Don Thibodeau died on October 2, at his home in Cedar Key after a long illness. He was 85.
He was born July 25, 1919, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The son of Rose (Harley) and John Thibodeau, he was raised in the small town of Coleman, Wisconsin, graduated from Coleman High School in 1937 and attended the University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee. He enlisted in the Army in 1942 and was accepted for O.C.S . Commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the 14th Armored Division, his outfit fought throughout France and Germany in WWII. He received the Bronze Star and several campaign medals.
Again he served overseas when recalled for active duty during the Korean War. Returning to his hometown, Don became a dairy farmer and electrical contractor. He enjoyed deer hunting in Northern Wisconsin and sailing on the Great Lakes. In 1984, he retired to the Cedar Key area. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Chiefland, the American Legion, the 14th Armored Division Association, and the Cedar Key Historical Society where he was a long-time docent in the historical museum.
Preceded in death by his first wife, Aurelia (Barth), he is survived by his wife, (Patricia) Kate Bassett Thibodeau, 2 daughters, Mary Kay Bloom of Middleton, Wisconsin, and Elizabeth Beg of Bayside, Wisconsin; 2 sisters, Kathleen Taylor of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and Carol Koller of Coleman, Wisconsin; 2 stepdaughters, Lisa Bassett of Tallahassee, and Susan Garcia of Palatka; 4 Stepsons, Jonathan Bassett of Tampa, Jeffrey Bassett of Ft. Lauderdale, Dr. Timothy Bassett of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and Dr. Christopher Bassett of Palm Bay, Florida, 6 grandchildren, 13 step grandchildren and one great-grandson.
Funeral services are under the care of Knauff Funeral Home, Chiefland, and burial will follow in the Live Oak, Florida, Cemetery.

Frances C. Pack
Frances C. Pack, age 94, of Cedar Key Florida passed away on Friday September 17, 2004 in Gainesville.
Mrs. Pack was born in Tampa, Florida but moved to Cedar Key ten years ago. She was a retired accounting bookkeeper. She was preceded in death by her husband Roy Pack in 2003.
She is survived by her daughter: Kathryn Causey of Cedar Key. Florida, a niece, Jackie Bailes of Orlando, Florida and a nephew, Jimmy Hutchinson of Haines City, Florida.
Services were held on Monday September 20, 2004, graveside at the Cedar Key Cemetery. Rufus Meriwether officiated, and arrangements were by the Hiers-Baxley Funeral Home in Chiefland, Florida.
Mathilda Josefsberg
Mathilda Josefsberg of Trenton, Florida passed away on Monday September 6, 2004 at Gainesville, Florida. She was born in Philadelphia, PA and had moved to Trenton six years ago from the Florida Keys.
She is survived by Daughter and son-in-law: Janet & Robert Blackwell of Cedar Key, FL, Son and daughter-in-law: Allan & Francine Josefberg of Miami, FL, Grandchildren: Jack Davis of the Florida Keys, Jennifer Davis of Gainesville, FL and Jacob Blackwell of Cedar Key, FL.

William Airth-Kindree
A long-time winter visitor to Cedar Key, William Airth-Kindree, (known as "Airth") in his 71st year, went home to heaven August 13, 2004 surrounded by family in his home in Kendall, WI. Airth and his family loved to sail the waters of the Cedar Keys in his beloved sailboat, "The Faith of St. Andrew". A graduate of the Univ. of Western Ontario in Canada and the Univ. of Illinois in IL., Airth practiced medicine in a variety of capacities throughout his medical career. He retired as a research professor from the Univ. of Illinois in 1996 and since has travelled and devoted his time to his deepest passions: music and writing. He composed, arranged and played "The Cedar Key Symphony"
Airth was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, and friend. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Mary Anne and their four daughters: Ilana Ludvigsen of Paxton, MA.; Norah Airth-Kindree of Eau Claire, WI.; Martha Airth-Kindree of Kendall, WI.; and Anne Kelsch of Grand Forks, ND. There are eight grandchildren: Elasa, Ariel, Jesse, and Eladra Ludvigsen; Airth, Heather and Rachel Burtman; and Sarah Kelsch.
Graveside services were held on August 14, 2004 at St. Luke's cemetery in Glendale, WI. A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
Ida Belle Davis
Mrs. Ida Belle Davis
Ida Belle Wadley Davis, a lifelong resident of Cedar Key, died Saturday in her home surrounded by her family. She was 83.
Mrs. Davis was born in Cedar Key in 1921 and graduated from Cedar Key High School in 1940. She worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 44 years. She was a member of Christ Episcopal Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, R.B. Davis, a commercial fisherman and long-time Levy County Commissioner and city official.
Survivors include her son, Mike Davis of Cedar Key; two daughters, Frances English of Livonia, MI, and Landa Allen of Cedar Key; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Arrangements are under the care of Hiers-Baxley funeral home in Chiefland.
Funeral services will be held at Christ Episcopal Church in Cedar Key at 2 p.m. on Wednesday June 30th with Father Jack Watson conducting.

