Kathryn J. Futch, 82, of Bartow, died Saturday, Dec. 20, 2003, in Brandon.
Born March 22, 1921, in Brewster, Mrs. Futch lived in Polk County most of her life.
She was a records clerk with the Bartow Police Department for many years. She was a member of Holy Trinity Episcopal in Bartow.
Mrs. Futch was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley C. Futch. Survivors include: two sons, Frank Futch and Lonnie Futch, both of Tampa; three daughters, Susan Toia of Palm Beach Gardens, Judy Hughes of Bartow, and Kathy Mensing of Brandon; two brothers, Joseph Tomko of Thonotosassa and Wayne Tomko of Collegeville, Pa.; nine grandchildren and two great-granddaughters.
The funeral: Wednesday, Dec. 24, at 11 a.m., at Holy Trinity Episcopal, located at: 500 West Stuart Street.
Willie Forest
Willie Forest, 69, of Bartow, died Sunday, Dec. 21, 2003, at Good Shepherd Hospice.
Mr. Forest was born Aug. 18, 1934, in Valdosta, Ga.
He was a heavy equipment operator for IMC Phosphate. He was a veteran.
Mr. Forest is survived by: his wife, Geraldine Forest; three daughters, Mary Braddy, Willie Mae Braddy, and Gail Austin, all of Bartow; three sons, Wayne Braddy, Bruce Stephens, and John Howe, all of Bartow; one brother, Robert Forest of Valdosta; one sister, Mary Haell of Valdosta; and eight grandchildren.
Visitation: Friday, Dec. 26, from 3 to 8 p.m., at Gause Funeral Home in Bartow.
The funeral: Saturday, Dec. 27, at 11 a.m., at Mt. Olive Freewill Baptist Church in Bartow.
Interment: Wildwood Cemetery, Bartow.
Edna Mae Smith
Edna Mae Smith, 77, of Welatka, Fla., died Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2003, at her son's home in Ocala.
Mrs. Smith was born in Pierce, Fla. She was a retired nurses aide, and was an avid sports fan and enjoyed cooking. She was a member of Damascus Baptist Church in Welatka, and a member of the Eastern Star.
Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, Ed Henry Smith. She is survived by: two sons, Grady Kirkland, Jr., of Ocala, and Gerald Kirkland of Orlando; one daughter, Edna Jewel Hines of Eatonville, Fla.; four brothers, Fred Simon of Fort Lauderdale, Bishop James Simon of Pierce, George Simon, Jr., of Bartow, and Thomas Simon of Atlanta; two sisters, Helen Stanley of Rochester, N.Y., and Lillian Barnes of Ft. Walton Beach; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation: Friday, Dec. 19, from 6 to 7 p.m., at Watts Funeral Home in Welatka.
The funeral: Saturday, Dec. 20, at 11 a.m., at the Church of God by Faith in Welatka.
Nina DeLoach
Nina DeLoach, 96, of Jacksonville, died Thursday, Dec. 25, 2003, at Community Hospice, Morris Center.
Born Oct. 29, 1907, in Georgia, Mrs. DeLoach moved to Jacksonville from Bartow 40 years ago.
She was a cashier for the City of Jacksonville. She was a member of Main Street Baptist Church in Jacksonville, and was a former member of First Baptist Church of Bartow.
Mrs. DeLoach was preceded in death by her husband, John C. DeLoach. She is survived by: two daughters, Oda M. "Johnnie" King and Patricia C. Luckie, both of Jacksonville, three grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation: Monday, Dec. 29, from 10 to 11 a.m., at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home in Bartow.
The funeral will follow at 11 a.m. at Wildwood Cemetery in Bartow, with Donald Kraus officiating.

Joanna F. Coleman
Joanna F. Coleman, 73, of Bartow, died Saturday, Dec. 27, 2003, at Bartow Memorial Hospital.
Born June 11, 1930, in Pierce, Ms. Coleman moved to Bartow in 1955.
She was a dietitian at Greentree Court. She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Bartow.
Survivors include: one daughter, Lynn Goin of Virginia; two brothers, George Cayce of Lakeland and David Cayce of Winter Haven; and two granddaughters.
Visitation: Friday, Jan. 2, from 2:30 to 3 p.m., at Asbury U.M.C., located at 1650 S. Jackson Ave.
The funeral will follow at 3 p.m. at the church.
Interment: Wildwood Cemetery in Bartow.

George W. Horton
George W. Horton, 75, of Fort Meade, died Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2003, at his residence.
Born Oct. 6, 1928, in Bradford County, Pa., Mr. Horton moved to Fort Meade from Troy, Pa., five years ago.
He was the owner/operator of George Horton Refrigeration. He was a former member of First Baptist Church of Troy, a member of First Church of God in Fort Meade, and a member of the Bowling Hall of Fame and the Volunteer Fire Department in Troy.
Mr. Horton is survived by: his wife, Shirley Horton; two daughters, Connie Dewey of Omaha, Neb., and Wanda Romberger of Gloucester, Va.; one son, Tom Horton of Centre Hall, Pa.; four step-daughters, Roz Warren of Slidell, La., Jennifer Pendergast of Long Beach, Cal., and Vicki Teribury and Kim Teribury, both of Gillett, Pa.; one step-son, Vincent Teribury of Gillett, Pa.; 11 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Theresa M. Adams
Theresa Marcella Adams, 74, of Bartow, died Friday, Dec. 12, 2003, at her home.
Born Jan. 16, 1929, in Holyoke, Mass., Mrs. Adams was a longtime resident of Bartow.
She was the owner/operator of Adams and Sons Texaco in Bartow for 25 years. She was of the Methodist faith, and was an avid square dancer.
Mrs. Adams is survived by: her husband, Stewart Adams; one daughter, Susan Chase of South Hadley, Mass.; three sons, Richard Adams of Bartow, Raymond Adams of Lakeland, and Paul Adams of Bowling Green; and eight grandchildren.
Visitation: Tuesday, Dec. 16, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home in Bartow.
The funeral: Wednesday, Dec. 17, at 10 a.m., at the funeral home, with Rev. Richard Adams officiating.
