Charles Fisher

NOV. 23, 1939 -- MAY 1, 2005

DELAND -- Charles Fisher, 65, of 8th Avenue, a former machinist, died Sunday at Florida Hospital DeLand.

Mr. Fisher was born in Ann Arbor, Mich., and moved to this area in 1988 from Michigan.

Survivors include two sons, Michael, Florida, and Todd, Michigan; and a daughter, Laurie Ring, Michigan. Altman-Long, DeBary, is in charge.

Larry Martin

NOV. 28, 1944 -- MAY 3, 2005

DELTONA -- Larry T. Martin, 60, of Montecito Avenue, a former air traffic controller for 22 years with the Marines, died Tuesday at the Hospice Care Center, Port Orange.

Mr. Martin, a Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War and Desert Storm, was born in Portland, Maine. He moved to this area in 1993 from Phoenix. He enjoyed stock car racing.

Survivors include his fiancee, Thelma Judge; three sons, Sean Martin, Florida, Daniel Morris, Lubbock, Texas, and Adam Perschbacher, Virginia; three daughters, Maria Taylor, DeLand, Corla Smith, Fort Lewis, Wash., and Christine Walker, Lubbock; two brothers, Bruce, Fairbault, Minn., and Steve, New York; a sister, Cecil Walker, Phoenix; and 10 grandchildren. Alavon Direct Cremation, South Daytona, is in charge.

Naomi Parker

FEB. 3, 1925 -- MAY 4, 2005

PORT ORANGE -- Naomi Cromartie Parker, 80, of South Waterbridge Circle, a former legal secretary, died Wednesday at the Hospice Care Center.

Mrs. Parker was born in Haines City, and moved to this area from Orlando. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Orlando and the Moose Lodge, Orlando. She enjoyed gardening.

Survivors include a son, Don Bolton, Port Orange; a brother, Bryan Cromartie, Orlando; a sister, Maxine Wilcox, Slidell, La.; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Alavon Direct Cremation, South Daytona, is in charge.

Jorge Rosado

APRIL 14, 1940 -- MAY 3, 2005

DELTONA -- Jorge Luis Rosado, 65, of East Parkton Drive, a former construction worker, died Tuesday at home.

Mr. Rosado was born in Puerto Rico and moved to this area in 2004 from Connecticut. He was a member of Iglesia de Dios MB El Santuario. He enjoyed fishing and music.

Survivors include three sons, George, Deltona, Richard, Connecticut, and Alex, New York City; three daughters, Madelyn and Evelyn Rosado, both of New York City, and Jennie-Lee Rosado, Connecticut; three brothers, Eli, DeBary, Wilfredo, Connecticut, and Israel, Puerto Rico; five sisters, Maximina Rios, Rosa Agueda, Carmen Hernandez and Ines Santos, all of Deltona, and Neri Rosado, Puerto Rico; and 12 grandchildren. Baldauff, Orange City, is in charge.

Michael Severson

SEPT. 15, 1952 -- MAY 1, 2005

DAYTONA BEACH -- Michael A. Severson, 52, of San Jose Boulevard, a pool installer, died Sunday at home.

Mr. Severson was a native and lifelong resident of Daytona Beach, .

Survivors include his companion, Rosemary Busbee; two brothers, Jessie, Ormond Beach, and Leon, Tennessee; and a sister, Patricia Severson-Rainey, Daytona Beach. Newlife Cremation, Ormond Beach, is in charge.

William Thompson

AUG. 24, 1925 -- MAY 2, 2005

NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- William Ray Thompson, 79, of Roberta Lane, a truck driver for Coronado Paint Co. for 25 years, died Monday at the home of his sister in St. Augustine.

Mr. Thompson, a veteran of World War II having served as a Navy Seabee, was born in Waycross, Ga. He moved to this area in the early 1960s from St. Augustine.

Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Shirley; a son, Kenneth Smith, New Smyrna Beach; a sister, Martha Apeler, St. Augustine; and two grandchildren. Kotrady-Hudgins-Croyle Funeral Home, St. Augustine, is in charge.

Edward Wall

SEPT. 15, 1923 -- MAY 3, 2005

NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- Edward J. Wall, 81, of Roberts Street, a journeyman at Structural Iron Works, died Tuesday at Halifax Medical Center, Daytona Beach.

Born in Newfoundland, Mr. Wall, an Army veteran of World War II, came here in 1988 from Brooklyn, N.Y. He was a member of the American Legion Post 17, the Military Order of the Purple Heart, the Moose Lodge 1835.

Survivors include a brother, Gerald, New Smyrna Beach. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1620 S. Clyde Morris Blvd., Suite 300, Daytona Beach, FL 32119. Baldwin Brothers is in charge.

Bernard Wallerstein

JAN. 16, 1925 -- MAY 2, 2005

PORT ST. LUCIE -- Bernard "Fen" Wallerstein, 80, of Port St. Lucie, an Ormond-by-the-Sea resident from 1981 to 1999, died Monday at Port St. Lucie Medical Center.