Carl V. Beeler
Mr. Carl V. Beeler, of Chamblee, Georgia, died from cancer on March 3, 2004. Mr. Beeler owned a home here in Cedar Key since the 70`s and was a frequent visitor. Surviving are a daughter, Beth Wright, son-in-law, Scott, and granddaughter, Irene, of Middleton, Wisconsin, and neices and nephews. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Cedar Key Arts Center

A Service of Remembrance will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. today at the Knauff Funeral Home in Chiefland.
An Irish Wake will be held on Saturday April 24th at the family home in Cedar Key at 1018 Whiddon Avenue. (as noted in the annoucement posted at City Hall)
Michael "Mike" (Salty) Raftis was born April 12, 1940 and passed away at his home in Cedar Key on April 16, 2004.
Edward Peters
Services for long time Cedar Key resident Edward "Eddie" O. Peters who passed away on March 3, 2004, will be held Saturday March 6 with visitation from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Hiers Chiefland Funeral Home, 1301 N. Young Blvd., Chiefland, Florida. Burial will be Sunday March 7 at the Cedar Key cemetery with graveside services conducted by a chaplain from the Forestry Service.
Mr. Peters is survived by his parents Pearle Belcher of Carrabelle, FL and Howard Peters of Carrabelle, FL. Two sisters, Krissy Peters and Karen Millender both from Carrabelle, FL. Two brothers, Jesse Belcher of Carrabelle, FL and Timmy Edmunds of Cedar Key. Three nieces and one nephew.
Katherine Rucker
Services for Katherine "Kitty" Rucker, who passed away on February 2, 2004 in Altamont Springs, have been scheduled for Friday, February 6th. Graveside services will be conducted at the Cedar Key cemetery officiated by Reverend Barry Andrews.
"Kitty" Rucker Age 16
Mrs. Rucker was born June 12, 1908 in Blackburg Virginia. She moved to Cedar Key in 1973 from Barnesville, Georgia. She was a homemaker, a member of the Cedar Key Woman's Club, and a Charter Member of the Cedar Key Historical Society.
She is survived by her sons, William A. Rucker and his wife Nickie of Winter Springs, Florida, and Michael P. Rucker and his wife Harriet of Peoria, Illinois. She had six grand children and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Henry Cowles Rucker, Jr. who died in 1982, and a son Henry Cowles Rucker III in 2001.
Woodrow Wilson Hathcox Services
Woodrow Wilson Hathcox of Cedar Key died Monday at his home. He was 86.
Mr. Hathcox was born in Cedar Key and was a lifetime resident. He was a retired commercial fisherman.
He was a member of Cedar Key United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mathilde L. Hathcox, and daughters Margaret A. Wilkerson, Sandra K. Hagan and Lorene Parnell.
Survivors include a daughter, Louise Tebo of Cedar Key; sons George Hathcox of Chiefland, Clifford Hathcox, Joe Hathcox, Pat Hathcox and Cliff Parnell, all of Cedar Key; a brother, Willard Hathcox of Cedar Key; 18 grandchildren;18 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside funeral services for Mr. Hathcox will be held at 2 pm, Wednesday, December 31, 2003 at Cedar Key Cemetary with the Rev. Barry Andrews officiating.

Egidio Caruso
Egidio Caruso of Cedar Key passed away January 12, 2004. Mr. Caruso was born April 21, 1927. He had lived in Cedar Key for the past fourteen years, having moved here from Old Tappen, NJ. Mr. Caruso was of the Catholic faith, a member of the Cedar Key Lions Club and the Friends of the Library. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Mr. Caruso is survived by his wife Joeanne, sons Robert Gaumond and James Gaumond of Wellington, FL and Furlong, PA respectively, daughters Eva Gaumond of Wellington, FL, Roberta Russell of Silver Springs, FL and Beatrice Gonzales of Greensboro, NC, a brother Joseph Caruso of Brooklyn, NY, and six grand children.
A service will be held at the Cedar Key Church of Christ at 3:00 PM, Wednesday January 14.
