BELL, Iris V., age 73, of Tampa, passed away November 15, 2002. A native of Cairo, Georgia and resident of Tampa since 1949, Mrs. Bell was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Staff Sgt. Warren C. Bell. She is survived by her loving daughters, Smokie McDonell, Betty Jo Stanley and husband, Leonard, Darlene Copeland and husband, Robin Hall, Frances Rutcha, Rita Breheney and husband, Ed, and Teddie Mendoza and husband, Rudy; brothers, James Monroe Thomas, Cairo, Georgia, Otis Thomas, Calvary, Georgia and Bobby Thomas, Havana, Fla.; sixteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Mrs. Bell was cashier at Pop & Son's Restaurant on S. Dale Mabry Hwy. She worked at the N.C.O. at MacDill A.F.B. for over 25 years as supervisor over the dining room. Funeral services will be held on Friday November 22, 2002 at Concordia Baptist Church, Concord, Fla., with interment to follow in Concord Cemetery, Concord, Fla. Survived by her sister, Marguerite Fussaro; sons, Robert and Christopher; daughters, Joanne Maltby, Carol Vest, and Barbara Stockley; seven grandchildren. CHANDLER, Raymond Jack, 65, passed away November 15, 2002. He was a truck driver, member of Teamster's Local #79 and of the Baptist faith. He is survived by his wife, Ann; daughters, Jackie Chandler of Thonotosassa and Donna Cropper of Tampa; brothers, Elzie of Gainesville and Eddie of Stuart; a sister, Vera Williamson of High Springs; grandchildren, Nikki, Kyle and Dalton Cropper, and Cyndi Crews; and a great-granddaughter, Jasmine Rasumoff. FLEMING, Sister Mary, OSF, 59, of Tampa passed away Sunday, November 17, 2002 at her home at the Franciscan Convent. Her parents, Michael J. and Mary Whooley Fleming predecease her. She is survived by Sister Anne Fleming, S.C., of Halifax, Nova Scotia, Eileen and Michael Sameski of West Roxbury, Mass., Leo and Mary Fleming of Naples, Fla., and Paul Fleming of Boston, Mass.; and many nieces and nephews. Until her retirement due to illness in 1988, she was the Assistant Administrator of the Franciscan Center in Tampa. Visitation will be held Monday from 2 to 4 p.m., followed by the Mass of the Resurrection at the Franciscan Center, 3010 Perry Avenue, Tampa. HELFFRICH, Donald L., 77, of Tampa passed away Monday, Nov. 11, 2002. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 30 years Elsie Lucille. Survivors include; three sons, John Allsbrook of Virginia Beach, Va., Daniel Allsbrook of Las Vegas, Nev., and Robbie Helffrich of Milton, Fla.; five daughters, Anita Joyner of Chesapeake, Va., Donna Helffrich of Milton, Fla., Denise Walker of Salt Lake City, Utah, Janice Sue McCullough of Utah, and Robin Garcia of Tampa, Fla.; one sister, Jean Melrose of South China, Maine; his companion, Betty Neal of Tampa; 15 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren. A native of Huntington, N.Y., Mr. Helffrich lived in the Tanpa Bay area since 1970 coming from Chesapeake, Va. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, serving in the Pacific Theater in World War II and also in the Korean Conflict. He worked as a postal clerk with the U.S. Post Office for 21 years. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, (today), Nov. 18, 2002, at Florida National Cemetery with military Honors. In lieu of flowers, the family's wishes are, to make donations to Toys for Tots, U.S. Marine Corps in his memory.

SABELLA, Gaetano `Tommy`, 90, passed away November 16, 2002 after a brief illness, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Ybor City on April 26, 1912 to Sicilian immigrants, Mr. Sabella was a retired produce dealer. He was a longtime member of SMS Italia and a parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his parents Giachino and Maria Sabella; and his sister, Filomena `Florence` Muley. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Dusolina `Toots` Sabella; his children, Jack A. and Joyce Sabella, Clearwater, Thomas Jr. and Vilma Sabella, and Mary Linda Sabella, Tampa; his grandchildren, Christopher C. and his wife, Debbie Sabella, Celeste M. Sabella, USAF Capt. Jeffrey T. Sabella and Thomas V. Sabella; and his great-granddaughter, Christina Lee; sisters, Angelina and Sam Coniglio and Rosalia `Lily` Betancourt; and many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins. Pallbearers are Christopher Sabella, Thomas V. Sabella, Jeffrey Sabella, Sam Coniglio, Carmel A. Ceraolo, Nicholas A. Muley, and Rick A. Leandri. Honorary pallbearers are Ramon Garmendia, Mark Howell, Alan Bliss, and Gary Wishnatzki. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice . A funeral mass will be celebrated Wednesday, November 20 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 3012 W. Cherry Street at 11 a.m., preceded by visitation at 10 a.m. at the church. A private entombment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the many staff members at St. Joseph Hospital, especially the nurses on the fifth floor and ICU, as well as Mr. Sabella's many physicians for their care and consideration during his final illness.

