Lettie Monette Bush, 70, of Marianna died Monday, July 21, 2003, in Marianna.
A native of Slocomb, Ala., she had lived most of her life in Jackson County. She was a homemaker and attended Heritage Cathedral Church in Marianna.
She is survived by her husband, Louie John Bush Sr. of Marianna; one son, Louie John Bush Jr.; three daughters, Vanita Turner and her husband, John of Cottondale, Connie Jo McFatter of Sunny Hills, and Virginia Gilbert of Tallahassee; one brother, Clarence Lockard of Defuniak Springs; five sisters, Audrey Bush of Marianna, Anne Smith of Apopka, Ruby Knight of Tampa, Billie Whitlock of Sefner, and Mary Oalmann of Chalmette, La.; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held Thursday, July 24, at 2 p.m. at Maddox Chapel with the Rev. Dean McCoury officiating with cremation to follow. James and Sikes Funeral Home, Maddox Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. today, Wednesday, July 23, at the funeral home.
Dorothy H. Baxter, 82, of Malone died Monday, July 21, 2003, at her residence.
She was a native and lifelong resident of Malone, a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester "Chess" Baxter.
She is survived by three grandchildren, Michael Baxter and his wife, Renee, of Malone, Shawn and Alicia Baxter of Sneads, and Shane Baxter of Marianna; six great-grandchildren, Jessica Munn and her husband, Robert, Angela Baxter, Tiffany Baxter, Alex Baxter, Austin Baxter, and Tyler Baxter; one great-great-granddaughter, Breanna Munn; one brother, Wayne Helms and his wife, Linda of Chattahoochee; one sister, Ellen Broome and her husband, Ronald; and two very special friends, Thadeous Everett and Evelyn Everett.
The funeral will be held Thursday, July 24, at 10 a.m. at Maddox Chapel with the Rev. Jack Howell officiating. Burial will be in Collins Chapel Baptist Cemetery
with James and Sikes Funeral Home, Maddox Chapel directing.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. today, Wednesday, July 23, at the funeral home.
Darren Wayne Bell, 33, of Marianna died of injuries sustained in an auto accident on Tuesday, July 22, 2003.
He is survived by his wife, Cindy; his parents, Billy and Elizabeth Bell of Marianna; his sister, Dianne Wilson and her husband, Mike, of Panama City; one nephew, Derrick Hart of Panama City; and grandparents, Murray and Louise Bell of Marianna and J.W. and Margaret Davis of Hattiesburg, Miss.

Douglas E. Jones, 75, of Marianna died Tuesday, July 22, 2003, in the Jackson Hospital.
He was a resident of this area since 1994, moving here from Greenhead. He was a Baptist and loved his backyard gardening and fishing and was an avid reader. He was a 1951 graduate of the University of Florida and a self-employed forester.
He was preceded in death by his parents, A.Q. Jones Jr. and Sallie Gainer Jones and his wife, Jean Jones.
She is survived by one brother, Robert Jones and wife, Helen of Bruce; one sister, Frances Prevost and her husband, Harry of Lynn Haven; two aunts, Betty Conner of Lynn Haven and Eula V. Gainer of Marianna; a nephew, Brian Chambless of Tallahassee; two nieces, Julie Prevost of Lynn Haven and Lisa Larimer and her husband, John of Fort Walton Beach; and two great-nephews, Johnny and Jared Larimer.
A graveside service will be held Friday, July 25, at 2 p.m. at the Ebenezer Cemetery
in Vernon with Pastor L.B. "Cap" Pooser officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday, July 24, in the Marianna Chapel Funeral Home.

Brooks Rogers, 74, of 210 Reid St. died Wednesday, July 23, 2003, at his residence following an extended illness.
He was born December 21, 1928 in Campbellton, the son of the late William Joseph Rogers and Lillie Mae White Rogers. He had been a resident of Dothan for 38 years and was of the Assembly of God faith. He retired from the U.S. Army after 20 years. He was a Purple Heart recipient for his service during the Korean Conflict. He also received a Certificate of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington Cemetery. He retired from the City of Dothan after 20 years with the street department.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and three brothers.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Bobbie Lairmore Rogers of Dothan; one daughter and son-in-law, Debbie Trommelen (Reggie) of Pensacola; one son, Danny Rogers of Dothan; sister-in-law, Alene Rogers of Panama City; one brother and sister-in-law, James Rogers (Ruby) of Buena Vista, Ga.; seven grandchildren, Tammy Manse of San Diego, Calif., Melody O'Daniel of Pensacola, Brian Blanchard of Lillian, Ala., Selena Trommelen of McDavid, Andrew Trommelen of San Diego, Calif., Corey Trommelen of Pensacola, and Breanna Trommelen of Pensacola; and four great-grandchildren, T.J., Brosnan, Mason and Megan.

