LAKE HELEN -- Edna F. Dowdy, 78, of North Summit Avenue, a retired records clerk for the Florida Department of Transportation, died Tuesday at Florida Hospital-DeLand.
Mrs. Dowdy moved to this area in 1943 from her native Roda, Va. She was a volunteer with the Neighborhood Center, DeLand. She enjoyed reading and fishing.
Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Theron; a son, Douglas, DeLand; two sisters, Joyce Smith, DeLand, and Wanda Embach, Crystal River; a grandchild; and two great-grandchildren. Paulie Elliott

DAYTONA BEACH -- Paulie M. Elliott, 88, of Sunland Road, who formerly owned Whisp-O-Curl Beauty Salon in High Point, N.C., died Tuesday at Halifax Medical Center.
Mrs. Elliott, who was also a former lunchroom attendant at Longstreet Elementary School, was born in Goldsboro, N.C. She moved here in 1979 from High Point. Mrs. Elliott was a member of First Baptist Church of Daytona Beach, where she was active with the Faithful Servants Bible Class. She enjoyed watching golf, British comedy and cooking shows.

Stephen Ferro

SOUTH DAYTONA -- Stephen A. Ferro, 74, of Carey Drive, an elevator mechanic for Otis Elevator Co. in Maryland before his retirement, died Monday at Hospice Care Center, Port Orange.
Born in Washington, D.C., Mr. Ferro, a Navy veteran of the Korean War, moved here in 1989 from Silver Spring, Md. He was a member of Epiphany Catholic Church and American Legion Post 270, both in Port Orange, and the Elevator Constructors Union, Local No. 10, Washington, D.C. He enjoyed social activities at the church.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Patricia; two sons, Stephen, Aspen Hill, Md., and Thomas, Rockville, Md.; three daughters, Marsha Ladson, Palm Coast, Antonia McGowan, Brandywine, Md., and Annmarie Ferro, Silver Spring; a brother, Jerome, South Daytona; and seven grandchildren. PEARLAND, Texas -- Lois M. Francis, 86, of Pearland, Texas, an Ormond Beach and Daytona Beach resident from 1990 to 2000, died Thursday at Faith Memorial Nursing Center, Pasadena, Texas.
Mrs. Francis, a homemaker, was born in Coleman, Okla. She was a former member of Covenant United Methodist Church, Port Orange. She enjoyed crafts and gardening.
Survivors include a son, Ray, Pearland; a daughter, Linda Kemmer, Ormond Beach; a sister, Elva McDermia, Houston; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren. Corl's Family Funeral Home, Pearland, Texas, is in charge.
Alberto Galliano

EDGEWATER -- Alberto M. Galliano, 75, of Victory Palm Drive, a family practice physician in Daytona Beach and Ormond Beach from 1965 until his retirement in 1991, died Monday at home.
Dr. Galliano, a native of Sancti-Spiritus, Cuba, moved to the United States in 1958 and became a citizen in 1963. A medical school graduate of the University of Habana, Cuba, he moved to Daytona Beach in 1962 and became a general practice resident physician with Halifax District Hospital.
He was certified as a diplomat of the American Board of Family Practice, where he was a charter member. Dr. Galliano also was a member of St. Gerard's Catholic Church, Elks Lodge 1557, Florida Shores Property Owners Association, American and Florida medical associations, Volusia County Medical Society and a charter and life member of Florida Academy of Family Physicians.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Maria; two sons, Alberto, Mechanicsville, Va., and Carlos, Kingston, R.I.; a daughter, Rosa Galliano, Edgewater; four grandchildren; and a step-grandchild. Mrs. Gebhardt, a native of Allentown, Pa., moved here in 1981 from Oaks, Pa. She was a member of the Pelican Bay Country Club and enjoyed bridge, bowling, golf and the beach.

ORMOND BEACH -- Catherine Lohr Haase, 92, of Clyde Morris Boulevard, a resident since 1977, died Monday at Ormond in the Pines.
Mrs. Haase, a homemaker, moved here from her native Pittsburgh. She was an avid reader and bridge player.

DAYTONA BEACH -- Robert Allan Harris, 59, of Wilder Boulevard, a retired Port Authority baggage handler, died Monday at Halifax Medical Center.
Mr. Harris, an Army veteran, was born in Paterson, N.J., and moved here in 1987 from West New York, N.J. He enjoyed motorcycles and stamp collecting.

ORMOND BEACH -- Jane L. Keys, 71, of Laurie Drive, a paraprofessional at Bonner Elementary School, died Sunday at Halifax Medical Center, Daytona Beach.
Mrs. Keys was born in Long Island, N.Y., and moved here in 1996 from Cooper City. She was a member of Calvary Assembly of God. Mrs. Keys enjoyed bowling and reading.

PORT ORANGE -- Edith Mary Legvold, 87, of Farmbrook Road, a retired hospital bookkeeper, died Tuesday at Harbor Oaks Elderly Care Center, Port Orange.
Born in Arkansaw, Wis., Mrs. Legvold moved here in 1950 from Ohio.

Ruth McGarvey

DELAND -- Ruth L. McGarvey, 96, of West Armstrong Avenue, who operated a jewelry shop on East New York Avenue in DeLand, died Thursday at Alliance Community Center for Health Care.
Mrs. McGarvey was born in New Castle, Pa., and moved to this area in 1948 from Aliquippa, Pa. She was a member of the DeLand Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, which she helped in establishing. She also helped in the founding of the Alliance Community for Retirement Living in DeLand, where she volunteered as the food service manager for many years.

HOLLY HILL -- Victoria Mary Manieri, 96, of King Grant Road, a retired clerical worker, died Saturday at Hospice Care Center, Port Orange.
Mrs. Manieri was born in Schenectady, N.Y., and formerly lived in Beverly Beach. She was a member of Santa Maria del Mar Catholic Church, Flagler Beach.
Survivors include a niece, Priscilla Angelo, Warwick, R.I., who provided for her care. Craig-Flagler Palms, Flagler Beach, is in charge.

PALM COAST -- Loyda Rodriquez, 67, of Fischer Lane, a seamstress, died Tuesday at home.
Born in New York City, Mrs. Rodriquez came to this area in 1994 from Queens, N.Y. She was a member of Praise Assembly of God Church and Order of Eastern Star. She enjoyed cooking, reading and making dresses.
