MARCH 7, 1925 -- OCT. 7, 2004

PALM COAST -- Albert LoGatto, 79, of Bressler Lane, a fleet service employee for American Airlines in New York City before his retirement, died Thursday at home.

Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., Mr. LoGatto, an Army Air Forces veteran of World War II, moved here in 1983 from Long Island, N.Y. He was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church and Italian American Club, and he was a life-time member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8696.

Survivors include his wife of 13 years, Maria; three sons, Albert, Palm Coast, Elias, Bethpage, N.Y., and Edward, Helmetta, N.J.; a daughter, Valerie Miscioscia, Bethpage; two stepsons, Joseph Abate, North Caldwell, N.J., and George Abate, Wayne, N.J.; a sister, Susie Faraci, Long Island; 15 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Memorial donations may be made to the American Lung Association of Florida, Central Area, 412 South Palmetto Ave., Daytona Beach, FL 32114. Craig-Flagler Palms, Flagler Beach, is in charge.

Ethel Rosenberger

NOV. 12, 1923 -- OCT. 8, 2004

DAYTONA BEACH -- Ethel Caroline "Carol" Rosenberger, 80, of Fairview Avenue, a native of Chicago, died Friday at Florida Hospital-Ormond Memorial, Ormond Beach.

Mrs. Rosenberger moved here in 1954 from her birthplace. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi. Mrs. Rosenberger was an avid seamstress.

Survivors include three daughters, Laura Bundy, Ormond Beach, Sue Zerbe, Key Largo, and Nancy Whittington, Summerfield; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Memorial donations may be made to Florida Hospital Memorial HospiceCare, 770 W. Granada Blvd., Suite 319, Ormond Beach, FL 32174. National Cremation, Melbourne, is in charge.

William Smith

FEB. 14, 1940 -- OCT. 6, 2004

ORANGE CITY -- William H. Smith, 64, of Eighth Street, a resident since 1995, died Wednesday at home.

Mr. Smith, a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War, earning the Vietnam Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and National Defense Service Medal, moved here from his native Schenectady, N.Y. He was a member of the Elks and a life-time member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1590. Mr. Smith enjoyed playing golf.

Survivors include two sons, James, Troy, N.Y., and Richard, Scotia, N.Y.; three daughters, Betty Hotaling, Orange City, Karen Gannon, Schenectady, and JoAnn Smith, Troy; a sister, Karen Zinolkia, Scotia; and seven grandchildren. Frank Thompson

APRIL 2, 1929 -- OCT. 8, 2004

DELAND -- Frank A. Thompson, 75, of Chris Avenue, a former Volusia County material coordinator, died Friday at Florida Hospital DeLand.

Mr. Thompson, who retired as a chief petty officer after 22 years in the Navy, was born in Framingham, Mass. He moved to this area in 1982 from Brunswick, Ga. He was also an employee of the Brunswick Pulp Mill. Mr. Thompson was a member of DeLand Elks Club No. 1463, Fleet Reserve Association and the Moose Club of Ormond Beach.

Survivors include his wife of four years, Elizabeth; four daughters, Catherine Montgomery, DeLand, Nan Schmalz, Yuba City, Calif., Bonnie Burt, Tucson, Ariz., and Marlene Scofield, Manchester, N.H.; three brothers, Jack Hogan, Melbourne, Paul Hogan, North Falmouth, Mass., and David Thompson, Colorado; a sister, Mary McClollough, Herndon, Va.; and four grandchildren. Janet Vega

FEB. 12, 1941 -- OCT. 8, 2004

PALM COAST -- Janet Vega, 63, of Wheel Place, a native of Portland, Maine, died Friday at Florida Hospital-Flagler.

Mrs. Vega, a homemaker, moved here in 2003 from Washington. She enjoyed gardening.

