CANTERO, Velia M., 74, beloved and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away on Wednesday, August 14, 2002. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Waldo `Chile` Cantero; her three children, Velia Pedrero, Carmen Diez and Frank Cantero; son-in-law, Jerry Pedrero; and daughter-in-law, Sandi Cantero, all of Tampa. LINDLAU, John S., 82, of Sun City Center, passed away Tuesday, August 13, 2002 at his home. He is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 54 years, Ruth Wilbur Lindlau. His other survivors include his son, Keith H. Lindlau, daughter-in-law, Stephanie and their sons, Keith Jr. and Jonathon of Denton, Texas ; his daughter, Kim Eve Speech, son-in-law, Michael and their daughter, Kristina of Winston, Georgia;, and numerous relatives and dear friends. Born in Ossining, New York on January 12, 1920, he grew up in New York and Connecticut and attended the University of Bridgeport and the American Institute of Banking. He had a successful career in purchasing and accounting before relocating to Florida in the 80's. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend who will be greatly missed. OLSON, Barbara L., 43, of Odessa, died Wednesday, August 14, 2002 at her residence. She was born in Sheboygan, Wis. and moved to Odessa in 1997 from Prior Lake, Minn. Barbara was a computer analyst for Cytrol, Inc. in Edina, Minn. and is a member of In the Name of Jesus World Outreach Center, Odessa. Barbara loved to sing, especially hymns and songs of praise, saying that God was an awesome God. One of her favorite songs was `Joy to the World`. She sang solos and in church choirs for many years. RUBIN, Robert M., Lt. Col. USAF, Ret., `Bob`, age 72, of Tampa, passed away, after a valiant one year battle with pancreatic cancer, on Friday, August 15, 2002. Mr. Rubin is survived by his loving and loved wife of 48 years, Glenna; his two devoted children, Mark and Pamela; and his granddaughter, Breanna, who was the apple of Papa's eye. Mrs. Simmons was born in Reddick, Fla. and has been a long time resident of Williston, Fla. VEGA, Henry, 97, of Strongsville, Ohio formerly of Tampa, passed away in Middlesburg Heights, Ohio on Sunday, August 11, 2002. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary D. Vega. Survivors include his companion, Elma Mitchell of Strongsville; daughter, Sandra J. Perez and her husband, Leonel; sister, America Diaz; granddaughter, Patricia Ann Diaz and her husband, Pedro, Sr.; and great-grandchildren, Pedro and Annamaria Diaz, all of Tampa. A native of Tampa, he was a cigar maker and retailer. He also was a former boxer and worked in construction. After retirement, he worked as a security agent at Tampa International Airport and as a carpenter for the Hillsborough County School Board. YATES, James B. `Jim` of Land O' Lakes, Fla., passed away on Thursday, August 15, 2002. He is survived by his wife, Joyce; two daughters, Debra A. Zinzi, and Lisa A. Scott; three sons, Kenneth, Eddie and Tommy Yates; 12 grandchildren; and also great-grandchildren. Jim was born in Tampa, and worked as a police officer for over 20 years for the City of Tampa. He was a veteran of the Korean War and served with the US Marines. He is a member of the FOP. Services will be held on Monday, August 19 at 12:30 p.m. at Florida National Cemetery.
