He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Mary and Richard Conover of Tampa; and a sister, Melissa Conover of Tampa. Blount, Curry & Roel Funeral Homes, MacDill Avenue Chapel, Tampa.

MILDRED E. THOMPSON, 97, of Homosassa, formerly of Palm Harbor, died Wednesday. A native of Palm River, she moved to the area from Ponce DeLeon in 1972. She was a homemaker and Methodist. She is survived by two sons, Bobby and Phillip, both of Clearwater; a daughter, Jean Eppinger of Orlando; a sister, Katie Wiggins of Tampa; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. He was an EMS Helicopter Pilot, Army veteran and member of Christ the King Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife, Ellen; two sons, Mark Jr. and Cameron, both of Tampa; a daughter, Lauren of Tampa; his parents, Barry and Annetta of Dade City; three brothers, Richard III of Dunedin, Bennett of Dede City and Bruce of Tampa; three sisters, Anne Speacht of Sterling, Va., Claire Light of Dayton, Ohio, and Mary Sepik of Sterling, Va.; and his paternal grandfather, Richard of Clearwater. JIMMIE L. WHISTIN, 51, of Bartow died Tuesday at home. He moved to Bartow from his native Plant City 35 years ago and worked as a carpenter for Cargill Fertilizer Co. for 33 years. He was Baptist, an Army veteran of Vietnam and member of Chemical Workers Local 39. He is survived by his wife, Brenda N.; three sons, Dewayne, Calvin and Rob, all of Bartow; a daughter, Dionna Griffin of New Caney, Texas ; three brothers, John of Bartow, Marvin Chriswell of Thomasville, Ga., and Bobby; and three grandchildren.
