Alden “A” Webber, 83, of Wildwood, died Friday, March 21, 2003, in Leesburg. A native of Daviess County, Ind., he moved to Florida in 1992 from Greencastle, Ind. Mr. Webber was a graduate of Washington High School in Washington, Ind. He retired from IBM. He was a member of the Wildwood United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife, Aleen; brother, Delbert of Indiana; four stepchildren, Richard Brillhart and his wife Billie of Lynn Haven; James Brillhart and his wife Cindy of Hawthorne, Bobbie Jean Fowler and her husband Don of Belleview, Rosemary Van Tassell of Hillard; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Memorial Services for Mr. Webber will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 6, 2003, at the Wildwood United Methodist Church with Rev. Harry Holloman and Rev. Dale Jaquette officiating. Burial will be at Brick Chapel Cemetery, Greencastle, Ind. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Webber, two sons, four brothers and one sister. Lillie M. S. Cook, 80, Greeter
Lillie Margie Skinner Cook, 80, of Marianna, formerly of St. Petersburg, died Wednesday, April 9, 2003, at Jackson Hospital. She was born in and grew up in Webster. Recently she attended the Webster High School reunion. She retired from GTE Telephone and was a door greeter at Wal-Mart for the past 12 years. She was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert K., and her parents, Bill and Ruth Bennett Skinner of Webster, as well as her sister, Lavada Skinner Sparkman Curry, and brothers Clifton Skinner and Harry Skinner of Webster and Willie Skinner of California. Her grandparents, Richard Henry and Mary Lillie Hutton Bennett, and great-grandparents, Charles and Jane Bennett, were pioneers of Sumter County. Survivors include her daughter, Barbara A. Powell and her husband, Bill, of Marianna; three grandchildren, Billy Powell and his wife Karen of Enterprise, Ala., Sherri Godwin and her husband Jeff of Marianna, and Angie Bunting and her husband Phillip of Marianna; five great-grandchildren, Kailey Powell of Enterprise, Ala., Christopher and Brianna Godwin of Marianna and Alexandra and Ashley Bunting of Marianna; and her very good friends Dick and Doris Schoenian of Marianna. The funeral was held Saturday, April 12, at 10 a.m. at Lord Funeral Home in Marianna with the Revs. Roland Gilliland and Roland Rabon officiating.

Dale Duane Milner, 67, of Center Hill, died Wednesday, April 9, 2003, in Center Hill. A native of Mishawaka, Ind., he was a resident of Sumter County for the past three years, formerly of Orlando. Mr. Milner was a supervisor of dorm buildings for UCF. He was an Air Force veteran and Methodist. Survivors include his wife, Janice; son, Mark Milner of Las Vegas, Nev.; daughter, Deborah Miller of Las Vegas, Nev.; brother, Kevin Milner of Vermilion, Ill.; two sisters, Lenora Stephens and Reeba Damon, both of Center Hill; three grandchildren; one stepson, Scott McKensey of Houston, Texas; three step-daughters, Shirley McKinsey of Houston, Texas, Roseanne Woodrum of Angier, N.C., and Amy McKinsey of Cary, N.C.; 10 step-grandchildren and one step-great-grandchild. Walter Louis Gawne, 62, of Lake Panasoffkee, died Wednesday, April 16, 2003, in Lake Panasoffkee. A native of Saginaw, Mich., he was a resident since 1994, formerly of Flint, Mich. Mr. Gawne was a machinist in the automotive industry. He was an Air Force veteran. Survivors include his wife, Rosemary; two sons, Rick Gawne and Charles Gawne, both of Flint, Mich.; two daughters, Kathryn Stewart of Flint, Mich., and Cynthia McClure of South Haven, Mich.; nine grandchildren; brother, Jerry Gawne of Florida; two sisters, Mary Martin of North Carolina and Virginia O'Connas of Michigan. Charles Carl Hinton, 59, of Webster, died Friday, April 18, 2003, in Leesburg. A native of Franklin County, Ohio, he moved to Sumter County in 1978 from Lancaster, Ohio. Mr. Hinton was a truck driver and was Protestant. Survivors include his wife, Patricia; two sons, Randy Hinton of Croom and Michael Hinton of Dade City; three daughters, Jacqueline Walker and Sharen Price, both of Tarrytown, and Karen Causey of Sumterville; four sisters, Charlene Keenan of Lancaster, Ohio, Meribel Stenpfle of Colombus, Ohio, Penny Hinton and Margie Gilkerson; brother, Billy Hinton of Lancaster, Ohio; 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Carl D. McClannahan, 44, Truck driver
