Mrs. Gladys Lucille O'Daniel of Marianna, 94, died Friday, March 28, 2003, in the Chipola Nursing Pavilion. Mrs. O'Daniel was a resident of this area since 1995 after moving here from Ormond Beach, Fla. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Marianna. Her life centered around education. She was a teacher for 30 years, teaching English in the same school where her husband was principal. She received the Teacher of the Year Award several times. She was a sorority member and a member of the Kentucky Teacher's Association. Lovingly and faithfully, she served her church. Mrs. O'Daniel loved others more than herself. Survivors include: her loving and devoted husband of 72 years, Henry Lucus O'Daniel of Marianna; one son, Dr. Dale O'Daniel and his wife, Judith, of Marianna; one grandson, Shannon O'Daniel and his wife, Lori, of Marianna; two great-grandchildren, Steven and Dustin O'Daniel of Marianna; and several nieces and nephews. There will be a public celebration for Mrs. O'Daniel's life held Sunday, March 30, from 3 to 5 p.m. in the Marianna Chapel Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Chipola Junior College Foundation.
