Melvin M. Jacobs
Melvin M. Jacobs of Perry, Fla. died Tuesday, Nov. 30 2004 at his residence.
He was born in Wauchula in 1922. He had recently moved to Perry from LakeWales in August.
He was the son of the late Charles E. Jacobs and the late Adde L. Jacobs.
Melvin Jacobs was an Army veteran serving as a member of the Army Air Corps during WWII.
He was also a member of Shady Hammock Baptist Church in Lake Wales.
He loved being with his family and enjoyed fishing.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Erlaine R. Jacobs of Perry, Fla.; a daughter, Carol Sue Jacobs of Lake Wales, Fla.; two brothers, Elbert Jacobs and Stanley Jacobs of Land O Lakes, Fla.; three sisters, Lavonne Hampton and Glenda Jacobs of Lutz, Fla. and Joyce Dunfey of Seminole, Fla.; and two grandchildren.
Funeral services are planned for 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 4, 2004 at Joe P. Burns Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. James Howell officiating.
Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery.
Family will receive friends at Burns Chapel on Saturday prior to the service from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m.

Homer E. Jones
Homer E. Jones of Orlando, Fla. died Sunday, Nov. 21, 2004 in Orlando. He was 94.
He was born Sept. 17, 1910 in Montverde, Fla. He was a frequent visitor to Uncle Joe's Fish Camp in Lake Wales, Fla.
He was a retired mason contractor. He was a member of the Holden Heights United Methodist Church, the Masonic Lodge and he was an avid fisherman.
Mr. Jones is survived by two sons, Lawrence E. Jones of Santa Cruz, Calif. and Gerald L. Jones of Orlando; a daughter, Carla L. Cain of Longwood, Fla.; four grandchildren and one great-grandson.
A gathering for family and friends will be held Thursday, Dec. 2, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Baldwin-Fairchild, Lake Ivanhoe Chapel.
Graveside services will be held Friday, Dec. 3, at 11 a.m. at Woodlawn Memorial Park.

William Francis Kanouse
William Francis Kanouse of Lake Wales, Fla. died Sunday, Nov. 21, 2004 at the Florida Hospital in Lake Placid, Fla. He was 94.
He was born March 25, 1910 in Bethel, Mich. He moved to Lake Wales from Quincy, Mich. in 1970.
He was a retired parts analyst for the automobile parts manufacturer, Federal Mogal Ball Bearing. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Lake Wales and the First Presbyterian Church of Lake Wales.
Mr. Kanouse is survived by his wife of 60 years, Lee C. Kanouse, a daughter, Sharon Sanderlin of Lake Placid; a son, Jeffrey C. Kanouse of Boca Raton and a sister, Marie Boley of Quincy, Mich.
Memorial services will be held Thursday, Dec. 2, at 10 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Lake Wales with Reverend David Rockness officiating.

Margaret L. " Sweet Tootsie" Lewis
Margaret L. "Sweet Tootsie" Lewis of Lake Wales, Fla. died Thursday, Nov. 18, 2004 at the Lake Wales Medical Center. She was 82.
She was born May 19, 1922 in Rathburn, Pa. She came here from Jamestown, N.Y. in 1972.
Mrs. Lewis was a homemaker. She was a member of the Golfview Park Church of God. She was a clown and enjoyed entertaining at various senior citizens activities around Lake Wales. She was a sunshine girl for the Lake Wales Chapter of AARP. She enjoyed arts and crafts and shared them with local nursing home residents. She was active in her church and served as a Sunday school teacher, secretary and with the Ladies Group.
Mrs. Lewis was preceded in death by her husband, Luther Lewis, Sr. in 1993.
She is survived by two daughters, Althea North of Jamestown, N.Y. and Alice Fuller of Lake Wales; four sons, Luther Lewis of Jamestown, Charles Lewis of Lakewood, N.Y., Robert Lewis of Alabama and John Lewis of Stockton, N.Y.; two brothers, Harold Andrus of Kane, Pa. and Bill Andrus of Indianapolis, Ind.; a sister, Irene Brown of North Fort Myers, Fla.; 19 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held Saturday, Nov. 20 from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home.
Funeral services and interment will be held in New York under the direction of Falconer Funeral Home.

Clarence Lloyd
Mr. Clarence Lloyd of Lake Wales, Fla. died Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2004 at the Heart of Florida Regional Medical Center in Davenport, Fla.
He was born Nov. 11, 1916 in Caryville, Tenn. and had moved to Lake Wales 17 years ago from Knoxville, Tenn.
Mr. Lloyd was retired after 26 years as a maintenance engineer for Sears. He was also a 50-year member of the Masons and was of the Methodist faith.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian Lloyd.
Mr. Lloyd was survived by a sister, Florence Bergeson of Saint Petersburg, Fla.; two brothers, Everette Lloyd of LaFollette, Tenn.and Robert L. Lloyd of Jacksboro, Tenn., and companion, Phyllis Leming of Lake Wales, Fla.
Memorial services will be Thursday, Dec. 2 at 2 p.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home. Victoria Guthrie of the Dundee United Methodist Church if officiating. Further services will be held in Knoxville with inurnment at the Greenwood Cemetery.

Maurice Faulkner Taylor
Maurice Faulkner Taylor of Lake Wales, Fla. died Monday, Nov. 15, 2004 at the Winter Haven Hospital, Winter Haven, Fla. He was 91.
He was born June 6, 1913 in Cortland, N.Y. and moved to Lake Wales 28 years ago from Martinsburg, Pa.
Mr. Taylor was a pilot and the fixed base operator of the Altoona, Pa. Airport for 30 years. He was technical director of the International Comanche Society. He was a U.S. Army Air Force veteran of World War II serving the North Atlantic Division Air Transport Command. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Lake Wales.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Dewar Taylor.
Mr. Taylor is survived by nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held Thursday, Nov. 18, from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home.
