APRIL 11, 1934 -- AUG. 1, 2003
ORMOND BEACH -- Carol M. Bockoven, 69, of Oakmont Circle, a native of Millvale, Pa., died Friday at home.
Mrs. Bockoven, a homemaker, moved here as a teenager from Melville, Pa. She was a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church and a sustaining member of the Junior League of Daytona Beach.
Survivors include her husband of 47 years, Jim "Bocky"; four daughters, Vicki Picaut, Lynn Pettenger, Dona Bockoven and Kim Brown, all of Ormond Beach; a sister, Patricia Harris, Ocala; and six grandchildren. Ormond Funeral Home is in charge.

Anne Dingman
DEC, 21, 1916 -- AUG. 2, 2003
HOLLY HILL -- Anne M. Dingman, 86, of Ridgewood Avenue, owner-operator of a motel in Holly Hill for 38 years, died Saturday at Abbey Assisted Living Facility, Port Orange.
Mrs. Dingman was born in Reynoldsville, Pa., and moved here in 1945 from Niagara Falls, N.Y. She enjoyed gardening and travel.
Survivors include a son, T. Charles "Chuck" Heilbrun, Aurora, Ore.; a daughter, Lynn Dingman, Holly Hill; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Woodward, Holly Hill, is in charge.

George Edwards Jr.
MAY 29, 1949 -- JULY 26, 2003
PORT ORANGE -- George Edwards Jr., 54, of Hensel Road, owner of Edwards Adult Family Care, died July 26 of a self-inflicted gunshot wound at Daytona Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Edwards, an Army veteran of the Vietnam War, was born in Manhattan, N.Y., and moved here in 1969 from New Jersey. He attended Epiphany Catholic Church. Mr. Edwards enjoyed coaching Little League teams.
Survivors include two sons, George III and Paul, both of Port Orange; his father, George Edwards, Puerto Rico; his mother, Alice Ciasca, Oakland, N.J.; and a sister, Laur Faircloth, Connecticut. Memorial donations may be made to City of Port Orange Parks and Recreation Department, 1000 City Circle, Port Orange, FL 32127. Volusia Memorial, Port Orange, is in charge.

Hester Hall
DEC, 26, 1905 -- AUG. 2, 2003
SOUTH DAYTONA -- Hester J. Hall, 97, of South Palmetto Avenue, a resident since 1955, died Saturday at Indigo Manor Nursing Home.
Mrs. Hall, a homemaker, was born in Pine Grove, W.Va., and moved here from Charleston, W.Va. She was a member of the Methodist Church in Clendenin, W.Va. She enjoyed fishing, cooking and dancing.
Survivors include a son, Keith, Port Orange; a daughter, Imogene Powell, Daytona Beach; a sister, Beth Samples, Columbia, S.C.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Volusia - Flagler, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, FL 32129. Pinello, Daytona Beach, is in charge.

David Hinson
NOV. 3, 1945 -- AUG. 1, 2003
ORMOND BEACH -- David C. Hinson, 57, of Fox Cliff Way, area superintendent for Volusia County Schools, died Friday in an automobile accident on Orange Avenue, Daytona Beach.
Mr. Hinson was born in Green Cove Springs and grew up DeLand. He earned a degree from Bethune-Cookman College and taught biology at the former Campbell High School and Mainland High School. He was principal at New Smyrna Beach and Spruce Creek high schools before becoming area superintendent in 1998. Mr. Hinson was a member of Stewart Memorial Methodist Church, National Association of Secondary School Principals and Volusia Association of School Administrators. He enjoyed sports, especially tennis, and crossword puzzles.
Survivors include his wife of 20 years, Celestine; five sons, David Hinson Jr. and Gregory Hinson, both of Daytona Beach, Christopher Hinson, Coconut Creek, Stephen Hinson, Tallahassee, and Anthony Demps, Orlando; a daughter, Angela Demps-Polite, Daytona Beach; two brothers, Freeman, Daytona Beach, and Fredrick, Deltona; two sisters, Marilyn Jordan, DeLand, and Rosaline Jones, Pittsburgh; and eight grandchildren. Thompson, Daytona Beach, is in charge.

Arthur Houde
DEC. 8, 1923 -- AUG. 1, 2003
DAYTONA BEACH -- The Rev. Arthur O. Houde, 79, of Bermuda Petrel Court, a retired priest for the Diocese of Manchester, N.H., died Friday at Halifax Medical Center.
Rev. Houde was born in Manchester and moved here in 1995 from Honolulu. He was a member of Epiphany Catholic Church, Port Orange, where he assisted with mass. Rev. Houde graduated from St. Mary's Seminary, Baltimore, and was ordained in May 1948. He was an avid golfer.
Survivors include Dorcas O'Neil, Daytona Beach, who provided for his care. Cardwell & Maloney, Port Orange, is in charge.

Harry Kool
NOV. 22, 1919 -- AUG. 1, 2003
DAYTONA BEACH SHORES -- Harry "Kulchesky" Kool, 83, of South Atlantic Avenue, retired chief of apparatus for the Hamtramck (Mich.) Fire Department, died Friday at Halifax Medical Center, Daytona Beach.
Mr. Kool, an Army Air Forces veteran of World War II, was born in California, Pa., and moved here in 1973 from Hamtramck. For his military service, he received the Purple Heart, Air Medal and Distinguished Flying Cross. He was a member of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 3282 and Elks Lodge No. 2723, all in Port Orange. He also was a member of the Museum of Arts and Science, Daytona Beach, Florida Chapter of 8th Air Force Historical Society and 91st Bomb Group Memorial Association.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Pauline; a son, Les, Elgin, Ill.; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Cardwell & Maloney, Port Orange, is in charge.