Survivors include a son, John, Oak Harbor, Wash.; a brother, Harold Roos, Palm Coast; and a grandchild. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 555 W. Granada Blvd., Suite A-1, Ormond Beach, FL 32174. Craig-Flagler Palms, Flagler Beach, is in charge.

Lawrence Dinan

FEB. 16, 1930 -- OCT. 24, 2004

ORANGE CITY -- Lawrence J. Dinan, 74, of Enterprise Road, a printer for Peat, Marwick, Mitchell & Co., for 32 years in New York City, died Sunday at Florida Hospital Fish Memorial.

Mr. Dinan was born in Queens, N.Y., and moved here in 1988 from Staten Island, N.Y. He formerly lived in Volusia County from 1975 to 1983. He also retired as a greeter and security for Target in Orange City. He was a member of St. Christopher's Men's Club and was a bingo captain. He aided in founding Staten Island Little League where he was a manager, league commissioner and was a coach and umpire for 15 years. He was a member of Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church, Deltona. An avid sports fan, Mr. Dinan also enjoyed crossword puzzles.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Theresa; three sons, Jeffrey and William, both of Deltona, and Lawrence Jr., Boca Raton; a daughter, Eileen Crovo, Deltona; a brother, Edward, Queens; a sister, Muriel Sentmeir, New Jersey; and five grandchildren. Memorial donations may be made to Make A Wish Foundation of Northern and Central Florida, 1053 N. Orlando Ave., Suite 1, Maitland, FL 32751. Baldauff is in charge.

Terence Fitzgibbons

MARCH 6, 1944 -- OCT. 24, 2004

WINTER GARDEN -- Terence James "Terry" Fitzgibbons, 60, whose family resides in Deltona and Port Orange, died Sunday at Southlake Hospital, Cleremont. Mr. Fitzgibbons was born in Amsterdam, N.Y., and moved to this area in 1973 from Fort Lauderdale. He was a member of the U.S. Coast Guard and is a 1965 graduate of Belmont Abbey College, Belmont, N.C. He was an avid fisherman and boater.

Survivors include his wife, Mary; a son Patrick, Deltona; three daughters, Amy Fitzgibbons, Port Orange, Teri Hamlin, Oakland; and Rebecca Wolf, Atlanta, Ga.; his parents, Frances and Claire Fitzgibbons, Port Orange; two brothers, Richard, Union, Miss., and Edmund, Louisvile, Ky.; a sister, Patty Fitzgibbons, Washington, D.C.; and five grandchildren. Artenzio Foleno

JULY 15, 1914 -- OCT. 24, 2004

EDGEWATER -- Artenzio Robert "Bob" Foleno, 90, of Cocoa Palm Drive, who retired in 1974 as an engineering inspector for Stone & Webster Engineer Co., Pittsburgh, died Sunday at Halifax Medical Center, Daytona Beach.

Mr. Foleno, an Army Air Forces veteran of World War II, moved to this area in 1980 from Sewickley, Pa., his birthplace. He was a member of the Ablon Lodge No. 657, the Unified Lodge No. 2, the International Order of Odd Fellows and was a 32nd degree Mason.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Ruth; a son, Thomas, Edgewater; two daughters, Mary Lou Foleno, Edgewater, and Carol Antolini, Leetsdale, Pa.; two sisters, Anna Palish and Annette McGee, both of Sewickley; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Maurice Guadagno

NOV. 3, 1919 -- OCT. 8, 2004

DAYTONA BEACH -- Maurice L. Guadagno, 84, of Halifax Avenue, died Oct. 8 at Compassionate Care at St. Francis Hospital, Trenton, N.J.

Mr. Guadagno was born in Trenton, N.J. and moved to this area in 1977 from Ewing Township, N.J. He retired from the State of New Jersey Department of Transportation as a construction engineer. Mr. Guadagno was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, where he served as a usher, and the Knights of Columbus.

