FLAGLER BEACH -- Robert Ernst, 87, of Osprey Lane, who retired as a cable assemblies manufacturer in Mineola, N.Y., died July 21 at Kindred Hospital, Green Cove Springs.
Mr. Ernst was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and came here in 1999 from Great River, N.Y. He was an avid sailor and sailboat racer.
Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Dorothy; a stepson, David Kelly, Palm Coast; two stepdaughters, Sandra Mincher, Flagler Beach, and Karen Kelly, Oswego, N.Y.; and two grandchildren. Pons Family Funeral Home, Green Cove Springs, is in charge.

HOLLY HILL -- Elizabeth H. "Betty" Evans, 85, of Ashley Place, a retired secretary for Sherwin Williams Paints, Philadelphia, died Wednesday at Bishop's Glen.
Mrs. Evans was born in Philadelphia and moved to this area in 1992 from Port Richey. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church. She enjoyed crocheting, reading and crossword puzzles.
Survivors include a son, Kenneth Dunkle, Grove City, Pa.; two daughters, Elizabeth "Beth" Bingham, Indianapolis, and Ruth Dunkle, Ann Arbor, Mich.; six grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- Raymond Paul Gagnon Jr., 61, of Turnbull Bay Road, a masonry bricklayer, died Tuesday at the Veterans Administration Medical Center, Gainesville.
Mr. Gagnon, an Army veteran, was born in Leominster, Mass., and moved here in 1983 from West Palm Beach.
Survivors include a son, Mark, Gardner, Mass.; three daughters, Karen Knies, New Smyrna Beach, Christine Gill, Winchester, N.H., and Michelle Vachon, Gardner; a brother, Ronnie, Ashburnham, Mass.; a sister, Janice Cristofono, Fitchburg, Mass.; and nine grandchildren. Jonathan Gleason

DELTONA -- Jonathan William Richard Gleason, 17, of Peak Circle, a Pine Ridge High School graduate, was killed on Aug. 6 at a home on Teleford Lane in a case still under investigation.
Jonathan, who was enrolled in the honors program at Daytona Beach Community College, moved to this area in 1987 from his native Atlanta. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and its youth group and the Boy Scouts of America. He enjoyed skate and wake boarding, acting, dancing, singing, and playing guitar and piano. Jonathan was a PETA activist and volunteer with Habitat for Humanity.
Survivors include his mother, Jacqueline Gleason, Deltona; a brother, Andrew, Deltona; three sisters, Laura Olarte, Deltona, Jennifer Gleason, Fort Myers, and Melinda Poyer, West Palm Beach; his paternal grandmother, Jeanne Gleason, Jacksonville; and maternal grandmothers, Ann Donald, Melbourne, and Isabel Donald, Columbia. Ernest Leifholz

ORMOND-BY-THE-SEA -- Ernest Leifholz, 90, of Seabridge Drive, a native of Delmenhorst, Germany, died Wednesday at Florida Hospital-Ormond Memorial.
Mr. Leifholz, a retired mechanical engineer, moved here in 1999 Woodland Park, Colo. He was a member of Loyal Order of the Moose.
Survivors include a son, Welfred "Bill" Sternberg, Ormond-by-the-Sea; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Woodward, Ormond Beach, is in charge.
Edward Lydecker

EUSTIS -- Edward A. Lydecker, 69, of Eustis, the father of Deltona resident, Laura Ligenzowski, died Wednesday at Oakwood Garden of DeLand, DeLand.
Born in Jersey City, N.J., Mr. Lydecker, moved here in 1975 from Carteret, N.J. He retired as the owner and operator of Lydecker & Sons Trucking Co. in Florida and New Jersey. He was a member of the First Assembly of God, West New York, N.Y. Mr. Lydecker enjoyed sports and coin collecting.
Additional survivors include his wife of 53 years, Phyllis; three sons, Barry and Craig, both of Eustis, and Vance, Miami; two daughters, Sharon Nicols, Clifton, N.J., and Robyn Fleming, Eustis; 20 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Allen-Summerhill, DeLand, is in charge.

DELTONA -- Mary McCallum, 81, of Fort Smith Boulevard, a resident since 1996, died July 15 at Florida Hospital-DeLand.
Mrs. McCallum, a homemaker, was born in Stedman, N.C., and moved to this area from Fayetteville, N.C. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star. She enjoyed playing the piano and organ at various churches in North Carolina.
Survivors include a son, Charles, DeBary; and two grandsons, Lewis McCallum, DeBary, and Mike McCallum, Orlando, and a granddaughter, Patricia Copley, Orlando, all of whom provided for her care; and four great-grandchildren. Altman-Long, DeBary, is in charge.

PORT ORANGE -- Theresa Rose Negro, 72, of Timberwood Drive, a native of Irvington, N.J., died Tuesday at Regency House Skilled Nursing Facility, Daytona Beach.
Mrs. Negro, a retired business manager, came to this area in 1992 from Woodbridge, N.J. She was a member of Epiphany Catholic Church and Veteran of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary. Mrs. Negro enjoyed reading.
Survivors include four sons, Bruce, Port Orange, Rian, Freehold, N.J., Dennis, Colonia, N.J., and James, Keansburg, N.J.; two brothers, Roland Michel, Spring Lake, N.J., and Roger Michel, Bricktown, N.J.; a sister, Jacquelyn O'Leary, Sayreville, N.J.; and six grandchildren. DELAND -- Robert A. Shaw, 59, of Bent Oaks Boulevard, a former sheet metal worker, died Wednesday at home.
Mr. Shaw was born in Elizabeth, N.J., and moved to this area in 1978 from Hopatcong, N.J. He was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church and the Sheet Metal Workers Local No. 15, Tampa. He enjoyed photography and flying airplanes.
Survivors include his wife, Eileen; two sons, William, DeLand, and Robert, Gainesville; four brothers, Walter, Deltona, Kenneth, Orlando, Carl Jr., New Jersey, and Douglas, Leonardo, N.J.; and two sisters, Vicki Galeza, Sanford, and Frances Might, Edison, N.J. Mrs. Bredice, a homemaker, was born in Bridgeport, Conn., and moved to this area from Milford, Conn. She enjoyed the theater, the arts and soap operas.

Mrs. Bryan was born in Laytonsville, Md., and moved to this area in 2002 from Silver Spring, Md. She attended Lake Helen United Methodist Church and its United Methodist Women and Bible Bunch and was a member of Salem United Methodist Church, Brookeville, Md.

Mrs. Capunfuerza, a homemaker, who enjoyed cooking and sewing, moved here in 2003 from Spartanburg, S.C. She was a member of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, Port Orange, and Legion of Mary, the Philippines.

Born in the Bronx, N.Y., Mrs. Castellano, a homemaker, moved to Daytona Beach in 1975 from Bellmore, N.Y. She moved to Medford a few months ago from Daytona Beach. Mrs. Castellano was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Daytona Beach.
