John A. Knight, Sr.
John A. Knight, Sr., 58, of Arcadia, died Saturday, Nov. 20, 2004, at his residence.
Born March 27, 1946, in Bowling Green, Mr. Knight moved to Arcadia from the Fort Meade area in 2000.
He was president of his family's business, Knight Cattle Co. He raised beef cattle and farmed on the Prairie Creek Ranch for 20 years prior to moving his family to Arcadia.
He was Baptist, and a U.S. Army and National Guard veteran.
Mr. Knight was preceded in death by his father, Alton J. Knight.
Survivors include his wife of 24 years, Sue Albritton Knight; two sons, J. D. Knight of DeSoto and John Knight, Jr., of Fort Meade; one sister, Belinda Hancock of Homeland; his mother, Helen Knight of Fort Meade; his father, Alton J. Knight; and three grandchildren, Chris, Josh, and Jade Knight, all of Fort Meade.

Kathleen R. Lyle
Mrs. Kathleen R. Lyle, 92, of Bartow, died Monday, Dec. 6, 2004, of congestive heart failure, at Bartow Memorial Hospital.
Born Feb. 12, 1912, in Hoschton, Ga., she moved to Bartow 80 years ago from Georgia.
She was a secretary at the Polk County agriculture extension office for 26 years. Active in her community and church, Mrs. Lyle was a Bartow 4-H Club leader for many years and served as secretary for the Polk Cattleman's Assn. Mrs. Lyle also was a citrus grower.
A member of First Baptist Church in Bartow, she was a Sunday school teacher there. Mrs. Lyle was a graduate of Summerlin Institute in Bartow.
Her family remembers her as a woman of "great strength," who was the caretaker of the family, for as long as she was physically able.
"She spent her life taking care of those she loved, discerning our weaknesses and our strengths, and helping those she sensed needed her most," one of her granddaughters said.
Mrs. Lyle was preceded in death by her husband, William Raymond Lyle.
Survivors include a son, Ray Lyle of Sammamish, Wash.; two daughters, Virginia Brower and Linda Carver, both of Bartow; nine grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation: Wednesday, Dec. 8, 6 to 8 p.m., Whidden-McLean Funeral Home, Bartow.
Funeral: Thursday, Dec. 9, 10 a.m., Whidden-McLean Funeral Home, with Rev. Dwight Brower, Mrs. Lyle's son-in-law, and Rev. Frank Brooks officiating. Interment will follow in Wildwood Cemetery.

Marisela Maturano Perez
Marisela Maturano Perez, 50, of Bartow, died of complications of an aneurysm Monday, Oct. 4, 2004, at Lakeland Regional Medical Center.
Born July 9, 1954, in Mexico City, Mexico, Ms. Perez moved to Bartow two years ago.
She was a fabricator at Flanders Precision-Aire in Bartow. She was a member of Resurrection Catholic Church in Lakeland.
Survivors include four sons, Benjamin Garcia, Raul Garcia, Aaron Garcia, and Luis Garcia, all of Bartow; one daughter, Leticia Garcia of Mexico; her mother, Guadalupe Maturano of Mexico City; seven sisters, Bertha Perez, Irma Perez, Beatriz Perez, Reyna Perez, and Ana Maria Perez, all of Mexico City, and Macrina Perez and Raquel Perez, both of Bartow; and five grandchildren.
Visitation: Wednesday, Oct. 6, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home in Bartow.
The funeral: Thursday, Oct. 7, at 6 p.m., at Saint Joseph's Catholic Church, 118 West Lemon Street, Lakeland, with Rev. Ramon Bolatete officiating.
Willie Mae Parrish
Willie Mae Parrish, 90, of Bartow, died of congestive heart failure Monday, Oct. 4, 2004, at Wedgewood Healthcare Center in Lakeland.
Born Sept. 3, 1914, in Enterprise, Ala., Mrs. Parrish moved to Bartow from Wauchula 57 years ago.
She was a homemaker, and a member of Wildwood Baptist Church.
Mrs. Parrish was preceded in death by her husband, Jessie D. Parrish, and one son, Jimmy D. Parrish.
Survivors include two daughters, Miriam H. "Mickey" Price of Bartow and Syble L. Prine of Fort Meade; one brother, Dock Boutwell of Troy, Ala.; seven grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation: Wednesday, Oct. 6, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home in Bartow.
The funeral: Thursday, Oct. 7, at 11 a.m., at the funeral home.
Interment: Wildwood Cemetery in Bartow.

Marshall Collier Prine
Marshall Collier Prine, 53, of Williston, Fla., formerly of Polk County, died Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2004, at the E.T. York Hospice Care Center in Gainesville.
Born in Lakeland, Mr. Prine moved to Williston from Fort Meade more than 20 years ago.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Fort Meade, and he enjoyed photography, hunting, and fishing.
Survivors include his wife, Teresa Prine; his mother, Jacquelyn Prine of Ocala; three stepsons, Van Whitehurst of Archer, Fla., Devin Whitehurst and Adam Whitehurst, both of Williston; one brother, Steve Prine of Washington, D.C.; and two grandchildren.

Joyce Elaine Edgerton
Joyce Elaine Edgerton, 55, of Winter Haven, died of heart failure Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2004, at Winter Haven Hospital.
Born June 25, 1949, in Pontiac, Mich., Ms. Edgerton moved to Winter Haven 30 years ago.
She was a homemaker, and of the Nazarene faith.
Survivors include three sons, Robert J. Edgerton of Dundee, Jason A. Edgerton and Steven M. Edgerton, both of Winter Haven; two daughters, Shelly Edgerton and Heather Edgerton, both of Winter Haven; two sisters, Sally King of Bartow and Rose Boatwright of Lakeland; and her step-mother, Daisy Foster of Lakeland.
