Virginia Eddings
Virginia Eddings, 77, of Fort Meade, died Thursday, May 20, 2004, at the Rohr Nursing Home in Bartow.
Born on February 4, 1927, in Lake Wales, she moved to Fort Meade 66 years ago.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Pentacostal faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, T.E. Eddings.
Survivors include her daughter, Anita Cain of Fort Meade; a step-daughter, Beverley Murphy of Fort Meade; two step-sons, Jerry Eddings of Lithia and David Eddings of Lakeland; two granddaughters; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
The funeral: Monday, May 24, at 10 a.m., graveside at Evergreen Cemetery. Rev. David Sizemore will officiate.
Damien Kelley
Damien Devon Kelley, a newborn, of Bartow, died Sunday, July 25, 2004, at Tampa General Hospital.
Master Kelley is survived by his parents, Shannon Russell and Eric Kelley, both of Bartow; his grandparents, Cindy Fiedler, Richard Russell, and Stacey and Duncan Price, all of Bartow, and Faye and Junior Kelley of Auburndale; and his great-grandparents, Carolyn and Jack Olinger, and Arda Russell, all of Bartow.
The funeral: Saturday, July 31, at 10 a.m., at Bartow Christian Assembly, 1400 East Georgia Street, with Rev. Tommy L. Presley officiating.
Robert D. 'Bob' Fitzgerald
Robert D. "Bob" Fitzgerald, 85, of Bartow, died Monday, Aug. 2, 2004, at Savannah Court in Bartow.
Born Dec. 25, 1918, in St. Louis Mo., Mr. Fitzgerald moved to Bartow from Fort Myers 43 years ago.
He was a resort manager for Estero Island Inn in Fort Myers for 20 years, and he worked as an office clerk at Bartow Ford for 17 years.
He was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church, and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
Mr. Fitzgerald was preceded in death by his wife, Nadine Fitzgerald. Survivors include two sons, Robert G. Fitzgerald and Thomas D. Fitzgerald, both of Bartow; one daughter, Karen A. Saey of Titusville; 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation: Wednesday, Aug. 4, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home in Bartow.
The funeral: Thursday, Aug. 5, at 11 a.m., at St. Thomas Catholic Church, with Father Peter Mitchell officiating.
Interment: Wildwood Cemetery in Bartow.

Frances K. Groves
Frances K. Groves, 92, of Bartow, died Friday, July 30, 2004, at Good Shepherd Hospice in Auburndale.
Born March 27, 1912, in Clarksburg, W. Va., Mrs. Groves moved to Bartow from Muncie, Ind., 51 years ago.
She was employed as a clerk at Publix for 21 years. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Bartow, and of the Bartow/Mulberry Golden Age Club and the VFW Auxiliary.
Mrs. Groves was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Groves. Survivors include two daughters, Joyce P. Jarvis of Winter Haven and Judith P. Poor of Brandon; four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

Theresa Ellen Lee
Theresa Ellen Lee, 84, of Mulberry, died Friday, April 2, 2004, at Valencia Hills Nursing Facility in Lakeland.
Ms. Lee was born Jan. 9, 1920, in Midway, Fla.
She was a certified nurse, and she attended First Born Church of Mulberry.
Ms. Lee is survived by: three daughters, Deborah Donnette of Mulberry, and Hollie Zilliner and Melvine Smith, both of Orlando; eight sons, Bobby R. Lee and Leonard Lee, both of Houston, Texas, Eddie Lee of Tallahassee, Walter Lee of Sanford, Richard Lee of Plant City, Willie Lee and Robert Lee, both of Lakeland, and Desi Lee of Atlanta, Ga.; one sister, Davey D. Harris of Panama City; two brothers, Arthur Freeman of Port St. Joe and Joe Freeman of Lake City; 55 grandchildren, 73 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation: Friday, April 9, from 4 to 8 p.m., at Gause Funeral Home in Bartow.
The funeral: Saturday, April 10, at noon, at First Born Church of Mulberry.
Interment: Wildwood Cemetery in Bartow.
Radford C. Cheek
Radford C. Cheek, 88, of Fort Meade, died Sunday, May 23, 2004, at Bartow Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Cheek was born Jan. 10, 1916, in Ashboro, N.C.
He was a plumber for the City of Fort Meade.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret Cheek; three daughters, Celia Mae Wright of Ashboro, N.C., Lexaun C. Gilley of Atlanta, Ga., and Barbara Crosby of Baltimore, Md.; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation: Friday, May 28, from 3 to 8 p.m., at Gause Funeral Home in Bartow.
The funeral: Saturday, May 29, at 11 a.m., at St. Paul A.M.E. Church in Fort Meade.
Interment: Morrison Cemetery, Fort Meade.
Margaret Kathryn "Marcy" King
Margaret Kathryn "Marcy" King, 79, of Bartow, died Wednesday, May 26, 2004.
Mrs. King was born June 2, 1924, to Kathryn and O.R. Mann, in Speedway, Ind.
In 1944, she married her childhood sweetheart, John C. King, who was serving in World War II, and they moved to Florida. The couple settled in Bartow in 1955, and Mr. King opened K-T Pharmacy in Bartow in 1956.
Mrs. King was a homemaker and an executive secretary. She was active in church activities and music at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church for many years, as well as Lakeland Little Theatre and the Bartow Performing Arts Council. She starred in local productions of many musicals, such as "The Music Man" and "Guys and Dolls."
Mrs. King is survived by her husband, John; five sons, J. Steven King (owner of K-T Pharmacy) of Bartow, Timothy P. King of Lakeland, Mark M. King and Matthew F. King, both of Bartow, and Christopher E. King of Harrisburg, N.C.; one daughter, Marcy Kay Prevatte of Bartow; 11 grandchildren, Carrie King Steedley, Adrian King, Cortney King Parker, Jason King, Jennifer King, John Aaron King, Jessica King, Amanda King, Shane Prevatte, Zachary Prevatte, and Carson King; and three great-grandchildren, Joshua Parker, Steven Colton Parker, and Bella Steedley.
The funeral: Friday, May 28, at 10:30 a.m., at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, 500 West Stuart Street.