A native of Ossining, N.Y., Mr. Wallerstein was an Army veteran of World War II who participated in the Normandy Invasion and the Battle of the Bulge. He graduated from the State University of New York Teacher's College and received his master's degree from New York University. Mr. Wallerstein started his career in education as an elementary school teacher in 1947 and retired as a high school guidance counselor in 1981. A founding member of Congregation B'Nai Torah in Ormond Beach, his other local memberships include Eagles Aerie 3800, Moose Lodge 2363, Elks Lodge 2193, American Legion Post 267 and Veterans of Foreign Wars 2736.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Joan; three daughters, Debra, Susan and Ellen; and two grandchildren. Cox-Gifford-Seawinds Funeral Home & Crematory, Vero Beach, is in charge.

Etta Booth
AUG. 30, 1926 -- MAY 1, 2005

NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- Etta Jo Booth, 78, of Old Mission Road, who moved here from Cincinnati in 1990, died Sunday at Bert Fish Medical Center.

Mrs. Booth, a homemaker, was born in Paducah, Ky.

Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Robert; four daughters, Jeanette Bray, Daytona Beach, Joann Tobin, Port Orange, Kerry Seitel, West Chester, Ohio, and Scherry Matthews, Loveland, Ohio; a brother, Ronald Myers, Mason, Ohio; a sister, Norma Jean Thomasson, Paducah; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Carey Hand Cox Parker Funeral Home, Winter Park, is in charge.

Jose Caballero

SEPT. 18, 1957 -- APRIL 30, 2005

SEVILLE -- Jose Caballero, 47, of Amelia Avenue, a native of Mexico, died Saturday at Florida Hospital DeLand.

Mr. Caballero moved to this area in 1999 from Mexico. He was a member of San Jose Mission, Pierson.

Survivors include his wife, Ana Maria; a son, Angel, and four daughters, Laura, Claudia, Ana Maria and Rosario, all of Seville; his mother, Conception Cruz Caballero; a brother, Sergio, Dallas; and two grandchildren. Carpenter Curry Funeral Home, DeLand, is in charge.

Thomas Cancelli

MARCH 8, 1917 -- APRIL 29, 2005

DELAND -- Thomas A. Cancelli, 88, of West Lake Drive, a former textile printer for a textile company, died Friday at home.

Mr. Cancelli, an Army veteran of World War II, was born in Paterson, N.J. He moved to this area in 1997 from Hawthorn, N.J. He was a member of the Disabled Veterans of America, Daytona Beach.

Survivors include a sister, Elvira D'Emilio, DeLand. Allen-Summerhill, DeLand, is in charge.

Terrence Cassidy

JAN. 29, 1942 -- APRIL 30, 2005

EDGEWATER -- Terrence P. Cassidy, 63, of Portside Lane, who retired after 36 years as a banker with Green Point Bank, Brooklyn, N.Y., died Saturday at Select Specialty Care Hospital, Orlando.

Mr. Cassidy, a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War, who also retired from the Naval Reserve after 23 years of service, was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. He moved to this area in 1998 from North Babylon, N.Y. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, New Smyrna Beach, and attended St. Gerard's Catholic Church, where he served as a Eucharistic Minister. He was also a mentor at Indian River Elementary School.

Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Lorraine; three sons, Terrence Jr., Fort Lauderdale, and Sean and Shannon, both of Raleigh, N.C.; a daughter, Regina Cassidy-Maloney, Raleigh; a brother, Brendan, St. Petersburg; three sisters, Mona Cobb, St. Petersburg, and Evelyn and Muriel Cassidy, both of Melbourne; and seven grandchildren. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 555 W. Darlene Chiocca

OCT. 13, 1942 -- MAY 1, 2005

ORMOND BEACH -- Darlene Chiocca, 62, of Fernery Trail, a probation counselor in Volusia County, died Sunday at Daytona Beach Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Ms. Chiocca moved here in 1976 from her native Chicago. She enjoyed cooking and crocheting.

Survivors include three sons, Bob, Daytona Beach, Frank, Chicago, and Joe, Lockport, Ill.; her father, Anthony, Fort Lauderdale; two brothers, Basil and Robert, both of Chicago; a sister, Marianna Hamilton, Waldorf, Md.; and two grandchildren. Volusia County Cremation, Daytona Beach, is in charge.

Ruth Clagett

APRIL 20, 1919 -- APRIL 29, 2005

MOUNT DORA -- Ruth Graham Clagett, 86, of Mount Dora, a former resident of New Smyrna Beach, died Friday at Waterman Village Retirement Community, Mount Dora.

Mrs. Clagett, a homemaker, was born in Wilkinsburg, Pa. She received a bachelor's degree in drama in 1941 from Carnegie Institute of Technology, Pittsburgh. She was a former member of Sugar Mill Country Club and the St. Andrews Association.

Survivors include a son, John Graham, South Orange, N.J.; three daughters, Judith Lacianovic, Springfield, Va., Kathleen Williams, Atlanta, and Margaret Logan, Scottsdale, Ariz.; five grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Baldwin Brothers Memorial, New Smyrna Beach, is in charge.
