LILIENFELD, Joseph J., LCDR (Ret), 80, of Land O' Lakes, passed away October 5, 2002 in Spring Hill. Born in Maplewood, Massachusetts, he was a graduate of Port Saint Joe High School in 1940. He moved to Tampa in 1952. LCDR Lilienfeld was preceded in death by his father, Irvin Lilienfeld and mother, Sarah Mulvey. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Patricia; son, James and wife, Bell of Indialantic; daughter, Carmela Gottfried and husband, John of Tampa; grandchildren, Paul and Gabrielle Lilienfeld of Indialantic and Joseph and Amber Gottfried of Tampa; many loving friends; and his beloved dog, Daisy. LCDR Lilienfeld served in the Navy for 26 years. He was the Lieutenant Commander of the USS Recovery and the USS Escape. He was the Engineering Officer on the USS Saratoga CVA-60. He received the distinguished honor, Command in Sea button. His long and illustrious military career also included being a veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict. LCDR Lilienfeld was a lifetime member of the Submarine Veterans of World War II. He served on the USS Sailfish SS-192, USS Skate SS-305 and the USS Argonaul SS-475. He was a lifetime member of the Grand Lodge of Free and Acc epted Masons of Florida and of the Tin Lizzie of Egypt Temple. He was also a member of the Egypt Temple. RHOADS, Clyne A. `Red`, age 78, passed away Oct. 3, 2002 at St. Joseph's Hospital. He was a native of Florida, born in St. Cloud and raised in Tampa. Red was a veteran of World War II, retired from Florida Steel Corp., and continued to work at Discount Ornamental Iron as a supervisor/welder. He was predeceased by his wife, Martha J. Rhoads; and daughter Linda Stanford, whose husband survivors her. Survivors include two sons, Clyne A. `Rusty` Rhoads, Jr. and wife Glenda, and Lloyd E. Rhoads and wife Robin; five daughters, Gaylon Barbie and husband Starr, Barbara Burkett, Belinda Elliott and husband Larry, Gail Vasquez and husband Pedro, and Pamela McMillan; sister, Frances Mesa; two brothers, Wilbur Rhoads and Lloyd Rhoads; 22 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
