MURPHY, Robert `Bob` Frank, 76, a resident of Zephyrhills, since 1994, and formerly of Whitney Point, New York, passed away on Monday, Nov. 25, 2002. He was a patient in the Hernando-Pasco Hospice Care Center in Dade City at the time of his death. He and his twin sister, Robetta, wire born on October 14, 1926 in Delhi, New York, children of the late Robert Clifford Murphy and Dorothy Delaney (Caldwell) Murphy. His twin sister, `Robbie`, passed away one year ago. Following high school graduation, Bob joined the Navy. In 1944. Following World War II, Bob started work with the Caroline Farmers Telephone Co. in Slaterville Springs in 1947. Four years later he joined the Chenango-Unadilla Telephone Company (later the Continental Telephone Company) where he remained until he retired in 1985 as an outside plant engineer. On November 8, 1958 Bob married Betty Boyce, one of his co-workers at the local telephone company in Whitney Point, N.Y., in addition to his wife; survivors include one son, Michael R. Murphy and Dan Socket of Washington , D.C.; one daughter, Linda L. Murphy of Zephyrhills; one sister, Patricia A. Hommel, Zephyrhills; and in-laws Sharron and Bob Piech, Lisle, N.Y., Sandra Desmond, Lisle, N.Y., Gerald and Nancy Boyce, Lisle, N.Y., Roger and Pat Boyce, Lisle, N.Y., Ronald Boyce, Lisle, N.Y., and Gordon and Barbara Boyce, Zephyrhills. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, including John and Jim LaBelle, sons of his late twin sister, and his beloved dog and constant companion, Scooter. He was a member of the George F. Reirdon Post 974 of the American Legion in Whitney Point, serving as a past commander. He was a charter member of the Sons of the American Legion of Whitney Point, N.Y., a member of the Sampson World War II Veterans Organization, and was also a 32nd degree Mason serving as Past Master of the Point of Light Lodge No. 795 for three terms. Like his father before him, Bob was active locally, serving his neighbors and local community in a number of ways including: Charter Member of the Whitney Point Emergency Squad in 1947 serving as captain, a member of the Whitney Point Fire Department serving as fire chief; Mayor of the Village of Whitney Point; Village Trustee for the Village of Whitney Point; Police Justice for the Village of Whitney Point; Clerk/Treasurer for the Village of Whitney Point; Town of Triangle Justice of the Peace; and Committeeman of the Republican Party. In his free time, Bob studied the local history of his community, eventually writing the definitive local history of Whitney Point in 1971, a volume that is still the authority for students of local Whitney Point history. At the time of his death, he was planning another book on his experiences in the Great Whitney Point Flood of 1935. He was also a student of the American Civil War, constantly reading and learning. In earlier years he restored antique fire engines for the Whitney Point Fire Department. Bob was a member of the Whitney Point United Methodist Church serving as a lay speaker, lay leader, and usher. Upon moving to Florida, Bob attended the United Methodist Church of Zephyrhills, serving as an usher until his health no longer per mitted his active participation. He was a member of the Whitney Point Rotary and the Fireman's Association of the State of New York. He was a member of the Independent Telephone Pioneer Association. Funeral services will be held in Whitney Point next spring. Masonic services will be held before the funeral services. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hernando-Pasco Hospice Care Center, 7066 Ft. King Road, Zephyrhills, FL 33541.

NORTON, Alice E., 84, of Zephyrhills, died Monday, November 25, 2002 at Hernando-Pasco Hospice Care Center in Dade City. A native of Boston, Massachusetts, she moved to this area in 1981 from Brockton, Mass. She was a retired Loan Clerk for Provident Savings in Boston and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Dade City. She was a former Grand Officer in the Order of the Eastern Star, Grand Chapter of Massachusetts, and was Past Matron of the Eastern Star, Roslindale Chapter 104, and was an officer in both Trilby Eastern Star and Ladies Oriental Shrine in Zephyrhills. She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Richard; two sons, Paul J. Zakur of Branford, Connecticut and Robert J. Zakur of Mansfield, Mass.; a daughter, Allison C. Shaw of Ormond Beach; a brother, John O. Peter son of Connecticut; five grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church on Saturday, November 30, 2002 with Reverend Kevin Morris officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, General Fund, 37412 Church Avenue, Dade City, FL 33525.

