Velma G. Hearn
Velma G. Hearn of Lake Wales, Fla. died Wednesday, March 31, 2004, at Lake Wales Medical Center. She was 89.
She was born Feb. 26, 1915, in Valley, Ohio. She moved to Bartow in 1957 from Ohio then from Bartow to Lake Wales in 1968.
Mrs. Hearn was of the Baptist faith and she was a member of the Bartow Eastern Star. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, camping and she was an avid Atlanta Braves fan.
She was preceded in death in 2002, by her husband, Fred Hearn and a son, Bill Tanner.
She is survived by two daughters, Linda Powers of Carthage, Texas and Janis Edwards of Lake Wales; two sons, Jerry Tanner of Boulder City, Nev. and Fred Hearn, III of Port Charlotte, Fla.; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held Friday, April 2, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home Graveside services followed at 1 p.m. at the Lake Wales Cemetery with Reverend Ed Bryant officiating.

Harold Henry Hironimus
Harold Henry Hironimus of Indian Lake Estates, Fla. died Tuesday, March 30, 2004, at Florida Hospital in Orlando, Fla. He was 81.
He was born Sept. 3, 1922, in Hosopple, Pa. and had been a resident of Indian Lake Estates for 20 years coming from Fleetwood, Pa.
Mr. Hironimus was a retired heavy equipment operator of the Township of Ruscombmanor in Fleetwood. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army and he was of the Lutheran faith.
He is survived by his wife, Gloria E. Hironimus of Indian Lake Estates; a sister, Lois Mackowiecz of Fleetwood and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association.

Lemore M. Baggett
Lemore M. Baggett of Lake Wales, Fla. died Thursday, March 18, 2004, in Lakeland, Fla. He was 91.
He was born Dec. 17, 1912, in Tennessee and came to Lake Wales in the 1940s.
Mr. Baggett was retired after 40 years with the Polk County School System. He served as an assistant principal for Lake Wales High School and Winter Haven High School. He taught English and coached the Lake Wales Highlander Football team for many years. Upon his leaving his coaching position, he had the third best coaching record in the state. He was a veteran serving in the U.S. Army and a member of the First United Methodist Church of Lake Wales.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Leah Baggett.
He is survived by two sons, William Baggett of Lakeland and Gene Baggett of St. Petersburg and four grandchildren.

A crematory was in charge and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
William "Bill" Francis Gardner
William "Bill" Francis Gardner of Lake Wales, Florida died Wednesday, May 19, 2004 at Lake Wales Medical Centers. He was 65.
He was born Feb. 21, 1939 in Troy, N.Y. and moved to Lake Wales 18 years ago from Cooperstown, N.Y.
He owned and operated Gardner's Trucking Company in Albany, N.Y. and was a retired night auditor for the Otesaga Hotel in Cooperstown. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, a Life Member and past commander of the American Legion Post #579 in Cooperstown, and quartermaster of the V.F.W. Post #2420 in Lake Wales. Mr. Gardner was of the Catholic faith.
He is survived by a daughter, Sherri Browning of South Riding, Va.; a sister, Judie Garavelli of Ballston Spa, N.Y.; a brother, Robert Gardner of Atlanta, Ga. and one granddaughter.
Friends called Saturday, May 22, from 9 until 10 a.m., service time, at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. at the funeral home chapel with the chaplain of the V.F.W. officiating.
Interment will take place at The Glades Cemetery in Berlin, Pa. Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Richard Lee "Pig" Bailey
Richard Lee "Pig" Bailey of Lake Wales died Friday, May 14, 2004 at the Lake Wales Medical Center. He was 65.
He was born Feb. 13, 1939 in Painter, Va. He came to Lake Wales from Painter in 1967.
Mr. Bailey was a truck driver and a member of the Morning Star Baptist Church in Frostproof, Fla.
He is survived by a daughter, Rosalind Tess Young of Lake Wales; a son, Travis Speigh of Tallahassee, Fla.; three sisters, Frances Turner of Queens, N.Y., Gladys Hatton of Painter, Va. and Dorothy Padmore of Brooklyn, N.Y. and two brothers, Wallace Bailey of Queens, N.Y. and Clarence Bailey of Painter, Va.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, May 22 in Exmore, Va.

Reverend James H. Bradley
Reverend James H. Bradley of Lake Wales, Fla. died Saturday, July 31, 2004 at the Lake Wales Medical Center. He was 68.
He was born Oct. 3, 1935 in Clinchco, Va. He moved to Lake Wales 21 years ago from Richmond, Va.
Rev. Bradley was an ordained minister for the Church of God in Anderson, Ind. He retired following 18 years of ministry as Pastor of Saddlebag Lake Resort Community Church in Lake Wales. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving in the U.S. Air Force. Following his discharge he was an accountant for John Knox Press. He became a carpenter building homes until 1983 when he and his family came to Lake Wales and began the ministry at Saddlebag Lake Resort Community Church.
Rev. Bradley is survived by his wife, Anita W. Bradley of Lake Wales; two daughters, René Milton of Castlewood, Va. and Dawn Meadows of Lake Wales; two brothers; one sister and four grandchildren.
Visitation was held Tuesday, Aug. 3, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Aug. 4, at 6 p.m. at the South Lake Wales Church of God with Reverend Randy Montgomery and Dr. Malcolm Rigel officiating.
Interment will be held at Forrest Hill Memorial Gardens in Abingdon, Va.