Carl "Peejinks" D. McClannahan, 44, of Center Hill, died Tuesday, April 15, 2003, in Center Hill. He was born in Eustis and was a lifetime resident of Sumter County. Mr. McClannahan was an avid mud bogger, hunter, fisherman and four wheeler enthusiast. He was a truck driver in the cement industry. He was Baptist. Survivors include his wife, Faye; brother, Dale McClannahan of Webster; host of uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces and cousins. Services were held April 18 at the Purcell Funeral Home Chapel, Bushnell, with Rev. Ray Brannen and Rev. J.R. Smith officiating. Interment was at Center Hill Cemetery, Center Hill. Theodore R. Palmer, 85, Music teacher
Theodore Ray Palmer, 85, of Wildwood, died Tuesday, April 1, 2003, in Leesburg. A native of Bernardsville, N.J., he came here in 1981 from there. Mr. Palmer was a retired instrumental music teacher. He was an avid lover of music and sports, a former CCC singers/volunteer food kitchen in Wildwood, founded the Palmer Swim School in New Jersey and running it for 40 years. He was active in CCC social life. He was a member of the Wildwood United Methodist Church. Survivors include a son, Ted Palmer of Carmel, Ind.; daughters, Carol Hunter of Tallahassee and Patricia Johnson of Gardnerville, N.J.; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandsons. Memorial services for Mr. Palmer will be held Saturday, May 3, at 11 a.m. at the Wildwood United Methodist Church with Rev. Harry Holloman officiating. Geraldine Stokes, 81, of Bushnell, died Thursday, April 17, 2003, in Bushnell. A native of Lake Panasoffkee, she was a lifelong resident of Sumter County. Mrs. Stokes was a postal carrier and a member of Indian Hill Baptist Church. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Sherri Stokes of Lake Panasoffkee; son, Thomas Gough of Lake Panasoffkee; daughter-in-law, Gem Gough of Lake Panasoffkee; sister, Lucille Petty of Crystal River; 11 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, J.C. Gough. Services were held April 22 at the Purcell Funeral Home Chapel in Bushnell with Pastor R. Jon King officiating. Nancy Verdie Hendrix Walker, 78, of Homerville, Ga., died Friday, April 4, 2003, at South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta following a brief illness. A native of Clinch County, Ga., she moved to Lake Panasoffkee in 1976 and lived in Florida for 24 years before returning to Homerville, Ga. Survivors include eight children: Jeannette Smith of Lake Panasoffkee; Roselyn Norman of Stockton, Ga.; Rita Stalvey of Homerville, Ga.; Kenneth Walker of Pearson, Ga.; Sue Johnson of Valdosta, Ga.; Ann Douglas of Waycross, Ga.; Rhonda Henry of Homerville, Ga.; Ronald Walker of Homerville, Ga.; 22 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren. Harry "Dwayne" Stollar, 63, of Oxford, died Sunday, April 20, 2003, in Summerfield. A native of Waterford, Ohio, he moved here in 1984 from Indiana. Mr. Stollar was a self-employed mason. He was a member of Oxford Assembly of God and an avid horseman. Survivors include his wife, Sandy; sons, Kevin of Wildwood, Keigh of Kenton, Ohio, Kenny of Lake Panasoffkee, Kelly of Lady Lake, Kim of Wildwood; daughter, Sheila Bowman of Oxford; sisters, Ima Gene Oliver of Beverly, Ohio and Norma Lang of Marietta, Ohio; 10 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