SULTZ, Mildred Taylor, 97, died November 16, 2002 in Memorial Hospital, Ormond Beach, Fla. Born in Kansas City, Kan., she moved to Jacksonville, Fla., in 1944, to Zephyrhills in 1967, and to Port Orange, Fla., in 1997. She led Sunday school for patients at Hope Haven Hospital for Children in Jacksonville for ten years. She was a volunteer at the USO and became `Mom` to many service men and women. She was very active in the Presbyterian Church at local and statewide levels, including having served as Chairman of the Florida Chain of Missionary Assemblies. Along with husband Elmer Taylor, Mildred was active in the Avion Travel Trailer group, developing friendships across the USA. She was preceded in death by her sister Maurine Faler; and her brother, Walter Hodge; her husband of 55 years, M. Elmer Taylor; by her second husband and long time friend, Everett Sultz; and by her daughter, Martha Mardavich. She is survived by her sister, Evelyn Beswick of Grand Junction, Colo.; sons, Marshall E. Taylor of Mebane, N.C. and James W. Taylor of New Smyrna Beach, Fla.; two stepdaughters, Doris Anderson of Petaluma, Calif., and Janet Crew of Fraser, Mich.; eight grandchildren, 17 great-grandc hildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. `Mom` or Mildred, to the many who knew and loved her, will be greatly missed. A family memorial service is being planned. Contributions given in her name to Thornwell Home and School for Children, 300 Broad Street, Clinton, S.C. 29325, will honor our memories of her.

VENTO, Anthony `Bo`, 61, passed away quietly in his sleep, Thursday, November 14, 2002. He was a native of Tampa, a graduate of Jesuit High School, class of '59, and the University of Tampa. He was preceded in death by his father, Sam P. Vento, founder of Vento Oil Co., of which he later became president. He was a member of the Ybor City Optimist Club, Italian Club, former member of the Tampa Sports Club and charter member of the Krewe of the Knights of Sant Yago. He was an avid fan of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, LSU Tigers, and Florida State Seminoles. He is survived by his high school sweetheart, June Parrino Vento; his children, Anthony A. Vento, Jr., Susanne Vento Powers and husband, Jon M. Powers; mother, Catherine C. Vento; sisters, Antoinette Capitano and husband James Capitano, Cathy Jo Hellner and husband Clay Hellner; and brother, Sam P. Vento, Jr.; and Uncle Bo's favorite kids, Demi, Anthony George, Julia, Brittany, A.J., David, Daniel, Tessa, C.J. Dominick, Jimmy, Patrick, and Linette. Visitation will be held on Monday, November 18 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church from 6 - 8:30 p.m., with wake service to follow. A mass will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 19 at St. Lawrence at 11 a.m. with entombment to follow in the Garden of Memories Mausoleum. BLACK, Carolyn M., 74, of Hudson, passed away November 14, 2002 at Kindred Hospital in Tampa. Born in the Bronx, N.Y., she came here seven years ago from Atlanta, Georgia. She was an apartment manager and a Catholic. She is survived by two sons, Thomas J. Rousseau of Hudson and Scott F. Rousseau of Atlanta, Ga.; and two sisters, Lorraine Mueller of New Port Richey and Gail Francomano of Danbury, Conn. She died peacefully in her sleep. DOWLING, Dorothy Jean, 75, of Blanton, Fla., died Saturday, November 16, 2002 in Dade City. She is survived by her sister, Carolyn Falls of Dade City; her brother and sister-in-law, W.J. and Dorothy W. Dowling Jr. of Dade City; her nephews, Mark Falls of Atlanta, Ga., John Falls of Dade City, W.J. Dowling III of Dade City, Patrick Dowling of Spartanburg, S.C. and Michael Dowling of Miami Beach, Fla.; and several great-nieces and great-nephews. She was born May 21, 1927 in Blanton, Fla., to Warren J. and Sarah Cass Page Dowling, a pioneering family of the Blanton area, and remained a lifelong resident. She was a member of the Blanton Baptist Church and the Hibiscus Circle of the Dade City Garden Club. Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, (TODAY), November 19, 2002 at the Townsend House Cemetery with Pastor Chris Christopherson officiating. He served as a Staff Sargeant in the US Army during World War II. He is survived by his wife, Rose C. Alfonso; a daughter, Sonia Alfonso; three step-sons, James E. Trujillo, John V. Trujillo and Jerry Sanchez; sisters, Alice Cacciatore and her husband, Frank, Delores Triana and her husband, Raymond, Esther Diez and her husband, Robert and Carmen Alvarez; two brothers, Arthur Alfonso and Henry and his wife, Blanca Alfonso; brother-in-law, Manuel Calzon, Jr. and his wife, Vilma; six grandchildren, Melanie and Scott Planes, Thomas N.
