Donald Starling
HAWTHORNE - Donald Starling, 75, of Hawthorne died Friday, Nov. 10, 2000 at Alachua General Hospital following a brief illness.
Born in Alachua, Mr. Starling lived most of his life in Alachua before moving to Hawthorne several years ago. He was a handy man and member of Eden Baptist Church in Hawthorne.
Graveside funeral services were Monday, Nov. 13, 2000 at New Hope cemetery in Alachua County with the Rev. Jim Blevins officiating. Burial followed under the direction of Archer Funeral Home of Lake Butler.
Effie Wilkinson
LAWTEY - Effie Mae Harris Wilkinson, 88, of Lawtey died Sunday, Nov. 12, 2000 at her residence following an extended illness.
A lifelong resident of Union County, Mrs. Wilkinson was employed in food service at the Northeast Florida State Hospital in Macclenny until her retirement. She was a member of the New River New Congregational Methodist Church of Raiford.
Mrs. Wilkinson is survived by: two sons, J.L. Wilkinson and Douglas Wilkinson, both of Lawtey; five daughters, Audrey Cawthan of Holt, Lula Mae Crawford of Lawtey, Marjorie Dobbs of Raiford, JoAnn Wilkinson of Winston, Ga. and Gloria Dean Hickman of Perkinston, Miss.; a brother Melvin Harris of Raiford; 17 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband the Rev. Maxie Wilkinson and a son Kenneth Wilkinson.
Funeral services for Mrs. Wilkinson were Nov. 15, 2000 in the New River New Congregational Methodist Church with the Rev. Kevin Griffis and the Rev. Darrell Wilkinson officiating. Burial followed in Pine Grove cemetery at Raiford, under the direction of Archer Funeral Home of Lake Butler.
Beverly Beynon
KEYSTONE HEIGHTS - Beverly J. Beynon, 63, of Keystone Heights died Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2000 at Orange Park Medical Center following an extended illness.
Born in Johnstown, Pa., Mrs. Beynon moved to Keystone Heights in 1997 from Hollywood. She was a former secretary of the Broward County School Board, member of the Women of the Moose, Chapter #1053, in Hollywood and member of Hope Baptist Church.
Mrs. Beynon is survived by: her husband Harry L. "Pete" Beynon of Keystone Heights; two daughters, Cindy Ammerman of Hollywood and Jackie Collinsworth of Smithfield, N.C.; a son Mike Beynon of St. Petersburg; two brothers, Don Alt and Dick Alt, both of Tampa and eight grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mrs. Beynon were Dec. 2, 2000 in the DeWitt C. Jones Chapel in Keystone Heights with Dr. E.V. Coons conducting the services. Interment was in Keystone Heights Cemetery.
Gladys Chesser
STARKE - Gladys Mary Rahme Chesser, 80, of Starke died Monday, Dec. 4, 2000 at Shands at Starke following an extended illness.
Born in Hampton, Mrs. Chesser was a lifetime resident of Bradford County. She was a homemaker and member of Madison Street Baptist Church.
Mrs. Chesser is survived by: three daughters, Janice Lawson of Starke, Glenda Faircloth of Climax, Ga. and Patti Carney of Dunnellon; two sons, Jerry Chesser of Ft. McCoy and Johnny Chesser of Climax; two sisters, Hazel Starr of Waldo and Edna Dyal of Jacksonville; 14 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mrs. Chesser will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 7, 2000 at Madison Street Baptist Church in Starke with the Rev. Jeff Crook conducting the services. Interment will be in Crosby Lake cemetery under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of Starke.
Viewing will be held from 6-9 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2000 at the funeral home.
Julia Crews
MELROSE - Julia Lucille Crews, 68, of Melrose died Thursday, Nov. 30, 2000 at Windsor Manor in Starke following an extended illness.
Born in St. Petersburg, Mrs. Crews moved to Melrose from Jacksonville in 1995. She was a counter clerk for a laundry and dry cleaning service and member of Eliam Baptist Church in Melrose.
Mrs. Crews is survived by: five daughters, Rose Opdyke of Sharon Springs, N.Y., Patricia Harvey of Glen Gardner, N.J., Jeanne Silliman of Milford, N.J., Lisa Hendershot of Jacksonville and Donna Huff of Melrose and four sisters, Mary Morris of Jacksonville, Dorothy Richards of Keystone Heights, Virginia Griffin of Bryceville and Nan Gullitte of Buckeye Lake, Ohio.
Memorial services for Mrs. Crews will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 9, 2000 in the First Baptist Church of Keystone Heights with the Rev. Robert Carter and the Rev. Jim Prose conducting the services. Interment will be in Macedonia cemetery in Macclenny under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of Keystone Heights.
Memorial contributions may be made to North Central Florida Hospice or the Gideons Bible Fund.
