James William Chandler, Sr.
James William "Bill" Chandler, Sr., 85, of Gate City, Va., died Sunday, Nov. 30, 2003, at Wexford House in Kingsport.
A native of West Virginia, Mr. Chandler had resided in Bristol, Tenn., for several years, and had lived in Gate City for the past 16 years. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, and was retired from Ball Brothers Furniture Co.
He was a member of the Gate City United Methodist Church.
Mr. Chandler was preceded in death by his first wife, Madge Branson Chandler; his parents, Ernest and Gladys Chandler, and a sister, Vivian Stanton.
Survivors include his wife, Annis Daugherty Chandler; a daughter, Janice Murphy of Bartow; a son, Jim Chandler, Jr., of Bristol, Va.; a stepdaughter, Cathy Turner of Gate City; a sister, Betty Teague of Jacksonville; six grandchildren, Jamie Murphy and Jeff Murphy of Bartow, Matt Chandler, Chris Phipps, David Baker, Leigh Beth Phipps and Rachel Baker; and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral: Wednesday, Dec. 3, at 6 p.m., at Colonial Funeral Home chapel, with Pastor Dale Wyrick officiating. Music by Gate City United Methodist Church choir and Carolyn McPherson. Visitation after service.
Graveside service: Thursday, Dec. 4, 11 a.m., Glenwood Cemetery, Bristol, Tenn.

Julia P. Pridgen
Julia P. Pridgen, 88, of Alturas, died Monday, Dec. 22, 2003, at Lake Wales Medical Center.
Born Dec. 13, 1915, in Hacoda, Ala., Mrs. Pridgen moved to Polk County 66 years ago.
She worked as a citrus processor for Cypress Gardens Citrus, Inc., in Winter Haven, for 20 years, and was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. She was Protestant.
Mrs. Pridgen was preceded in death by her husband, Wilburn Pridgen. She is survived by: two nieces, Gladys P. Young of Alturas and Lacie Lee Bisner of Lakeland, and one nephew, Hilliard M. Paul of Palmetto.
Visitation: Saturday, Dec. 27, from 2 to 3 p.m., at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home in Bartow.

Florence Jenett Chapman
Florence Jenett Chapman, 66, of Bartow, died Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2004, in Bartow Memorial Hospital.
A native of Redhouse, Va., she was born March 11, 1937. She was a member of Jersualem Missionary Baptist Church in Mulberry. Mrs. Chapman was a cook.
Survivors include five sons, James Chapman, Jr., Robert Moseley, and Wesley Chapman, all of Bartow, Eugene Moseley of Fort Lauderdale, and Walter Moseley of Liverpool, N.Y.; two daughters, Cynthia McNeil and Connie Bender, both of Bartow, and seven grandchildren.
Visitation: Saturday, Jan. 31, 3 to 8 p.m., Gause Funeral Home, Bartow.
Funeral: Sunday, Feb. 1, 2 p.m., Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church, Mulberry.

Delsie Murphy Davidson
Delsie Murphy Davidson, 84, of Bartow, died Friday, Jan. 2, 2004, at her residence.
Born Sept. 8, 1919, in Wayne County, W. Va., Mrs. Davidson moved to Bartow from Logan, W. Va., 33 years ago.
She was a retail sales associate. She attended Asbury United Methodist Church in Bartow.
Mrs. Davidson was preceded in death by two husbands, James Murphy and Bill Davidson. She is survived by: one daughter, Pat Calandros of Bartow; one son, Coach James Murphy of Bartow; one sister, Thelma Foye of Bartow; one brother, Bruce Hobbs of Logan, W. Va.; four grandchildren, John Calandros of Bartow, Johnna Eady of Lakeland, Jamie Murphy of Auburndale, and Jeff Murphy of Bartow; and nine great-grandchildren.
Visitation: Monday, Jan. 5, from 1 to 2 p.m., at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home in Bartow.
The funeral will follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home, with Rev. Derek B. Goldstein officiating.
Interment: Wildwood Cemetery, Bartow.

Brice C. Britt
Brice Curtis Britt, 44, of Fort Meade, died Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2004.
Born July 31, 1959, in Cullman, Ala., Mr. Britt moved to Fort Meade from Tampa four years ago.
He worked in construction, and was a U.S. Navy veteran.
Mr. Britt is survived by: his longtime companion, Sherry Bryan of Fort Meade; his parents, Bernie R. and Bernice Helms Britt of Zephyrhills; one brother, Ellis Dwayne Britt of Tampa; three sisters, Pamela Rena Wilton of Tampa, Sonja Denese Brannon of Zephyrhills, and Thresa Yvone Garrett of Biloxi, Miss.; and several nieces and nephews.
Private funeral services will be held at a later date.

Bruce DeHond
Bruce DeHond, 73, of Fort Meade, died Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2004, at Winter Haven Hospital.
Born Sept. 22, 1930, in Rochester, N.Y., Mr. DeHond lived in Plant City for 46 years prior to moving to Fort Meade seven years ago.
He was the owner/operator of DeHond Electronics. A Southern Baptist, Mr. DeHond was a past member of the Joy Club at First Baptist Church of Fort Meade.
He was a veteran of the U.S. National Guard.
Survivors include: his wife, Alice DeHond; one son, David DeHond of Fort Meade; one half-brother, Glenn DeHond of Naples, N.Y.; and one grandchild.
The funeral: Saturday, Jan. 31, at 2 p.m., at First Baptist Church of Fort Meade, 307 East Broadway Ave., with Rev. Ed Kendrick and Rev. Gary Grubbs officiating.

Sarah Elizabeth Cobb
Sarah Elizabeth Cobb, 6, of Lakeland, died Thursday, Jan. 22, 2004, from injuries she sustained in an automobile accident.
Born Jan. 18, 1998, in Brandon, Miss Cobb moved to Lakeland two years ago.
She attended Resurrection Catholic Church, and was a kindergarten student at Southwest Elementary Village.
Survivors include: her parents, Aaron and Kristy Cobb, her brothers, Dustin Wallace and Ty Cobb, and her sister, Amanda Cobb, all of Lakeland; her paternal grandmother, Janice Cobb of Seffner; her paternal great-grandmother, Louise Henderson of Mango; her maternal grandparents, Ronald and Sandi Williamson of Lakeland; and her maternal great-grandparents, Robert and Ethel Williamson of Lakeland.
Visitation: Wednesday, Jan. 28, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., at Lakeland Funeral Home.
