Frances Swain
KEYSTONE HEIGHTS - Frances A. Swain, 80, of Keystone Heights died Monday, Nov. 27, 2000 at her residence.
Born in Monsanto Village, Ill., Mrs. Swain lived in Jacksonville for 20 years before moving to Keystone Heights in 1994. She was a telephone operator and was of the Baptist faith.
Mrs. Swain is survived by: a son Kenneth V. Horton Jr. of Georgia; a sister Anna Bolhofner of New Baden, Ill. and a step-son John Swain of Forsyth, Ga.
All Faiths Cremation Society in Lady Lake is in charge of arrangements.
Maudrey Wainwright
STARKE - Maudrey B. Wainwright, 71, of Starke died Thursday, Nov. 30, 2000 at Shands at Jacksonville following a sudden illness.
Born in Kingsland, Ga., Mrs. Wainwright moved to Starke 17 years ago from Kingsland. She was a homemaker and member of First United Methodist Church of Starke.
Mrs. Wainwright is survived by: her husband J.R. Wainwright of Starke; two daughters, Audrey Levene Smith of Winder, Ga. and Mona Lisa Abbott of Tallahassee; a son William Frank Price of Montreal, Canada; three brothers, Charles Brazell and Oscar Brazell, both of Kingsland, Ga., and W.L. Brazell of Georgetown, S.C.; three sisters, Leslie Beaver of Atlanta, Doris Dewey of Kingsland and Eunice Price of Georgetown, S.C.; one grandchild and three step-children.
Graveside services for Mrs. Wainwright were Dec. 2, 2000 at Crosby Lake cemetery with the Rev. Jerry Carris conducting the services. Jones Funeral Home of Starke was in charge of arrangements.
Linda Waters
Linda Yvonne Waters, 49, died Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2000.
Mrs. Waters is survived by: her father and step-mother Claude and Delores Morgan of Starke; a son Jason Waters of Macclenny; a daughter, Dee Dee Wood of Macclenny; a brother Gregory Morgan of Starke; two sisters, Carolyn Morgan of St. Augustine and Patricia Lynch of Old Greenwich, Conn.; one grandchild and a loving companion Roy Yarberry of Hilliard.
Graveside services were Nov. 30, 2000 at Arlington Park Cemetery.
Dessie Cowart
LAWTEY - Dessie Dewdrop Nix Cowart, 84, of Lawtey died Friday, Jan. 19, 2001 at BrookeWood Nursing Center in Starke following an extended illness.
Born in Florence, Ala., Mrs. Cowart lived in Bradford County for more than 56 years. She was a homemaker and was of the Protestant faith.
Mrs. Cowart is survived by: a daughter Charlene Martin of Lawtey; four sons, Tony N. Cowart, Abel J. Cowart II, Charles B. Cowart and Ernest S. Cowart, all of Starke; a brother Alvin Nix of Louisiana; 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Charlie C. Cowart and a son Huey C. Cowart.
Memorial services for Mrs. Cowart were held Jan. 31, 2001 at BrookeWood Nursing Center in Starke with the Rev. Ron Penrod conducting the services. Interment will follow in Conner cemetery at a later date under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of Starke.
Miriam Amic
MELROSE - Miriam Elizabeth Amic, 84, of Melrose died Friday, Jan. 26, 2001 at Windsor Manor following an extended illness.
Born in Massillon, Ohio, Mrs. Amic moved to Melrose in 1996 from Louisville, Ky. She was a homemaker and was of the Methodist faith.
Mrs. Amic is survived by: a daughter Mary Ann Perry of Melrose; a brother Burton J. Printz of Massillon; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mrs. Amic will be at a later date in Louisville. Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Park in Louisville. Jones Funeral Home of Starke is in charge of local arrangements.
Craig Brown
KEYSTONE HEIGHTS - Craig A. Brown, 48, of Keystone Heights died Thursday, Jan. 25, 2001 at his residence following an extended illness.
Born in Portland, Ind., Mr. Brown moved to Keystone Heights in 1979 from Jacksonville. He was a self-employed glass glazier and member of Layman's Home Missionary Movement.
Mr. Brown is survived by: his wife Sharon Gibbs Brown of Keystone Heights; a daughter Sarah Brown of Keystone Heights; two sons, Andrew Brown and Thomas Brown, both of Keystone Heights; his mother Naida F. Longley of Keystone Heights; two sisters, Susan Ryan of Keystone Heights and Donna Henderson of Gainesville and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father Donald Brown.
Funeral services for Mr. Brown were Jan. 29, 2001 in the DeWitt C. Jones Chapel in Keystone Heights with Brother Richard Blaine conducting the services. Interment was in Keystone Heights Cemetery.
