Eunice Bryan

MAY 21, 1913 -- AUG. 9, 2004

DELAND -- Eunice Bryan, 91, of East Howry Avenue, a retired high school secretary for Montgomery County School System in Maryland, died Monday at The Cloisters.

Mrs. Bryan moved to this area in 2002 from her native Silver Spring, Md. She attended Lake Helen United Methodist Church and its United Methodist Women and Bible Bunch and was a member of Salem United Methodist Church, Laytonsville.

Survivors include a son, Walter Jr., Linden, Va., and a daughter, Janet Arganbright, DeLand. Memorial donations may be made to Salem United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 159, Brookville, MD 20833; or Lake Helen United Methodist Church, 111 W. Delaware Ave., Lake Helen, FL 32744. Lankford, DeLand, is in charge.

Lillian Bump

JULY 25, 1923 -- AUG. 8, 2004

COCOA -- Lillian Bump, 81, of Cocoa, a former New Smyrna Beach resident, died Sunday at home.

Mrs. Bump, a former postmaster for the U.S. Postal Service, was born in Wevertown, N.Y., and moved here in 1985 from Adirondack, N.Y. She moved to Cocoa in 2002 from New Smyrna Beach. She was a member of Coronado Community United Methodist Church and its Dorcas Circle and Communion Committee and served as an usher and member of the board. She was a committee member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, a delegate for the Silver Haired Legislature of Florida, chairperson in the Outpatient Department at Bert Fish Medical Center, president of Ocean View Towers Condo Association and was a founding member of the former Sganga Charter School, all of New Smyrna Beach. She also was president of the Postmaster Membership Association in New York. Mrs. Bump enjoyed baseball, dancing, gardening, home improvements, reading and travel.

Survivors include three daughters, Susan, Elizabeth and Maryann; a brother, Earl; and five sisters, Myrtle, Georgia, Lois, Hilda and Jean. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Health First Inc., 1900 Dairy Road, West Melbourne, FL 32904. Settle-Wilder, New Smyrna Beach, is in charge.

Robert Buschman

AUG. 14, 1923 -- AUG. 9, 2004

ORANGE CITY -- Robert L. Buschman, 80, of King Richards Court, a civil engineer with the City of DeLand before his retirement, died Monday at home.

Mr. Buschman, an Army Air Forces veteran of World War II, was born in Fort Wayne, Ind., and moved here from Tampa in 1988. A 1950 graduate of Purdue University, he was a member of Emmaus Lutheran Church, AARP, Elks Lodge, Auburn, Ind., and the Masonic Lodge, Fort Wayne.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Dorothy; three sons, Jeffrey, Auburn, William, Waldo, and Bruce, Hollywood; a daughter, Beth Huffman, Bedford, Texas; a brother, Ned, Naples; three sisters, Jewel Ray, Port Orange, Doris Dimke, Rockford, Ill., and Janice Straley, Salem, Ind.; eight grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Volusia - Flagler, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, FL 32129; or to Emmaus Lutheran Church, 2500 S. Volusia Ave., Orange City, FL 32763. Warren Dougherty

NOV. 4, 1946 -- AUG. 10, 2004

NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- Warren Dougherty, 57, of Club House Boulevard, the cofounder of Quality Temps Inc., Winter Park, died Tuesday at home.

Mr. Dougherty, a Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War, moved to this area in 1982 from Rochester, N.Y., his birthplace. He was a member of Sugar Mill Country Club where he was an avid golfer.

Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Nancy; two sons, Jeffrey and Timothy, San Diego; four brothers, Dennis, Lawrence, Timothy and Michael, and a sister, Kathleen Dougherty, all of Rochester. Alavon Direct Cremation, South Daytona, is in charge.

Ruth Braden

JULY 1, 1912 -- FEB. 26, 2005

DAYTONA BEACH -- Ruth Marie Braden, 92, of North Atlantic Avenue, who founded WPFB Radio station and owned numerous other radio stations in Middletown, Ohio, died Saturday at Hospice Care Center, Port Orange.

Born in Dayton, Ohio, Mrs. Braden came here in 1952 from Middletown. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Ormond Beach. She enjoyed dancing, Big Band music and travel.

Survivors include a son, Doug, Middletown; and two grandchildren. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Volusia - Flagler, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, FL 32129. Woodward, Holly Hill, is in charge.

Charles Breiner

FEB. 1, 1936 -- FEB. 25, 2005

NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- Charles Frederick "Chase" Breiner, 69, of Eel Avenue, who in 1995 founded Chases Beachfront Bar and Restaurant, died Friday at home.

Mr. Breiner, an Army veteran, was born in Valley Stream, N.Y. He earned his bachelor's degree from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. He retired after 30 years of service with Merrill Lynch where he was resident vice president of the Canaveral Complex.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Nancy "Kay"; two daughters, Anna Caufield, Edgewater, and Mary Walker, Orlando; two brothers, Frederick, Delancy, N.Y., and Gerald, New Smyrna Beach; three sisters, Joan Ferreria, Bluffton, S.C, Janice Jeremias, Chestertown, N.Y., and Marilyn Schaupp, The Villages; and four grandchildren. Paul Brown

JULY 28, 1925 -- FEB. 24, 2005

NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- Paul Jerry Brown, 79, of South Atlantic Avenue, who owned and operated Brown Fox Village and Brown Fox Motel, died Thursday at his care givers home in Holly Hill.

