Francis M. Anderson
Francis M. Anderson of Lake Wales, Fla. died Sunday, July 13, 2003 at Bartow Memorial Hospital, Bartow, Fla. He was 82.
He was born January 11, 1921 in McKee's Rocks, Penn. and retired to Lake Wales 14 years ago from Hagerstown, Md.
Mr. Anderson was a retired machinist for Mack Trucks. He was a U.S. Marine corps veteran of WW II and Life Member of V.F.W. Post #2420 of Lake Wales. He was of the Catholic faith and attended the Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Lake Wales.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Eleanora P. Anderson of Lake Wales, Fla.; a daughter, Barbara McCormick of Hagerstown, Md.; a daughter Patricia Smith of Fairfield, Pa.; a son, Richard Anderson of Cavetown, Md.; a son, David Anderson of Chalfont, Pa., seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be held in Hagerstown, Md. with services in Lake Wales to be held in the fall.

Helen Virginia Ball
Helen Virginia Ball of Lake Wales, Fla. died Tuesday, July 8, 2003, at Winter Haven Hospital, Winter Haven, Fla. She was 73.
Mrs. Ball was born March 12, 1930 in Detroit, Mich. and moved to Lake Wales 13 years ago from Saint Clair Shores, Mich.
She was a home maker and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Saint Clair Shores. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Haines City.
Survivors include her husband, Keith Riley Ball of Lake Wales; two sons, Kevin M. Ball of Troy, Mich. and Keith R. Ball, Jr. of Macomb Township, Mich.; a brother, William Kovic of Clearmont, Mich., and five grandchildren.
A memorial service was held Sunday, July 13, at 3 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Haines City, Fla.

Roy Blackmon, Sr.
Roy Blackmon, Sr. of Lake Wales, Fla. died Saturday, July 12, 2003, at The Grace Center in Lakeland, Fla. He was 67.
He was born on October 11, 1935 in Early County, Ga. He came to Lake Wales two months ago from Dothan, Ala..
Mr. Blackmon was a retired farmer and of the Protestant faith.
He is survived by a daughter, LaDonna Welch of Bartow, Fla.; a son, Roy Blackmon of Lake Wales; a brother, Ralph Blackmon, Jr. of Lake Wales, Fla.; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Gail Dunton
Gail Dunton of Winter Haven, Fla. died Wednesday, July 16, 2003 at her home. She was 63.
Mrs. Dunton was born on July 25, 1939 in Queens, N.Y. and moved to Winter Haven five years ago from Lake Wales. She was retired after 25 years as an advertising sales representative for the Sun Sentinel/Gore Newspapers in Fort Lauderdale. She was a 1957 graduate of Masapequa High School in New York. She volunteered for Humane Society shelters in New York and Fort Lauderdale. She was of the Protestant faith.
She is survived by two sisters, Faith Stafford of Portland, Ore. and Joan Vaughn of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; a brother, Glenn Schuessler of Vero Beach, Fla. and her former husband, Jerry Dunton of Lake Wales, Fla.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, August 16 at 11 a.m. at the Lake Wales Lutheran Church with Dr. John V. Glamann officiating.

Robert S. Erdman
Robert S. Erdman of Commerce Township, Michigan and Lake Wales, Fla. died Sunday, July 13, 2003. He was 76.
Mr. Erdman was retired from the Iron Workers Local #25 and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose in Winter Haven, Fla. and the Keenagers in Lake Wales, Fla. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Edna Erdman and two sons, Howard Schult and Charles Schult..
He is survived by four sons, Gerald Gould of Texas, Stanley Schult of Kentucky, Robert Erdman of Rochester and William Erdman of Commerce; a daughter, Pam Stone of Waterford; two sisters, Gerda Walker and Aggie Wothe and a brother, Bill Erdman.
Funeral services were held July 17, 2003 at the Riverside Chapel, Simpson-Modetz Funeral Home, 5630 Pontiac Lake Road, Waterford, MI.

Vernon Henry Fairweather
Vernon Henry Fairweather of Lake Wales, Fla. died Tuesday, July 8, 2003. He was 78.
Mr. Fairweather was born Feb. 16, 1925 in Trelawyn, Jamaica. He came to Lake Wales 50 years ago.
He was a retired Orderly Supervisor for the Lake Wales Medical Centers, retiring after 38 years of employment. He was a member of Allen Temple A.M.E. Church.
Mr. Fairweather is survived by his wife, Beverley Hamilton-Fairweather of Lake Wales; two daughters, Elana Thompson of Lake Wales, Fla. and Linda Copeland of Nashville, Tenn.; three sons, Grantley "Bruce" Grant of Miami, Fla., Rodney Fairweather of Los Angeles, Calif. and Harold Fairweather of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; three step daughters, Billie Collins of San Diego, Calif., Sheryl Cherrington of Richmond, Va. and Marie Cherrington-Gray of Winter Haven, Fla; a stepson, Leachman "Devon" Cherrington of Lake Wales; a sister, Veronica Lawrence of Ontario, Canada; brothers, Clovis Fairweather and Allan Fairweather, both of Trelawny, Jamaica, and Jimmy Fairweather of Kingston, Jamaica; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Friday, July 18 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Alexander Funeral Home, Lake Wales. The funeral service will be Saturday, July 19 at 11 a.m. at the Allen Temple A.M.E. Church, 241 C Street, Lake Wales. Interment will be at the Lake Wales Cemetery.

Arthur L. "Roy" Haught
Arthur L. " Roy" Haught of Lake Wales, Fla. died Monday, July 21, 2003, at his residence. He was 80.
He was born on Dec. 8, 1922 in Indianapolis, Ind. and moved to Polk County 30 years ago. He was a chief electrician and the owner and operator for Roy Haught and Associates. He was of the Protestant faith and attended several churches. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U. S. Army. Mr. Haught was an ordained minister and a member of the Full Gospel Businessmen Fellowship. He also enjoyed dancing and fishing.
He is survived by his wife, Frankie Haught; a daughter, Jodie Blunck of Dahlonega, Ga.; a son, Terry Haught of Alpharetta, Ga.; five stepdaughters, Yvonne Duke of Haines City, Fla., Julie Freeman of Roanoke, Va., Joan Tiger of Homer, N.Y., Lena O'Dell from Ilion, N.Y. and Justine Caroselli of Rockland Co., N.Y.; five stepsons, Bo Duke and Tim Duke, both of Haines City, Fla.; Richard Olsen of Fallsburg, N.Y., Clifford Olsen of Arizona and Charlie Olsen of Lock Sheldrake, N.Y.; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services are scheduled for 7 p.m., Thursday, July 24 at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home with Brother William "Bill" Spencer officiating. Interment is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. Friday, July 25 at the Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Fla.Visitation is scheduled July 25 from 6 p.m. until service time at 7 p.m.
