William N. Myers
William N. Myers, 79, of Melrose, Fla., died of heart failure Sunday, Dec. 19, 2004, at Shands Hospital of the University of Florida in Gainesville.
Born in Fort Meade on Aug. 6, 1925, Mr. Myers moved to Melrose from Astor, Fla., six years ago.
He was the owner and operator of Bill Myers Citrus Nursery in Fort Meade and Indian Town. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include one daughter, Gayle Myers Weinkauf of Fort Meade; one son, William N. Myers, Jr., of Gray, Ga.; three sisters, Annebelle Studer of Ocala, Dorothy Sloan of Astor, and Diane Dixon of Marshall, N.C.; one brother, Leon Myers of Okeechobee; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation: Wednesday, Dec. 22, from 10 to 11 a.m., at McLean Funeral Home in Fort Meade.
The funeral will follow at 11 a.m. at Evergreen Cemetery in Fort Meade, with Rev. Kenny Slay officiating.
Ray Perrin
Ray Perrin, 81, of Lakeland, died of pulmonary fibrosis Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2004, at Florida Presbyterian Homes Nursing Home in Lakeland.
Born Aug. 16, 1923, in Ponchatoula, La., Mr. Perrin moved to Lakeland from Bartow four years ago.
He was a graduate of Louisiana State University with a degree in chemistry, and was a chemist at Estech, Swift & Company for 50 years.
He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Lakeland, and was a founding parishioner of St. Thomas Catholic Church in Bartow. He also was a former member of the Bartow Public Library board.
Survivors include his wife, Sue Perrin; two sons, Gene Perrin and his wife, Cindy, of Bristol, Tenn., and John Perrin and his wife, Kristin, of Panama City; one daughter, Susanna Merritt and her husband, Joe, of Tampa; one sister, Edna Perrin of Ponchatoula, La.; one brother, Pat Perrin of Shreveport, La.; and five grandchildren.
Visitation: Friday, Dec. 3, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home in Bartow.
The funeral: Saturday, Dec. 4, at 10 a.m., at St. Thomas Catholic Church, 2180 S. Kissingen Ave., with Fr. Robert Susanne officiating.
Interment: Wildwood Cemetery in Bartow.

Demona 'Tootsie' Myers
Demona "Tootsie" Myers, 59, of Fort Meade, died of cancer Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2004, at Good Shepherd Hospice in Auburndale.
Born Jan. 15, 1945, Mrs. Myers was a lifelong resident of Fort Meade.
She was a food service manager for Polk County Schools for 30 years. She attended the First Baptist Church of Fort Meade, and was a member of the Fort Meade Historical Society.
Mrs. Myers is survived by her husband, James A. Myers; two sons, Stu P. Myers and James C. Myers, both of Fort Meade; one brother, Jimmy Kilpatrick, also of Fort Meade; and four grandchildren.
Visitation: Thursday, Aug. 12, from 6 to 8 p.m., at McLean Funeral Home in Fort Meade.
The funeral: Friday, Aug. 13, at 10 a.m., at First Baptist Church of Fort Meade, 307 E. Broadway, with Rev. Kenny Slay officiating.
Interment: Evergreen Cemetery in Fort Meade.
Doris M. Card
Doris M. Card, 92, of Avon Park, died of heart failure Sunday, April 16, 2006, at the Rohr Home in Bartow.
Born in Warren County, Pa., on March 4, 1914, Mrs. Card moved to Avon Park from Jamestown, N.Y., in 1978.
She was a medical assistant, and an active member of the Women's Democratic League in Avon Park. She was a member of St. Ann's Episcopal Church in Wauchula.
Mrs. Card was preceded in death by a daughter, Elaine Card Johnson; and her husband, William A. Card.
Survivors include two daughters, Marjorie M. MacDonald of Anchorage, Alas., and Willa L. Curnette of Fort Meade; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
The funeral: Thursday, April 21, at 10 a.m., at St. Ann's Episcopal Church in Wauchula.
Interment: North East Cemetery in North East, Pa.

William Edgar ‘Mandy' Clark
William Edgar “Mandy” Clark, 85, of Bartow, died of heart failure Thursday, April 13, 2006, at Rohr Nursing Home in Bartow.
Mr. Clark was born in Augusta, Ga., on July 23, 1920.
He was a general contractor and accountant. He was a 1938 graduate of Summerlin Institute, was a past president of the Augusta Contractor's Association and the North Augusta S.C. Lions Club, and was a member of the Associated General Contractor's Association. He was a former member of the North Augusta City Council, S.C.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Bartow, and a former member of Grace Methodist Church in North Augusta, S.C.
Mr. Clark was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Imogene S. Clark; and his brother, William Thorley Clark.
Survivors include his wife, Freddie Clark of Atlanta; two daughters, Anne Clark Oeberst of Roswell, Ga., and Julia Clark Cousin of Virginia Beach; his sister, Adella Durrance of Bartow; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The funeral: Tuesday, April 18, at 11 a.m., at Wildwood Cemetery in Bartow, with Rev. Paul Morris officiating.

Michael Allen Weldy
Michael Allen Weldy, 52, of Fort Meade, died Wednesday, April 19, 2006, at Manatee Memorial Hospital in Bradenton, from injuries he sustained in an accident.
Born in Mobile, Ala., on May 24, 1953, Mr. Weldy moved to Fort Meade from Perry, Ga., three years ago.
He was a construction worker, and a U.S. Marine veteran.
Survivors include his father and step-mother, Lee and Agnes Weldy of Fort Meade; his mother, Betty Roon of Mobile; two daughters, Stacey Brown of Guyton, Ga., and Betty Lee Parker of Perry, Ga.; his sister, Diane Tavegia of Villa Rica, Ga.; and three grandchildren.