Mr. Brown, a Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean War, was born in Fayetteville, W.Va. He retired as a real estate developer and from antique retail sales. Mr. Brown was a graduate of Marshall University.

Survivors include a brother, Joseph, Starkville, Miss.; and a sistrer, Jane Songer, Tequesta. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1620 S. Clyde Morris Blvd., Suite 300, Daytona Beach, FL 32119. Baldwin Brothers is in charge.

Aubrey Caffee

JAN. 14, 1922 -- FEB. 25, 2005

LONGWOOD -- Aubrey D. Caffee, 83, of Longwood, a former 15-year resident of Oak Hill, died Friday at home.

Born in Virginia Beach, Va., Mr. Caffee worked as an engineer in the aerospace industry.

Survivors include a son, William; a daughter, Marlice Stiver; two brothers, Albert and Garland; a sister, Merel Necressen; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Collison Family Funeral Homes & Crematory-South Seminole Chapel, Longwood, is in charge.

Albert Cionitti

APRIL 15, 1917 -- FEB. 24, 2005

PORT ORANGE -- Albert Cionitti, 87, of Wexford Way, a retired welder, died Thursday at Oaktree Nursing Home, South Daytona.

Mr. Cionitti, a Navy veteran of World War II, was born in Batavia, N.Y., and came here in 1983 from Rochester, N.Y. He was a member of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church and a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He enjoyed golf and fishing.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Helen; and a son, Richard, Rochester. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Volusia - Flagler, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, FL 32129. Volusia Memorial, Port Orange, is in charge.

Donald Clay

SEPT. 9, 1936 -- FEB. 26, 2005

EDGEWATER -- Donald A. Clay, 68, of Royal Palm Drive, who retired after 23 years of service as a forklift operator for General Motors, died Saturday at home.

Mr. Clay was born in Buena Vista, Ohio, and moved here in 1991 from Ypsilanti, Mich. He was an avid bowler and fisherman.

Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Eve; and two sisters, Mildred Stevens and Margaret Pinnich, both of Flat Woods, Ky. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Volusia - Flagler, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, FL 32129. Baldwin Brothers, New Smyrna Beach, is in charge.

Anna Doherty

OCT. 30, 1938 -- FEB. 24, 2005

NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- Anna Hubbard Doherty, 66, of Bouchelle Drive, an attorney and a judge, died Thursday at home.

Mrs. Doherty was born in Lee, Mass., and in 2002 moved here from Duxbury, Mass. She was a graduate of the University of Massachusetts and Suffolk Law School. She also was general counsel with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Mental Health, was an associate justice for Probate and Family Court and was on the counsel of the law office of Kramer, Tansey & Sheehan, Marshfield Hills, Mich. Mrs. Doherty was a member of the board of trustees of Massachusetts Maritime Academy, Buzzard's Bay, Mass. She owned and rode Friesen and Morgan horses in Duxbury.

Survivors include her husband, William; a son, Stephen, Duxbury; two daughters, Julia Frugoli, Clemson, S.C., and Elizabeth Demaine, Epping, N.H.; and a brother, William Hubbard, Sequim, Wash. Patricia Hall-Noble

OCT. 16, 1948 -- FEB. 24, 2005

SOUTH DAYTONA -- Patricia Ann Hall-Noble, 56, of Reed Canal Road, who owned Data Shredders of Daytona, died Thursday at Florida Hospital-Ormond Memorial.

Mrs. Hall-Noble was a native of Wayne, Mich., and moved here in 1985 from Michigan. She was a member of the Elks Lodge and the Eagles Aerie No. 4089.

Survivors include her companion, Ed Brissette, South Daytona; her mother, Edna, Cadillac, Mich.; and three brothers, Gary, Larry and Douglas, all of Michigan. Baldwin Brothers, New Smyrna Beach, is in charge.

Joseph Pearson

NOV. 17, 1936 -- FEB. 25, 2005

DAYTONA BEACH -- Joseph B. "Tom" Pearson, 68, of North Ridgewood Avenue, a native of Cape Town, South Africa, died Friday at Halifax Medical Center.

Mr. Pearson, a church social worker, moved here in 1991 from Fairmont, W.Va. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Mr. Pearson enjoyed singing, chess and creative writing and reading including poetry.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Sylvia; two sons, Mario, Port Orange, and Fabian, Kansas City, Mo.; two daughters, Theresa Pearson, Port Orange, and Anastasia Bowman, Philippi, W.Va.; and three grandchildren. Memorial donations may be made to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 201 University Blvd., Daytona Beach, FL 32118. Woodward, Holly Hill, is in charge.