THOMAS, Pearl Mary (Nee Patenaude), born November 24, 1927, went home to be with her Lord on November 24, 2002. What a feast God has prepared for her on this her 75th birthday. All heaven will rejoice and celebrate! Loving wife of the late Lyman (Tom) (1999). Treasured mother of Mark and Susan Thomas, LaSalle; Bryan and Monica Thomas, Bragg Creek, Alberta; Terry and June Loebach, Windsor; and Dean and Belinda Thomas, Zephyrhills, Florida. Precious grandma to Kevin, Sarah, Jay, Laura, Robert, Christina, Julie, Owen and Emily Pearl. Dearly loved sister to Mrs. Rhea Samson, Toronto; Girard and Fernande Patenaude, Cornwall; Mrs. Marie-Jeanne Dennis, Edmonton, Alberta; Mrs. Alice Laflamme, Cornwall; Real and Cleita Patenaude, Windsor; Jacqueline and Roger Plamondon, Windsor; and the late Denise, Beatrice, Gilberte (Jill), Gabrielle (Gail) and Conrad. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be 1 p.m.Friday November 29, 2002 with visitation one hour prior from Noon to 1 p.m. at Coleman & Ferguson Funeral Home, Dade City. Burial will follow at Dade City Cemetery. Memorials maybe made to the Gideon Memorial Bible Plan. In all who knew her, Pearl was indeed an inspiration. She had a zest for living and a deep faith in her Lord. She embraced Psalm 91 as her very own. `Well done, thou good and faithful servant!`

WETHERINGTON, Frieda H., age 79, of New Port Richey, died Sunday, November 24, 2002 at Hernando-Pasco Hospice Care Center. A native of Eagleville. Missouri, she had lived in New Port Richey for two years coming from Haines City, Fla. She was a retired bookkeeper for the Lake Hamilton Citrus Co-Op. She was a member of the Community Church of Lake Hamilton and the Haines City Sportsmen Club. Survivors include two sons, T. Lynn Wetherington of Lakeland and L. Michael Wetherington of Tallahassee, Fla.; a daughter, Harriett W. Smith of Hudson, Fla.; a brother, R. Wayne Haskins of Lake Hamilton; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Curtis L. Wetherington. A Memorial service and Inurnment will be conducted at a later date in Forest Hills Cemetery, Haines City. The family suggests that memorials may be made to Hernando-Pasco Hospice, 12107 Majestic Boulevard, Hudson, FL 34667. FINCH, Margaret Mae, 63, of New Port Richey, passed away November 27, 2002 at her home. She was born July 21, 1939 in Scranton, Pa and came here 22 years ago from Denver, Colo. She was a merchandise handler for J.C. Penney. She was a member of Highest Praise Family Church in Tarpon Springs and was a volunteer with the Tampa Bay Harvest Food Pantry. Survivors include her husband, Ted; two sons, Kevin Roe of Sarasota, Fla. and Randy Roe of Abline, Texas ; a daughter, Wendy Boettger of Fort Myers, Fla.; a brother, Keith Burke of North Tonawanda, N.Y.; two sisters, Betty Douglas of Erie, Pa. and Nancy Jolley of Cheektowaga, N.Y.; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. A memorial service will be held Saturday, Nov. 30 at 2:00 p.m. at Highest Praise Family Church, 1350 East Lake Road, Tarpon Springs. In lieu of flowers the family wishes for donations to be made to Hernando-Pasco Hospice.

