Joan Wood
BARBERVILLE -- Joan K. Wood, 44, of Seymour Road, a registered nurse for Florida Hospital-DeLand for 12 years, died Tuesday in an automobile accident on U.S. 17.
Mrs. Wood moved here 12 years ago from St. Louis, her birthplace. She served on the Documentation Committee of Florida Hospital-DeLand. She enjoyed sewing and decorating.
Survivors include her husband of 12 years, Frederick; a son, Frederick "Lee" Jr., Barberville; a stepdaughter, Teri Camputaro, Port Orange; and four brothers, Joseph, Steven, John and Bobby Horn, and a sister, Marian Horn, all of St. Louis. Allen-Summerhill, DeLand, is in charge.
Steve Crow
EDGEWATER - Steve Crow, 44, of Umbrella Tree Drive, an Army veteran, died Saturday at Bert Fish Medical Center.
Mr. Crow, a native of Joplin, Mo., came to this area in 1996 from Lakeland.
Survivors include his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Crow, a brother, Charles, and a sister, Karen, all of Edgewater. Settle-Wilder, Edgewater, is in charge.
Robert Curtis Sr.
DAYTONA BEACH - Robert Lee Curtis, Sr., 66, of Berkshire Road, a retired painter for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, died at home Thursday.
Mr. Curtis, an Army veteran of the Korean War, was a lifelong resident of this area. He attended Bethune-Cookman College and was part of the Wildcat Marching Band.
Survivors include a son, Robert Jr., Saint Augustine; a stepson, Alphonso Monterio, Utah; a brother, Henry Black, Miami; and a sister, Inez Berry, Pennsylvania. R. J. Gainous is in charge.
Edna Ferrara
ORMOND BEACH - Edna Helene Ferrara, 63, of Pawnee Drive, a regional administrative assistant for U.S. Foodservice, Ormond Beach, for 13 years, died Sunday at home.
Mrs. Ferrara, born in Queens, N.Y., came to this area in 1980 from Ford Lauderdale, N.Y. She was a member and past president for the Beach Bum's in U.S. Foodservice.
Survivors include her husband of 38 years, Ralph; a son, Scott, Mesa, Ariz.; a daughter, Karen Ferrara, Casselberry; and a brother, John Castle, Ormond Beach. DELAND - Ann F. Hall, 92, of North Stone Street, a retired school teacher, died Sunday at a local care center.
Mrs. Hall, a native of Leeds, Mass., came to this area in 1988 from Clarksburg, Mass.
Survivors include two sons, John Welch, Ormond Beach, and Owen Welch, Safety Harbor; and seven grandchildren. Allen-Summerhill, DeLand, is in charge.
William Johnson
DELAND - William Johnson, 91, of South Clara Avenue, retired owner of a grocery store, died Sunday at Memorial Hospital-Ormond Beach.
Mr. Johnson, an Army veteran, came to this area in the late 1970's from New York.

Katheryn Kelton
DELAND - Katheryn L. Kelton, 54, of Foxfire Lane, an senior secretary for the sociology department of Stetson University, died Satuday at Shand's Teaching Hospital, Gainesville.
Mrs. Kelton, a 1974 graduate of the University of Central Florida, was born in Bronx, N.Y, and moved to this area in 1971 from North Miami. She was a member of the Junior Service League, where she served as treasurer from 1986 to 1987, and as president from 1989 to 1990; was a chairperson for the West Volusia Chapter of the American Heart Association; DeLand Little League and the House Next Door, where she sat on the Board of Directors; and Epsilon Sigma Alpha Sorority, where she was a past member of Zeta Theta Chapter. In 1996, she was awarded the Problem Solver of the Year Award from Stetson University.
Survivors include her husband of 29 years, Richard; three sons, Russell and Michael, all of DeLand, and Hal, Pacific Grove, Calif.; a daughter, Rachel Kmetz, Orlando; and a grandchild. Rev. Daniel Madison
DAYTONA BEACH - The Rev. Daniel P. Madison, 74, of South Beach Street, a retired school teacher and ordained minister, died Friday at home.
Rev. Madison, a native of Monticello, came to this area in the early 1990's from Meadville, Pa. A graduate of Howard Academy, Monticello, he later recieved his bachelor's degree from Tuskeegee Institute, Tusgeegee, Ala., and earned his bachelor of divinity degree from Payne Theological Seminary at Wilberforce University, Ohio. He first taught in the public schoool system of his hometown, later instructing at the University of Southern California, Pasadena. In addition to his career in teaching, he was assistant minister for Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church, Daytona Beach. He enjoyed reading.
Survivors include three brothers, Charles, Daytona Beach, James, Jacksonville, and Milton, Ennis, Texas; and a sister, Sarah Brown, Fort Lauderdale. R. J. Gainous is in charge.
J. Walter Nordmann
NEW SMYRNA BEACH - J. Walter Nordmann, 75, of Dune Circle, co-owner of Nordman Ornamental Nursery, DeLand, died Saturday at home.
Mr. Nordmann, an Army veteran of World War II, was born in DeLand and was a lifelong resident of Volusia County. A graduate of DeLand High School, he attended Stetson University. In addition to his ownership of the nursery, he worked as a citrus grower, beekeeper and honey processor. A member of St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, where he was a 13-year member of the vestry, he also served on the DeLand Zoning Board; was a 20-year member of First Federal of Mid-Florida Savings and Loan; Memorial Hospital-West Volusia, where he was a member of the Board of Directors for 13 years; was a Rear Commodore for both Lake Beresford Yacht Club and the New Smyrna Yacht Club; and P.H.P.
Survivors include his wife, Carlys; four sons, Judge Patrick Kennedy and Dennis Kennedy, both of Port Orange, Scott Morgan, Gray, Tenn., and Kirby Morgan, Maitland; a daughter, Gale Blomquist, Edgewater; three brothers, Paul, Charles and Leo, all of DeLand; and five grandchildren. John Pagano
DELAND - John Pagano, 99, of East New York Avenue, a retired city treasurer for the City of Pittsburgh, died Saturday at a local hospital.
Mr. Pagano, a native of Pittsburgh, came to this area in 1949 from his birthplace. He was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church.

