PORT LAND, Ore. -- Jennifer S. Roderick, 30, of Portland, a former Ormond Beach resident, died Sunday at a hospital in Portland.
Mrs. Roderick, a marketing director for retirement homes and national retirement homes, lived in Ormond Beach from 1994 to 1996. She was a member of West Linn Lutheran Church, West Linn, Ore.
Survivors include her husband of 10 years, Greg; a son, Joshua, and a daughter, Isabelle, both of Portland; and her parents, John and Judith Greenwald, and a brother, Thomas Greenwald, all of Chicago. DELAND -- Jeanette R. Pope Schauber, 68, of Woodland Circle, a operatorassignment clerk for BellSouth for 35 years before her retirement, died Wednesday at home.
Mrs. Schauber moved to this area in 1938 from her native Glenville, Ga. She also worked at Florida Lutheran Retirement Center for seven years. Mrs. Schauber was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and Telephone Pioneers of America.
Survivors include her husband, John; her mother, Nadine Ryals, DeLand; a brother, Jimmy Ryals, Elkins, Ark.; and a sister, Joann Sills, Orange City. Allen-Summerhill, DeLand, is in charge.
Margaret Binder

EDGEWATER -- Margaret Wilma Binder, 97, of Orange Tree Drive, a retired nurse's aide, died Tuesday at Oceanview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, New Smyrna Beach.
Mrs. Binder was born in Cleveland and came here in 1992 from Fair Oaks, Calif. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, New Smyrna Beach. She enjoyed playing poker.
Survivors include two sons, Robert and James, both of Edgewater; two daughters, June Dolman, Edgewater, and Patricia Gaudet, Jacksonville; a sister, Pat Walters, Stow, Ohio; 16 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. Amanda Carpenter

WIGGINS, Miss. -- Amanda A. Carpenter, 84, of Wiggins, a winter resident of Holly Hill, died May 26 at Azalea Gardens Nursing Home.
Mrs. Carpenter, a retired sales clerk, was born in Sulligent, Ala, and in 1994 moved to Meridian, Miss .
Survivors include a grandson, Donald Carpenter III, Tallahassee, who provided for her care. Pinello, Daytona Beach, is in charge.
James Coughlin

ORMOND BEACH -- James P. Coughlin, 74, of Juniper Drive, a retired dock builder, died Sunday at Florida Hospital-Ormond Memorial.
Mr. Coughlin, an Army veteran of the Korean War, was born in Jersey City, N.J., and moved here in 1979 from New Jersey. He was a member of St. Brendan's Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred; two sons, John, Ormond Beach, and James, Holmdel, N.J.; two daughters, Maureen Coughlin, Ormond Beach, and Denise Borgstede, St. Petersburg; a brother, John, Folsom, Calif.; a sister, Catherine Harnett, Stanhope, N.J.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Steven Desilets

SOUTH DAYTONA -- Steven Desilets, 53, of Eastern Road, a construction laborer, died Monday at home.
Born in Fort Walton Beach, Mr. Desilets moved here in 1974 from Largo. He raised birds and enjoyed the beach and fishing.

DELAND -- Joyce Friend, 74, of North Woodland Boulevard, a resident since 1948, died Saturday at Alliance Community Center for Health Care.
Mrs. Friend, a homemaker, was born in Worchester, Mass., and moved here from Brooklyn, N.Y. She attended St. Barnabas Episcopal Church and was a member of the Moose Lodge and Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary.

Benny Goolsby

PORT ORANGE -- Benny E. Goolsby, 75, of Sand Pebble Circle, a retired general foreman in the automotive industry, died Monday at Halifax Medical Center, Daytona Beach.
Mr. Goolsby, who also was a supervisor of the tunnel at Daytona International Speedway, was born in Cottage Hill, Ala., and moved here in 1983 from Warren, Mich.
He enjoyed Harley-Davidson motorcycles.

DELTONA -- Vivian V. Hansen, 96, of Gainesville Drive, a former member of the board of directors of the Public Seating Industry, died Monday at Florida Hospital-Fish Memorial, Orange City.
Mrs. Hansen was born in Arlington Heights, Ill., and moved here in 1993.

HARDINSBURG, Ky. -- Joseph Harper, 79, of Hardinsburg, Ky., a former DeLand resident, died May 25 at Norton Hospital, Louisville, Ky.
Mr. Harper, an Army veteran of World War II, who retired from the service after 20 years, was born in Breckinridge County, Ky.

DELAND -- Virginia June "Ginny" Hartzog, 77, of Red Wing Village, a retired resort manager in the Keys, died Monday at Florida Hospital-DeLand.
Mrs. Hartzog, a native of Chicago, moved to this area in 1983 from Islamorada. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, West Volusia Audubon Society and Lake Beresford Garden Club. Mrs. Hartzog enjoyed travel, elder hostels, theater and concerts.
Survivors include two sons, Jeffrey, Tampa, and Richard, Rockford, Ill.; two daughters, Terri Hartzog, DeLand, and Nancy Hartzog, Montrose, Colo.; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Hazel Hathaway

EDGEWATER -- Hazel E. Hathaway, 63, of Orange Avenue, a former head cashier at New Smyrna Beach A&P Grocery Store, died Monday at home.
A Daytona Beach native, Mrs. Hathaway attended Seabreeze High School and graduated in 1959 from Copiah County Consolidated High Schools, Crystal Springs, Miss. The longtime Volusia County resident also worked at the former Bank of New Smyrna and was a tax secretary for various local accounting firms.
Survivors include her husband, Arthur; two sons, Glynn, Edgewater, and James, Gainesville; a brother, Kent Bates, Port Orange; a sister, Patti Fittro, South Daytona; and three grandchildren. DELEON SPRINGS -- Evelyn J. Hause, 84, of Johnson Lake Road, a former general manager for the Stamp Redemption Center, died Monday at Fernview Assisted Living Facility.
Mrs. Hause was born in Springfield, Ohio, and moved to this area in 1999 from Seville. She enjoyed reading and traveling.