HOFFMAN, Albert Stanford, 79, of New Port Richey, died November 26, 2002 at Hernando-Pasco Hospice Care Center. Born in Philadelphia, Pa., he moved here 22 years ago from Philadelphia. He was a police officer with the City of Philadelphia and a US Army veteran of World War II. Mr. Hoffman was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #5, Philadelphia; Retired Police Prison Guard and Fire Association, Philadelphia; National Association 10th Mountain Division SE Chapter, Hernando; and former Operator of Melody Horse Ranch and Cypress Pond Retirement Home, Tarpon Springs. He is survived by his wife, Grace T. Hoffman; son, Bruce Hoffman of Hancock, N.H.; two daughters, Andrea Knauss of Philadelphia and Jennifer Greene of Miami Springs, Fla.; brother, Mark Hoffman of Philadelphia; two sisters, Gerry Schwartz of Elkins Park, Pa. and Lenora Freeman of Philadelphia; six grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

HOLT, Evelyn A., 91, of Seminole and formerly of Bayonet Point, passed away Tuesday, November 26, 2002 at Palm Gardens of Pinellas Nursing Home in Largo. Born in Trenton, New Jersey Evelyn came to Florida in 1977 from Trenton, N.J. She was a Clerk Typist for New Jersey Manufactures. She was also a member of St. Marks Presbyterian in Hudson and a member of The Beacon Woods Social Club. She is survived by a son, Raymond Holt of Sparta, N.J.; and four grandchildren. Visitation will be held Monday, December 2, 2002 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with funeral services at 1 p.m. at Bell Funeral Home, 7532 State Road 52, Hudson, Florida. The Reverend Kenneth Gruebel, Pastor of St. Marks Presbyterian will be officiating, followed by entombment at Grace Memorial Gardens in Hudson. NELSON, Herbert, 73, of Zephyrhills, passed away November 26, 2002 in Dade City. Survived by two daughters, Kathleen Morrison of Zephyrhills and Brenda Goodall of Seminole Heights; a son, Robert E. Nelson of Zephyrhills; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Services will be held 2 p.m. on Sunday, December 1, 2002 at Whitfield Funeral Home. Born April 4, 1929 in Port Huron, Mich., he was a Veteran of the US Marines and came to the Zephyrhills area in 1982 from Michigan. He was a Lutheran.

Florence was retired from Maas Brothers Department store. HILLS, Fred, of Tampa passed November 26, 2002. He attended Blake High School and was a member of the Class of 1964. Mr. Hills served in the Army Reserves and was a retired employee of 30 years with Tampa General Hospital. He is survived by his best friend and wife, Caridad Arenas-Hills; two sons, Darryl and Marlon; step-daughter, Regla Arenas; two brothers, Richard Hills and Rudolph Hills (Claudine); two sisters, Shirley Willis and Juanita Green; a devoted nephew, Josh Hills and his mother, Becky; a devoted friend, Mrs. Evelyn Brookins; and other relatives and friends. A Graveside service will be held Saturday, November 30 at 11 a.m. at Garden of Memories Cemetery, 4207 E. Lake Ave., with Rev. Robert W. Cooper officiating. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the cemetery at 10:45 a.m. Visitation is today beginning at 5 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 7- 8 p.m. at Ray Williams Funeral Home, 253-3419.