Deloris Darby
MELROSE - Deloris E. Darby, 41, of Melrose died Monday, Jan. 29, 2001 at her residence following a brief illness.
Born in Jacksonville, Ms. Darby moved to Melrose from Jacksonville 14 years ago. She was a homemaker and member of Ebenezer Baptist Church in Starke.
Ms. Darby is survived by: a son Kenneth Pace of Jacksonville; three daughters, Shaketa Ray of Keystone Heights, Wandarda Ray and Lillian Ray, both of Jacksonville; her mother Lillie Lundy of Keystone Heights; a brother Willie Ford of Keystone Heights; a sister Doretha Carlisle of Jacksonville and two grandchildren.
Funeral services for Ms. Darby will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 3, 2001 at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Starke with the Rev. Warren, pastor, officiating. Interment will be in the Speedville cemetery with Chestnut Funeral Home of Gainesville in charge of arrangements.
Jessie Drawdy
LAKE CITY - Jessie Mae Drawdy, 86, of Lake City died Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2001 at her residence following an extended illness.
Born in Tarver, Ga., Mrs. Drawdy lived in Lake City since 1934. She was a homemaker and member of the Lake City Church of God.
Mrs. Drawdy is survived by: two sons, Jerry Drawdy of Starke and Eugene Drawdy of Lake City; six daughters, Mary Hurst of Darien, Ga., Carolyn Davis, Shirley Hathaway, Lillian Myers, Wanda Williams and Lynn McCollum, all of Lake City; a brother James Clayton of Lake City; three sisters, Louise Weeks, Inez Wallace and Mae Register, all of Lake City; 29 grandchildren and 92 great-and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Lawrence Drawdy.
Funeral services for Mrs. Drawdy will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 2, 2001 in the North Lake City Church of God with the Rev. Doyle Williams officiating and the Rev. Lonnie Johns and the Rev. J. Mark Johns assisting. Interment will follow in Memorial Cemetery. Guerry Funeral Home of Lake City is in charge of arrangements.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, Feb. 1, 2001 from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Irene Faulkner
STARKE - Emily Irene Lewis Faulkner, 79, of Starke died Sunday, Jan. 28, 2001 at Shands at Starke following an extended illness.
A lifetime resident of Starke, Mrs. Faulkner was a member of First Baptist Church in Starke and was a realtor with Faulkner Realty. She was a member of the realtor's association and the Starke Woman's Club.
Mrs. Faulkner is survived by: her husband Paul H. Faulkner Sr. of Starke; a daughter Susan Faulkner O'Neal of Starke; a son Paul H. Faulkner Jr. of Starke; a sister Vera Lee Thomas of Starke; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mrs. Faulkner were Jan. 31, 2001 at First Baptist Church in Starke with the Rev. Ben Bryant conducting the services. Interment was in Crosby Lake cemetery in Starke under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of Starke.
Carl Foster
NEW RIVER - Carl W. Foster, 56, of New River died Friday, Jan. 26, 2001 at Shands at Starke following a sudden illness.
A lifetime resident of New River, Mr. Foster worked for CSX Railroad Department.
Mr. Foster is survived by: a companion Janice Weathers; six sons, Carl L. Foster and Steve Foster, both of Lake Butler, William Foster of Orange Park, John Foster of Starke, Raymond Weathers of Reddick and Carl A. Foster of New River; six daughters, Verlene Weathers, Lucille Griffin, Elizabeth Foster, Freda Foster, all of Starke, and Ashley Foster of New River and Precious Foster of Lake Butler; two brothers, Lawson Foster of Palatka and Gene Foster of Lake City; three sisters, Mattie Davis and Willie Mae of Wiersdale and Marilyn of Gainesville;
Funeral services for Mr. Foster will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 3, 2001 in the Bradford High School auditorium in Starke. Interment will be in Pine Grove cemetery in Gainesville under the direction of Haile Funeral Home of Starke.
Visitation at the funeral home Friday, Feb. 2, 2001, family 2-3 p.m.; friends 4-8 p.m.
Richard Foster
KEYSTONE HEIGHTS - Richard C. "Spongy" Foster, 49, of Keystone Heights died Monday, Jan. 29, 2001 at his residence following a brief illness.
Born in Jacksonville, Mr. Foster moved to Keystone Heights in 1967 from Jacksonville. He was a retired maintenance worker in the mobile home industry and served in the U.S. Navy during the Viet Nam War. He was of the Baptist faith.
Mr. Foster is survived by: his mother Mary G. Foster of Keystone Heights; his father Claude Foster of Waldo; a brother Dale G. Foster of Jacksonville and a sister Barbara Cox of Lake Geneva.
Funeral services for Mr. Foster will be held at a later date. Interment will be in Gadara cemetery in McRae under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of Keystone Heights.
