Evelyn Walker Shipley
Evelyn Walker Shipley, 79, of Bartow, died Monday, April 12, 2004, at Lakeland Regional Medical Center.
Born Oct. 9, 1924, in Tifton, Ga., Ms. Shipley was a longtime Bartow resident.
She was a homemaker. She was Protestant.
Ms. Shipley was preceded in death by three sons, Johnny LeDano, Ted Williams, and David Williams.
Survivors include one son, Billy Ray LeDano of Lake Charles, La.; three daughters, Betty Gonzalez of Bartow, Erlene Beaird of Montgomery, Ala., and Carla Midkiff of Braselton, Ga.; one sister, Louise Guardalibene of Lockport, N.Y.; 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Visitation: Friday, April 16, from 3 to 4 p.m., at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home in Bartow.
The funeral will follow at the funeral home at 4 p.m., with Rev. Patricia Lopez officiating.
Interment: Wildwood Cemetery, Bartow.
Geneva Valeria Standifer
Geneva Valeria Standifer, 47, of Bartow, died Friday, April 9, 2004, at Lakeland Regional Medical Center.
Ms. Standifer was born Jan. 31, 1957, in Smithville, Miss.
She was a supervisor at Ametek U.S. Gauge Co., in Bartow. She attended Greater Providence Progressive Missionary Baptist Church.
Ms. Standifer is survived by four sons, Carlo Gant and Jeromy Gant Ingram, both of Lakeland, and Michael Gant, Sr., and Jerome Gant Ingram, both of Bartow; one daughter, LaTanya Gant of Bartow; her parents, Fred and Ola Standifer of Bartow; one sister, Yolanda Smith of Bartow; five brothers, Calvin Joe Standifer and Eric Standifer, both of Bartow, James Standifer of Hollywood, Fla., and Fred Standifer, Jr., and David Standifer, both of Winter Haven; and seven grandchildren.
Visitation: Friday, April 16, from 3 to 8 p.m., at Gause Funeral Home in Bartow.
The funeral: Saturday, April 17, at 11 a.m., at Providence Progressive Missionary Baptist Church.
Interment: Wildwood Cemetery in Bartow.
Gwendolyn M. Jones
Gwendolyn Marie Jones, 51, of Bartow, died Friday, April 9, 2004, at Winter Haven Hospital.
Ms. Jones was born in Bartow on Oct. 24, 1952.
She was a Polk County school teacher, and was a member of the Praise and Worship Center of Bartow.
Ms. Jones is survived by her parents, Eugene and Mittie Lee (Major) Jones of Miami; one daughter, Cleopatra (Denise) Jones of Bartow; and one brother, Jerome Jones of Miami.
Visitation: Thursday, April 15, from 3 to 8 p.m., at Gause Funeral Home in Bartow.
The funeral: Friday, April. 16, at 11 a.m., at Wildwood Cemetery.
Bonnie Harrigan
Bonnie L. Harrigan, 73, of Bartow, died Monday, April 12, 2004, at Lakeland Regional Medical Center.
Born Oct. 25, 1930 in Plant City, she moved to Bartow 24 years ago.
She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, George W. Harrigan of Bartow; five sons, Timothy M. Harrigan of Palm Harbor, James A. Harrigan of Valrico, Terrence P. Harrigan of Eglin Air Force Base, Robert F. Harrigan of Lakeland, and Richard L. Harrigan of Winter Haven; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation: April 15, 10 to 11 a.m., Whidden-McLean Funeral Home, 650 East Main Street, Bartow.

Robert Jenkins
Robert H. Jenkins, 80, of Winter Haven, died at home on Tuesday, April 6, 2004.
Born Jan. 28, 1924 in Apalachicola, he moved to Winter Haven 55 years ago from St. Petersburg.
He was a sign installer for Polk County and a veteran.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Grace Jenkins.
Survivors include a brother, Stafford Jenkins of Macon, Ga.; and one sister, Jeanette Pooser of Orlando.
Lillie Mae Pelham
Lillie Mae Pelham, 80, of Bartow, died Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2004, at Life Care Center in Winter Haven.
Born Sept. 10, 1923, Mrs. Pelham was a lifelong resident of Bartow.
She was a homemaker and a member of Main Street Baptist Church in Bartow. She loved Elvis and was known by many as the "Elvis lady," said family members. Her "pride and joy" was an Elvis watch which she always wore. She loved to play the harmonica and entertained residents at the Hawthorne Inn and Life Care, both in Winter Haven.
Mrs. Pelham was preceded in death by her husband, Fred C. Pelham. Survivors include: one daughter, Gloria Moore of Winter Haven; one grandson, Fred Moore of Charlotte, N.C.; and two granddaughters, Pamela Paone of Philadelphia and Karen Curchy of High Springs.
Visitation: Saturday, Jan. 3, from 10 to 11 a.m., at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home in Bartow.
The funeral will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with Rev. Jason Curchy officiating.

Delores Thornton
Delores Thornton, 71, of Lakeland, died Sunday, Dec. 28, 2003, at her home.
Born April 6, 1932, in Miami, Mrs. Thornton moved to Lakeland from Vero Beach in 1957.
She was a homemaker. She was a past president of the Lakeland Junior Women's Club, and president of the E.C.W. She was a member of St. David's Episcopal Church in Lakeland, a member of the Altar Guild, director of the Juvenile Home, was voted outstanding woman of the year, was a licensed Eucharistic minister, member of the prison ministry at St. David's Episcopal Church, and a member of the Daughters of the King.
Mrs. Thornton is survived by: her husband, "Dub" Thornton; two sons, Dub Thornton, III, of Lakeland, and David Thornton of Auburndale; one daughter, Diane Wright of Lakeland; one sister, Jenny Reed of Orlando; one brother, Dr. Tom Wells of Daytona Beach; and six grandchildren.
The funeral: Saturday, Jan. 3, at 11 a.m., at St. David Episcopal Church on Edgewood Drive.