JACOBS, John Leroy, of Tampa, passed away November 26, 2002. He was a retired Labor Foreman from Tampa Shipyard. He is survived by his sons, Virgil (Laurine) and Vernon (Alma); niece, Ethel Lee Young; grandchildren, Cynthia Jacobs, Felicia Sykes (Antonio), Mildred Jacobs Carley, Sherrina Jacobs, Lillian Jacobs, Larry Williams, (Wanda) and Gail Gantt (Tony): 13 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 30 at 11 a.m. at Ray Williams Funeral Home with Rev. J. M. Rutledge, officiating. TRAUB, Betty R., 72, of Tampa, passed away November 26, 2002 in Tampa. Mrs. Traub was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph H. Traub. Survivors include her daughter, Deborah A. Greco-Canchola and husband, Robert of Tampa; granddaughters, Dena L. Nelis and husband, Mike of Riverview and Monica D. Robinson and her son, Joshua D. Wright; and brother, Bill Drew and wife, Marcia of Georgia. Mrs. Traub was born and raised in Tampa. She graduated from Hillsborough High School and worked for Hav-A-Tampa Cigar Company for 16 years before retiring from GTE after 26 years of service. She was a member of the Tampa Garden Club. WALLS, Jr. Brooks, 55, of Land O' Lakes passed away Nov. 25, 2002 in Tampa. Survived by his wife, Terry Walls of Land O' Lakes; a son, Steven Walls of Dover, Pa.; a daughter, Paula Hasenei of Lilburn, Ga.; a brother, Vern Walls of Baltimore, Md.; eight grandchildren, Amber, Jeremy, Kristy, Anthony, Dylan, Alex, Kimber and Belle. Born May 23, 1947 in Baltimore, Md., he was a Veteran of the Army serving in Vietnam. He worked as a service manager for a commercial fire alarm company, and he came to the Land O' Lakes area five years ago from Baltimore, Md. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

ALGOOD, Doris M., born April 16, 1917. The Lord called her home Nov. 26, 2002. We were blessed by knowing such a strong woman. Doris moved to Tampa in 1944. Doris resided in the same house for 56 years in Hyde Park, where she was able to stay with the care of her loving family. Doris opened Algood's Childcare in 1963. She retired in 1993, closing the childcare doors after 30 years of business without incident. Doris always considered her charges as she would her own. She is survived by her four sons and their wives, James M. and Cecilia Algood, Jack W. Algood, Stephen M. and Julie Algood, and Patrick E. and Andrea Algood. Doris was blessed with nine grandchildren, Amy, Kevin, Shane, Jason, Shaun, Thomas, Mark, John and Westin Algood, all reside in Tampa. Doris was a lifetime member of Bayshore Baptist Church. Services are to be held at Bayshore Baptist Church December 2, 2002. The wake will also be held at Bayshore Baptist Church from 9:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. Services are from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. The family suggest in lieu of flowers a donation be made to LifePath Hospice/The Pearl team.

Mrs. Chancey was predeceased by her husband, Joseph H. Chancey and daughter, Lucille Bryant. Survivors include three sons, Ricky H., Terry M. of Dover and Joseph S. Chancey of Plant City; two daughters, Rosalie N. Wynn and Shirley L. Bryant of Dover; one sister, Mary Chancey of Willow Oak; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was a housewife and employed as a cigar maker. A Baptist, she was a member of First Baptist Church of Tampa. She is survived by her sons, Edward V. and Wayne S., both of Tampa; grandchildren, Edward V., Jr. and wife Wanda, Donna L. Ritchie and husband Jerry, Robert A. Diaz and wife Bridget, Vicky Diaz, Amy Diaz and Erin Diaz; and 10 great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to LifePath Hospice, Purple Team.

EIKELAND, Victor E., 90, of Tampa, passed away peacefully Thursday, Nov. 28, 2002. He was born in Donalda, Alberta, Canada, retired from Tampa Ship Repair and Dry Dock, and was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. Survivors include his wife, Ruth of Tampa; son, Victor E. Eikeland, Jr. and wife Wanda of Clearwater, Fla.; sister, Helen Smith of Brevard, N.C.; two grandchildren, Ingrid Augustine and Lance Eikeland; and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Monday, Dec. 2, at 2 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 5102 Central Ave. in Tampa. Visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to service time. Interment will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery. Flowers will be accepted or contributions in his memory may be made to the church.

A native of Caguas, Puerto Rico and resident of Tampa for over four months, Mr. de Jesus Guadalupe was a US Post Office Trainer, US Marine veteran of Vietnam and of the Catholic faith. Survivors include his wife, Isabel Isaac; children, Cari, Paul and Lisa de Jesus; mother, Ignacia Guadalupe; brother, Edward de Jesus; sisters, Maria Cristina, Maria Dolores, Luz Eneida and Benedicta de Jesus; and three grandchildren.