Ruth Dickerson
STARKE - Ruth Joan Dickerson, 66, of Starke died Friday, Dec. 1, 2000 at Shands at Alachua General Hospital following a sudden illness.
Born in Camden, N.J., Mrs. Dickerson moved to Starke 17 years ago from Haddon Heights, N.J. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, North Florida Amateur Radio Society. She was a homemaker and co-owner with her husband of radio station WEAG in Starke.
Mrs. Dickerson is survived by: her husband Ben Dickerson, a sister Betty Jackson of Pennsauken, N.J. and her mother Ruth D. Gladney of Blackwood, N.J. She was preceded in death by her father David L. Gladney and a brother David C. Gladney.
Funeral services for Mrs. Dickerson were Dec. 5, 2000 in St. Patrick Catholic Church with Father Roland Julien conducting the services. Interment was in Crosby Lake cemetery under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of Starke.
Henry Fowler
JACKSONVILLE - Henry Lawrence Fowler, 80, died Thursday, Nov. 30, 2000.
Born in Lake Butler, Mr. Fowler lived there for many years. He was a member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served during World War II. He was owner of Henry L. Fowler Accounting for 30 years.
Mr. Fowler is survived by: his wife of 51 years Betty Fowler; four sons, Glen A. Fowler, John Henry Fowler, Robert Allen Fowler and David Leslie Fowler; a brother Seeber Fowler; and three grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mr. Fowler were Dec. 4, 2000 at George H. Hewell and Son Northside Funeral Home with the Rev. Roger B. Moore officiating. Interment was in Riverside Memorial Park.
John Gemma
KEYSTONE HEIGHTS - John Mario Gemma Sr., 51, of Keystone Heights died Saturday, Dec. 2, 2000 at Hospice House in Gainesville.
Born in Salem, Mass., Mr. Gemma lived in Gainesville for over 20 years before moving to Keystone Heights three years ago. He was retired from the U .S. Postal Service and served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam. He coached many Little League teams.
Mr. Gemma is survived by: his son John Mario "Jay Jay" Gemma Jr. and many close friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Sherry Ann Gemma.
The family will receive friends at Jones Funeral Home in Keystone Heights from 3-4:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 9, 2000.

Leslie Moore
LAKE GENEVA - Leslie E. Moore, 80, of Lake Geneva died Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2000 at Shands at Alachua General Hospital in Gainesville following a brief illness.
Born in Geneva, N.Y., Mr. Moore moved to Lake Geneva in 1983 from Sanford. He was a retired welder for Pan American World Airways and attended Community Church. He was a member of the VFW, the Teamster's Union and was a veteran of World War II and participated in the Normandy Invasion and the Battle of the Bulge.
Mr. Moore is survived by: his wife Monica M. Moore of Lake Geneva; two sons, Leslie C. Moore of Keystone Heights and Terry A. Moore of Jacksonville and three grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mr. Moore will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 8, 2000 at the DeWitt C. Jones Chapel in Keystone Heights with the Rev. Buddy C. Friedlin conducting the services. Interment will be at a later date.
Martha Piggot
STARKE - Martha McKenney Piggot, 59, of Starke died Saturday, Dec. 2, 2000 in Jacksonville following an extended illness.
Born in Anson County, N.C., Mrs. Piggot moved to Starke 10 years ago. She was a LPN for the Florida Department of Corrections for 10 years and was of the Baptist faith.
Mrs. Piggot is survived by: her husband of nine years Glen Piggot of Starke; two sons, John McKenney of Fernandina Beach and Joe McKenney of N.C. and a sister Patricia Vance of North Carolina. She was preceded in death by her mother Bernice Vance.

Perry Robertson
WALDO - Perry Stephen Robertson, 69, of Waldo died Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2000 at Shands Alachua General Hospital.
Born in Bedford, Ind., Mr. Robertson had lived in Waldo since 1987. He was employed with Ford Motor Company for 30 years as a job setter before his retirement. He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Waldo.
Mr. Robertson is survived by: his wife Arletta Robertson of Waldo; seven daughters, Sheryl Smith-Woeltje of Cape Girardeau, Mo., Brenda Robertson of Indianapolis, Ind., Stacy Marcum of Lake Worth, Qulinda Schopa of Waldo, Jamie Ciszek of Lombard, Ill., Leota Boylen of Atlanta, Ind. and Colleen Cruywells of Lombard, Ill.; two sons, Scott Robertson and Billy Hayes Jr., both of Greenfield, Ind.; two sisters, Med Johnson of Indianapolis and Patty Redwine of Evansville, Ind.; two brothers, Jim Robertson and Ross Robertson, both of Indianapolis and 23 grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mr. Robertson were Dec. 3, 2000 in the Chapel of Archie Tanner Funeral Home of Starke with the Rev. Jim Dubois officiating. Burial was Dec. 4, 2000 at Florida National cemetery in Bushnell with full military honors.
