beacon Hill; one brother, William Albert Long of Sneads; and one sister, Mae McAllister of Marianna.
The funeral will be held Friday, August 22, at 10 a.m. CDT at Maddox Chapel. Burial will be in Vickery Cemetery
with James and Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel of Marianna directing.

Percy Lee Hardee Jr., 75, of Baltimore, Md. died Friday, August 15, 2003, at his residence in Baltimore, Md.
He was a native of Jackson County but moved to Maryland many years ago.
At an early age he joined Mt. Tabor Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the Rev. J.P. Glover where he served until he moved away. He received his education in the Jackson County Schools.
He was a veteran of the Armed Forces for many years.
He is survived by one son, Ervin Hardee and his wife, Linda of Columbus, Ohio; one sister, Lula H. Granberry of Marianna; one brother, Edward A. Hardee of Quincy; one granddaughter, Roshanna L. Hardee of Columbus, Ohio; one special granddaughter, Evelyn Washington of Baltimore, Md.; and two aunts, Irene Day of Safety Harbour, and Alberta Ellis of Jacksonville.
The funeral will be held Saturday, August 23, at noon at the Mt. Tabor Missionary Baptist Church with the Revs. Hayward Teague, William Harvey and Lucious Williams officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Peoples Funeral Home of Marianna directing. The body will lie at the church one hour prior to the funeral.
Donald Lee Zeanchock, 72, of Marianna, formerly of Ponce De Leon, died Thursday, August 21, 2003, in a Marianna nursing home.
He was the owner of Red Bay Golf Course in Walton County for the past ten years.
He is survived by one son, Brett Zeanchock; and two daughters, Laura Marks and Lynn Smith, all of Minnesota.
Memorialization will be by cremation with James and Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel of Marianna in charge of the arrangements.
Emily Ann Crawley, infant daughter of Emmons Crawley and Corina Parsons of Altha died Friday, August 22, 2003, at Jackson Hospital.
Other survivors include three sisters, Jennifer, Samantha and Angel Dehn, all of Altha; and her grandparents, Emmons and Shannon Crawley of Fountain, Wladyslawa Nowling of Altha and the late Johnny Parsons.

Herbert Bruce McNeill, 93, died peacefully in his sleep Friday, August 22, 2003, in Marianna.
He was born on June 23, 1910 in New York City to John and Mary McNeill.
As a young man of the Depression, Bruce developed a strong fortitude and a wit, both of which would serve him well in later years. He studied civil engineering at New York University and graduated from New York's Mechanics Institute night school program in 1934. During World War II, he served in the United Sates Army as a water supply engineer with the 9812th Technical Service Unit, a special detachment assigned to the Manhattan Project. Before and after the war, he worked with a number in international engineering firms designing and overseeing the construction of large-scale water and drainage systems throughout North American, Dominican Republic, and in Israel immediately following its partition from Palestine. His work often took him to remote and unstable locations where he adjusted to rugged and sometimes dangerous field conditions for extended periods. He thrived on such challenges and took great pride in completing these projects.
Though not an outwardly religious man, he believed deeply in the golden rule and in family values. He strove to instill honesty and the capacity to forgive, and he was a good teacher. His life was long and often not easy, but he never wavered in his love for his family and in his love for life itself. In the end, he was truly beloved by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, John McNeill of Durham, N.C. and Walter McNeill of Bricktown, N.J.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Thelma Andersen McNeill of Marianna; his son, daughter-in-law and grandson Malcolm, Harriet and Ian McNeill of Sugar Land, Texas ; his sister, Ethel McNeill of Greenlawn, N.Y.; his brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Wendy McNeill of Centerport, N.Y. and his sister-in-law, Margaret McNeill of Teaneck, N.J., Elizabeth Andersen of Wallingford, Conn. and Patricia Hill of Vero Beach.
Family and friends are invited to a memorial service to be held Wednesday, August 27, at 11 a.m. at the St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Marianna. Following the service, a reception will be held at the family home in Marianna.

Bobbie Jean Locke, 53, of Chattahoochee died Saturday, August 23, 2003, at her home.
She was a native of Quincy and had been a lifelong resident of Chattahoochee. She was a retired teacher aide with the Gadsden County School Board, a member of the Grace Community Church in Chattahoochee and a member of the Hardaway Homemakers.
She is survived by her husband, Jerry Locke of Chattahoochee; one son, Chad Locke and his wife, Angela of Sneads; one daughter, Staci Arnold and her husband, Luke of Sneads; her father, Gene Poythress of Chattahoochee; one brother, Ray Poythress and his wife, Caroline of Chattahoochee; one sister, Carol Meadows and her husband, James of Simpsonville, S.C.; two granddaughters, Lauren and Lindsey Locke of Sneads; one grandson, Dillon Arnold of Sneads; and a number of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and many friends.

Ruth O'Connor, 85, of Marianna died August 23, 2003 in her home.
She was born in Washington County on June 4, 1918. She was retired from school food service of Jackson County. She spent all of her life in Washington and Jackson Counties where she loved gardening and cooking. She was a member of the New Salem Missionary Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dewey O'Connor and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Isaac S. Barfield.
She is survived by one son, Dewey O'Connor and his wife, Carolyn of Tallahassee; one daughter, Sharon Daniels and her husband, Frank of Palatka; three brothers, Wilbur Barfield of Wausau, Winfred Barfield of Lakeland and David Barfield of Pensacola; four sisters, Emma Reeder of Panama City Beach, Lillie Turner of Chipley, Laura Murphy of Panama City, Nettie Finley of Summerville, S.C. and Rachel Coxwell of Merritt Island; four grandchildren, Kevin Daniels, Brett Daniels, Jonathan Daniels and Michael O'Connor; and four great-grandchildren.

Norman Gene Glisson, 61, of Panama City Beach died Monday, August 25, 2003, in Panama City.
He served four years in the Air Force, was an avid fisherman and loved sports. He loved to read western novels and good food and was an excellent cook. He was happiest when surrounded by friends and family. He loved laughter and making you feel welcome.
He was predeceased by his father, Willis Howell Glisson, and a sister, Sarah Frances Glisson.
He is survived by: His mother, Frances N. Glisson of Panama City Beach; one son, Norman Glisson of New Orleans, La.; two daughters, Lori Ann Whittey and Cathy Lynn Clark, both of Bangor, Maine; four sisters, Gloria Harrod of Lynn Haven, Brenda McInvale and Susann Gullette, both of Youngstown, and Judy Domingues of Plant City; one brother, Douglas Glisson of Panama City Beach; and four grandchildren.

Bessie D. Harrison, 90, of 4195 Old Cottondale Road, died Wednesday, August 20, 2003, in the Health Central Hospital in Orlando.
She was a native and life long resident of Jackson County and was a member of the St. James African Methodist Episcopal Church where she served as a stewardess and an usher and was also a member of the Christian Aide Association.
She was owner and operator of the West End Sweet Shop in Marianna for many years.
She is survived by two sons, Morris Harrison and wife, Daisy of Tampa, and Gary Harrison and his wife, Ruth of Miami; one daughter, Naomi Harrison of Orlando; one sister, Mary Frances White of Marianna; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday, August 27, at 1 p.m. at the St. James African Methodist Episcopal Church with the Revs. Carlton Taylor, Francis Menchion and Minister Christine Johnson officiating. Burial will be in the Bethlehem Church Cemetery
in Cottondale with Peoples Funeral Home of Marianna directing.