Survivors include, a son, Maurice, Yardville, N.J.; a daughter, Lisa Shaw, Daytona Beach; a brother, Jerry, Ewing, N.J., two sisters, Lena Inverso, Hamilton, N.J., and Jean Inverso, Robbinsville, N.J.; and two grandchildren. NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- Marion Kelly, 88, of Saxon Drive, who was born in Philadelphia, died Sunday at home.

Mrs. Kelly, a homemaker, moved to this area in 1979 from her birthplace. She enjoyed golf, bridge, and garden clubs. She resided in Sugar Mill until 2003.

Survivors include two daughters, Janet Clunie, New Smyrna Beach, and Susan Morris, Idaho.; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Alavon Direct Cremation, South Daytona Beach.

Mary Mendenhall

NOV. 3, 1920 -- OCT. 25, 2004

ORANGE CITY -- Mary Winifred Mendenhall, 83, of Florabunda Circle, a retired licensed practical nurse, died Monday at Orange City Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, DeBary.

Mrs. Mendenhall was born in Denver, Colo., and moved to this area 4 years ago from Bartlesville, Okla. She was a Hospice Volunteer and a member of St. James Bible Group, both in Bartlesville.

Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Harold; five daughters, Mary Ellen Ceely, DeLand, Frances Mendenhall, Omaha, Neb., Margaret Blair, Nashville, Tenn., Terry Mendenhall, Seattle, and Lynelle Sparks, Lakewood, Colo.; two sisters, Marjorie Alvey, Valencia, Calif., and Therese Mudd, Lewiston, N.Y.; six grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Janet Morris

AUG. 9, 1943 -- OCT. 23, 2004

EDGEWATER -- Janet Sue Patton Morris, 61, of Camino Real Drive, who retired in 2002 after 19 years of service with the City of Edgewater, died Saturday at the home of her caregivers in Edgewater.

Ms. Morris was born in Paoli, Ind., and moved to this area in 1972 from Indiana.

Survivors include two sons, Robert and Damon, both of West Palm Beach; a daughter, Kimberly Frank, Seymour; two brothers, Armel and Ermal Patton, both of Paoli; three sisters, Bonnie Dickey and Sherry Phillips, both of Paoli, and Vicki Kirkman, Bedford, Ind.; and eight grandchildren. MARCH 31, 1921 -- OCT. 24, 2004

EDGEWATER -- Doris Irene Patete, 83, of Orange Tree Drive, a resident since 1983, died Sunday at The Terrace, Daytona Beach.

Mrs. Patete, a homemaker, was born in Elizabeth, N.J., and came to this area from Atlanta. Survivors include her husband, John; a son, John Jr., Edgewater; a daughter, Constance Clarkson, East Stroudsburg, Pa.; three brothers, Robert Amory, Clark Township, N.J., Herbert Amory, Savannah, Ga., and Harold Amory, Colonia, N.J.; a sister, Caroline Barnes, Elizabeth; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Ralph Perman

MARCH 10, 1926 -- OCT. 23, 2004

DAYTONA BEACH -- Ralph Perman, 78, of Continental Drive, a musician and owner of Daytona Beach Dance Band, died Saturday at home.

Mr. Perman, a Navy veteran of World War II, moved to this area in 1971 from Hubbard, Ohio, his birthplace. He retired from Aluma Shield and was formerly a maintenance employee at A Child's Place.

A love for music, Mr. Perman played, wrote, arranged and taught music. He formerly owned Perman's Music Store. He also played with the Daytona Concert Band and the Moonlighters, bands that mainly played swing music and tunes from the 1920's to 1940's.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Bernice; two sons, Ralph Jr., Holly Hill, and Richard, Daytona Beach; six daughters, Linda Carter, Ormond Beach, Michele Kulakowski, Holly Hill, Carolyn Kinsman and Beth Mauch, Hubbard, Pam Kerney, New London, N.C. and Nancy Stitt, Girard, Ohio; 17 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Volusia Memorial, Ormond Beach, is in charge.
