Clamp J. Wilson
Clamp J. Wilson, 58, of Delaware, formerly of Bartow, died Wednesday, April 19, 2006, in Bear, Del.
Born in Madison on Aug. 7, 1947, Mr. Wilson moved to Bartow in 1958.
A 1966 graduate of Union Academy, he went on to the South Carolina Trade School, where he took drafting. He served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam.
Mr. Wilson was preceded in death by two brothers.
Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Deborah R. Wilson; one daughter, Tanille Wilson of Tampa; one brother, Major A. Wilson and wife, Sherry, of Jasper, Texas; and seven sisters, Jessica Wilson, Doretha Dungee, Bennie L. Wilson, all of Delaware, Lillie M. Ghent and husband, James, of Bartow, Inetta Wilson of Ocala, Rosanna Mayfield of Miami, and Carlie M. Stewart and husband, Grafton, of Baltimore.
The funeral: Thursday, April 27, at 11 a.m., at Pilgrim Baptist Church in Newark, Del.

Wanda Perry Daymon
Wanda Perry Daymon, 56, formerly of Bartow, died at her home in Lake Placid, Friday, April 14, 2006, of cancer.
Born Jan. 21, 1950, Ahoskie, N.C., Mrs. Daymon grew up in Bartow and was a graduate of Polk Community College and the University of Florida, with a bachelor's degree in journalism and minors in marketing and education.
She worked in print journalism for several years, serving as food editor for the Bradenton Herald from 1972 to 1973, features writer for the St. Petersburg Times/Manatee Times edition from 1976 to 1978, and as features writer for the Tampa Tribune from 1979 to 1983.
Mrs. Daymon then moved into a public relations career, working as director of information services at Manatee Community College. Since 1998 she has been director of community relations and marketing at South Florida Community College in Avon Park.
She received honorary life membership from the Florida Association of Community Colleges (FACC) in 1996, serving as president of the Institutional Advancement Coalition, working with funding foundations and community relations. She received several awards from the FACC: the Presidential Award for extraordinary service, commitment and education in 1984 and 1991; the Jim Mulcahey Award for extraordinary professionalism in 1992; the Outstanding Contributor/Fundraiser Award in 1995; and Awards of Excellence for Outstanding Publications and Marketing Pieces from 1987-1990, 1992, 1994 and 1996.
Mrs. Daymon also served on the National Council for Marketing and Public Relations since 1986, and won the Bronze Medallion Award for a school catalog in 1995, and the Paragon Award for an annual report in 1990.
She was active in the United Way of Manatee County, Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Manatee County, the Avon Park Chamber of Commerce, and the Avon Park Noon Rotary.
Family and friends remember her as someone with a great sense of humor, who loved her family, the college where she worked, and the Gators.
Mrs. Daymon had fought cancer for several months, undergoing chemotherapy, and had recently returned to work. Her sister, Mitzi G. Perry, died in January of this year. She also was preceded in death by her parents, Marjory and Robert Perry.
Survivors include her husband, Jason E. Daymon, Jr., of Lake Placid; three daughters, Brooke C. Shook of North Port, Shannon Y. Warner of Lake Placid, and Lisa M. Yarrow of Charlotte, N.C.; her father, Ralph W. Ward, Sr.; her stepmother, Ethel B. Ward of Virginia Beach, Va.; two sisters, Bobbi Jo Perry of Lakeland, and Sheila N. Miller of Virginia Beach, Va.; one brother, Ralph W. Ward, Jr., of Moyock, N.C.; and three grandchildren, Tyler Warner and Summer Warner of Lake Placid, and Peyton Shook of North Port.
A celebration of life will be held Friday, April 21, at 3 p.m. at the Four Points by Sheraton, Chateau Elan, 15 Midway Drive, Sebring (phone 863-655-6252).

Cecil H. Harrison
Cecil H. Harrison, 62, of Rochelle, Ga., died Tuesday, April 18, 2006, at Regency Hospital of Central Georgia in Macon.
Mr. Harrison was born in Wilcox County, Ga., on March 31, 1944, to the late John L. Harrison and Ollie Mae Livingston Harrison.
He was a truck driver, and an employee of International Minerals and Chemicals in Bartow for 18 years. He retired as a truck driver from Martin Enterprises, and was a school bus driver with the Wilcox County School System.
He was a member of Rochelle Masonic Lodge #190 and the Rochelle Lions Club. He was a deacon and a member at First Baptist Church of Rochelle, and a member of the Guy Fitzgerald Sunday School class.
Survivors include his son, Daniel John Harrison of Winter Haven; two daughters, Wanda Lee Coolman of Mulberry and Tammy Lynn Arnette of Tifton; two brothers, Don Freeman of Phenix City, Ala., and Terry Freeman of Smith Station, Ala.; two sisters, Sharon Campbell of Phenix City, Ala., and Jamie Singer of Columbus; three aunts, Betty Kitchens of Fitzgerald, Donna Fletcher of Chula, and Sara Farmer of Fitzgerald; his uncle, Henry Kitchens of Fitzgerald; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and his fiancé, Sibbie Terry of Rochelle.

Lorraine Whatley
Lorraine Whatley, 71, of Bartow, died of cancer Tuesday, April 18, 2006, at Good Shepherd Hospice in Lakeland.
Born in St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada, on June 29, 1934, Mrs. Whatley moved to Bartow from Coffee Springs, Ala., 28 years ago.
She was a homemaker. She was Catholic.
Mrs. Whatley was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Whatley.
Survivors include three daughters, Connie Lowe of Plant City, Juanita Daugherty of Bartow, and Nancy Yarmie of Lovettsville, Va.; one son, Mark Whatley of Lakeland; one brother, Kevin Dillon of St. John's, Newfoundland; 11 sisters, Verna Learning, Edna Maddicks, Deborah Constantine, Brenda Johnson, and Connie Fitzgerald, all of St. John's, Newfoundland, Ruby Morse of Keene, N.H., Mamie Galina, Bunny Mahalak, Carol Heishman, and Yvonne Dillon, all of Detroit, and Rose Walker of Shalimar, Fla.; and seven grandchildren.

Annie L. Wechter
Annie L. Wechter, 84, of St. Petersburg, formerly of Alturas, died of cancer Sunday, April 16, 2006, at her home.
Born in Tombatoomba, Ga., on April 26, 1921, Mrs. Wechter moved to St. Petersburg from the Alturas/Babson Park area 14 years ago.
She was a homemaker, and a member of Rifle Range Church of God. She was a former member of Harvest Temple of Alturas.
Mrs. Wechter was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Wechter.
Survivors include six sisters, Nellie Mae Lee of St. Petersburg, Sallie E. Figg and husband, Donald, of Knightstown, Ind., Bessie V. Reed of Lake City, Nancy L. Mooney of Lake Wales, Edith L. Anderson of St. Augustine, and Sandra Faye Johnson of Douglas, Ga.