Gregory Alax Gadson, 31, of Dothan, Ala. and formerly of Bainbridge, Ga. died Tuesday, July 22, 2003, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Campbellton.
He was an employee of the Division of Juvenile Justice at Dozier School for Boys in Marianna.
He is survived by his wife, Triwanna Jones Gadson of Dothan, Ala.; one daughter, Necaycia A. Gadson; one son, Ladarien A. Gadson; his mother, Mary Gadson of Tallahassee; his father, Robert Hollis of Bainbridge, Ga.; three brothers, Jonathan Gadson, Jermain Gadson and Robert Hollis Jr., all of Bainbridge, Ga.; six sisters, Leslie Handford and her husband, Everett, Keisha Butler and her husband, Cornelious, Violet Gadson and Natasha Jackson, all of Bainbridge, Ga., Sherry Gadson of Donalsville, Ga. and Tarrolyn Gadson of Tallahassee; and his maternal grandmother, Molly Gadson of Bainbridge, Ga.

E. Berwin Williams, 77, a retired law enforcement officer of Tallahassee died Saturday, July 26, 2003, at Hospice House.
A native of Marianna, he moved to Tallahassee in 1955 to join the newly established Florida Sheriff's Bureau. He was a graduate of Marianna High School and attended Chipola Community College and Gulf Coast Community College. He was also a graduate of the FBI Academy in Quantico, Va. He began a law enforcement career of more than 40 years with the Jackson County Sheriff's Office and was also an investigator with the Bay County Sheriff's Office, before joining the Sheriff's Bureau. He was the former Director of the Florida Law Enforcement Academy, director of the Division of Administration for the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and was the former assistant executive director at FDLE. He also served as the regional planning director and federal grants administrator for law enforcement in the office of the governor. Following his retirement from FDLE, he became the director of professional services and later the executive director of the Florida Sheriff's Association. He also served on numerous boards and committees for many state and national law enforcement associations. He was a World War II veteran of the United States Navy, serving on combat aircraft carriers in the Asiatic/Pacific Theaters. He was a member of the board of directors of the Senior Center Foundation and was an active member of Thomasville Road Baptist Church.
He is survived by one son, Ed Williams of Jacksonville; two grandchildren, Rob Williams of Poplarville, Miss. and Wendy Brown of Greenville, S.C.; and three great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. EDT Wednesday at Thomasville Road Baptist Church in Tallahassee. Burial will be at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church.

Vera Irene Nowell McDaniel, 92, of 5111 8th Ave. in Malone died Wednesday, July 23, 2003, at her residence following an extended illness.
She was born March 12, 1911 in Headland, Ala., the daughter of the late John J. Nowell and Lula Johnson Nowell. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Malone. She lived in Houston County in the Antioch Baptist Church Community until 1962 when she moved to Malone.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Rupert Hamilton McDaniel, who died in 1955.
She is survived by two daughters and son-in-law, Elva Lou Hulsey of Atlanta, Ga. and Myra Conrad (Richard) of Malone; one son and daughter-in-law, Rupert H. McDaniel Jr. (Darlene) of Atlanta, Ga.; two sisters, Ina Smith of Webb, Ala. and Hoovie Miller of Marianna; six grandchildren, Alicia Mauldin, Ga., Gregory Mauldin, Ga., Nathan McDaniel (Kim) of Kingsland, Ga., Dennis McDaniel (Michelle) of Mobile, Ala., Emily Conrad and Marcus Cherrington of Malone; five great-grandchildren, Makenzie McDaniel of Mobile, Ala., Alex Mauldin, Ga., Joshua Mauldin, Ga., Heather McDaniel of Kingsland, Ga. and Krista McDaniel of Kingsland, Ga.

Chester D. Rodgers, 80, of Greenwood died Tuesday, July 29, 2003, in the Jackson County Hospital following an extended illness.
He was a retired service station owner. He had served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was Methodist by faith.
He is survived by his loving wife of 17 years, Barbara Thompson Rodgers; three sons, Jimmy J. of Malone, and Ronnie and Rodney, both of Donaldsonville, Ga.; one step-son, Tommy Thompson of Malone; one grandson, Daren Rodgers of Dallas, Texas ; four stepdaughters, Ann Faulk of Newton, Ala., Debbie Miller of Graceville, Wanda Thrift of Waycross, Ga. and Sherri Vickers of Abbeville, Ala.; one brother, Moody Rodgers of Dothan, Ala.; one sister, Mary Emma Faglie of Columbus, Miss.; seven step-grandchildren; and two great-step-grandchildren.

McClanna Bellamy Jr., better known as "Mack," 68, of St. Petersburg and formerly of Greenwood, died Monday, July 28, 2003 at his residence in St. Petersburg under Hospice care.
He was a native of Jackson County and a 1952 graduate of Jackson County Training School. He moved to St. Petersburg in 1956 where he remained until his passing. He was employed as a drywall installer and retired from the Pinellas County School Board after 20 years of service as a custodian. He was a Baptist and a member of the Masonic Lodge and a member of the V.F.W.
He is survived by one daughter, Jackie Bellamy of St. Petersburg; one sister, Caretha Everett and husband Eddie of Marianna; and five grandchildren.
