STALLINGS, James H. `Hal`, 92, of Charlotte, N.C., formerly of Tampa passed away Tuesday, October 30, 2001 at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte. Preceded in death by his wife, Margaret S. Stallings in 1985 and was also preceded in death by his sisters, Lillian and Elizabeth and brothers, Philip, Clarence, Charles, Encell and Tom. He is survived by brothers, Jack B Stallings, Sr. and his wife, Verla of Fairbanks, Alaska, Parks J. Stallings Sr. and his wife, Gloria of Sky Valley, Ga; one sister, Lucy Lisk and her husband, Clyde Lisk, Jr. of Charlotte; and his beloved sisters-in-law, Mary Hester Stallings, Johnie Stallings and Juanita Stallings; plus many much-loved nieces and nephews. Mr. Stallings was born October 14, 1909 in Mecklenburg County, N. C., one of eleven children to the late Charlie Thomas Stallings and Susan Warren Stallings. He left Charlotte, N.C., as a young man and moved to Brunswick, Ga. with J. A. Jones Construction Co. to establish the Employee Hospitalization and Benefits for the company while building a shipyard. He later transferred with the company to Oakridge, Tenn., during World War II and established the same type of program. He then settled in Tampa, Fla., where he began his own insurance company until he sold the business a few years ago. While in Tampa, he gave 13 years of dedicated and devoted services to the State of Florida as Chairman of the State Welfare Board. He served on the Presidents Council of Florida Southern College and was given a life time Honorary membership award with the Florida Sheriff's Association. He served as President of the Tampa Lions Club and held the Master Key Lions International for 12 years. He was a 50 year member of the Fellowship Lodge No. 265 F. & A.M. He was a faithful member of The First United Methodist Church of Tampa and was very active in the Luther Snyder Sunday School Class of Myers Park United Methodist Church in Charlotte. Graveside services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday (today) at Garden of Memories Cemetery. Memorials may be made in remembrance of James H.