Bob Lunsford
MARCH 14, 1950 -- JULY 29, 2003
NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Robert Wesley 'Bob' Lunsford, 53, a former resident of Daytona Beach and well-known cyclist and distance runner, collapsed and died Tuesday while bicycling in Nashville. He was in training to compete in an World Duathlon Championship Aug. 30 in Switzerland.
Mr. Lunsford was the senior wellness director of the Green Hills YMCA in Nashville. A native of Roxboro, N.C., he moved to Daytona Beach as a child and graduated from Seabreeze High School in 1969. He received his bachelor's degree from the University of the South, Sewanee, Tenn., before attending Meharry Medical College in Nashville. He was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. He was part owner and vice president of Spinnaker's restaurants before leaving to working with the YMCA of Middle Tennessee in 1997.
Survivors include two sons, Zak and Robbie, and a daughter, Wesley Ann, all of Lincoln, Neb. Memorial donations may be made to a trust fund established for the Children of Bob Lunsford at SunTrust, 120 S. Ridgewood Ave., Daytona Beach, FL 32114. Francis McCloskey
MARCH 28, 1923 -- AUG. 1, 2003
ORMOND BEACH -- Francis "Bob" McCloskey, 80, of Aaron Circle, a maintenance planner for 20 years for B.F. Goodrich, Orange, Conn., died Friday at Halifax Medical Center, Daytona Beach.
Mr. McCloskey, an Army veteran of World War II, was born in Shelton, Conn., and moved here in 1985 from Orange, Conn. He was a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus, third degree.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Esther; two sons, Gerard, Madison, Conn., and Shaun, Greenville, N.C.; two daughters, Karol Russell, Marietta, Ga., and Bobbi Siebold, St. Petersburg; a brother, Edward, Ormond Beach; a sister, Doris Papp, Stratford, Conn.; and six grandchildren. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 111 N. Frederick Ave., Suite 100, Daytona Beach, FL 32114. Ormond Funeral Home is in charge.

Catherine Sicilian
JUNE 17, 1933 -- AUG. 2, 2003
BABYLON, N.Y. -- Catherine "Kitty" Sicilian, 70, of Babylon, N.Y., mother of Mary Sicilian of Ormond Beach, died Saturday at her daughter's home.
Mrs. Sicilian, a homemaker, was born in the Bronx, N.Y. She was a lifelong member of St. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church, Deer Park, N.Y.
Additional survivors include her husband of 45 years, Peter; three sons, John, Miami, Peter, Bayside, N.Y., and James, Flushing, N.Y.; a brother, John, Atlanta; and a sister, Theresa Binns, Ormond Beach. Raymond Ward
MAY 7, 1954 -- JULY 31, 2003
BUNNELL -- Raymond Ward, 49, of South Forsythe Street, a machinist with Palm Coast Data, died Thursday at home.
Mr. Ward was born in Streator, Ill., and moved here in 1990 from Fort Wayne, Ind. He enjoyed working on cars and playing video games.
Survivors include his wife of 10 years, Sharon; two sons, Robert and Branden Yelvington, and two daughters, Jennifer Yelvington and Sara Flad, all of Bunnell; and his parents, Barbara and Frederick Smith, a brother, James, and a sister, Suzanne Ward, all of Fort Wayne. Craig, Flagler Beach, is in charge.

Leo West
MARCH 27, 1929 -- JULY 28, 2003
OAK HILL -- Leo Bernard West, 74, of Cheyenne Drive, a trial attorney in Miami before his retirement, died Monday at home.
Mr. West, an Army veteran of the Korean War, was born in Appleton, Wis., and moved here in 1998 from Rockledge. He was a member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church and Elks Lodge No. 1557, both of New Smyrna Beach. Mr. West was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin where he earned his law degree.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy; a son, Bradford, Orlando; a daughter, Dana Jensen, Melbourne; three brothers, James, Dearborn, Mich., Ralph, Fort Collins, Colo., and Al, Ontario, Ill.; and six grandchildren. Dudley, Edgewater, is in charge.

Philomina Alderigi
MAY 14, 1907 -- AUG. 1, 2003
DAYTONA BEACH -- Philomina A. Alderigi, 96, of White Fawn Drive, a candy maker for Luden Hershey, Reading, Pa., before her retirement, died Friday at Hospice Care Center, Port Orange.
Mrs. Alderigi was born in New York City and moved here in 1995 from Reading. She enjoyed reading the Bible and animals.
Survivors include a son, Oliver, Reading; a daughter, Vivian Bagley, Daytona Beach; a brother, Rudolph Vallario, St. Petersburg; and two step-grandchildren. Volusia County Cremation is in charge.

George Ball
OCT. 6, 1919 -- JULY 13, 2003
ORMOND BEACH -- George A. Ball, 83, of Old Macon Drive, a retired engineer, died Thursday at Florida Hospital-Ormond Memorial.
Mr. Ball, an Army veteran, was born in Hannibal, Mo., and moved here in 1998 from Pompano Beach. He worked for Johnston Road Builders for 22 years as a plant superintendent. He graduated from Jacksonville Theological Seminary with a degree in Ministries in 1995. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Daytona Beach, and was involved with the witnessing and Sunday School programs. He was also involved in the Boy Scouts and enjoyed playing the organ.
Survivors include three sons, Charles, Ormond Beach, David, Fairfield, Calif., and Ken, Kansas City, Mo.; two daughters, Rachel Moon, Missoula, Mont., and Mary Gates, California; three brothers, Don, Kentucky, Bill, Joliet, Ill., and Jack, Frankfort, Ill.; 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Ormond Funeral Home is in charge.