Mary Peacock
SEVILLE - Mary Purvis Peacock, 92, of Purvis Road, a native of Pigot Branch, Ga., died Sunday at a local care center.
Mrs. Peacock, a homemaker, came to this area in 1926 from Mendes, Ga. She was a member of Stetson Baptist Church and Order of Eastern Star Chapter 186, both of DeLand.
Survivors include three sons, Earl Purvis, Seville, and Herbert and Harry Purvis, both of DeLand; four stepsons, Roy and Freddy Peacock, both of Pierson, Norman Peacock, South Daytona and Billy Peacock, Florahome; a daughter, Kathleen Kerens, Holly Hill; three stepdaughters, Doris and Eppie Peacock, both of Alma, Ga., and Brenda Crosby, Palm Coast; a brother, Bud Blocker, and a sister, Doby Blocker, both of Glenville, Ga.; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Dr. Normon Rausch
NEW SMYRNA BEACH - Dr. Normon Wesley Rausch, M.D., Lake Fairgreen Circle, a former general medicine practitioner, died Saturday at home.
Dr. Rausch, an Army Medical Corps veteran of World War II, was born in Irvington, N.J., and came to this area in the late 1980's as a winter resident from Angola, Ind., moving here permanently in 1997. A 1943 graduate of Duke Medical School, he was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Fort Wayne, Ind., and B.P.O. Elks Lodge #2398, Angola.
Survivors include his wife, Jeanelle; two sons, Dennis, Austin, Fla., and Curt, DeLand; and three grandchildren. Baldwin-Hughey is in charge.
Hazel Rowley
HOLLY HILL - Hazel J. Rowley, 99, of L.P.G.A. Boulevard, a former bookeeper for the former Studebaker Automobile Company, South Bend, Ind., died Saturday at Bishop's Glen Nursing Home.
Mrs. Rowley came to this area in 1959 from her native South Bend, Ind. She was a member of Seabreeze United Church of Christ, Daytona Beach, and enjoyed oil and china painting.

Jean-Baptiste Begin
HOLLY HILL - Jean-Baptiste Begin, 89, of Tallahassee Drive, a retired cabinet maker for Modern Age Kitchens, Holly Hill, died Saturday at home.
Mr. Begin moved here in 1970 from his native St. Ludger, Quebec. He was a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church and the Ormond Beach Senior Center.

ORANGE CITY - George Frederick Cannie, 87, of Dogwood Court, a retired engineer for Simkins Industries, New Haven, Conn., died Saturday at John Knox Village Medical Center.
Mr. Cannie was born in North Bergen, N.J., and moved here in 1998 from Palm City.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Dorothy; a son Jay, Plainsboro, N.J.; a brother, Gerard, Bergenfield, N.J.; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Deltona Memorial, Orange City, is in charge.
Zareh Casper
DAYTONA BEACH - Zareh Casper, 85, of South Peninsula Drive, who retired after 33 years as an accountant/bookkeeper for Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Co., Chicago, Ill., died Saturday at home.
Mr. Casper, an Army veteran of World War II, serving with the Anti-Aircraft Division in Okinawa, Japan, the Phillipines, Hawaii, and the general South Pacific, was born in Marsovan, Turkey, and moved here in 1977 from Chicago. He was a member of St. James Armenian Church, Evanston, Ill. He enjoyed gardening, being outdoors, bicycling, classical music, baseball, basketball and football.
Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Kayane; a son, John, and a daughter, Lena Jones, both of Daytona Beach. Haigh-Black, Daytona Beach, is in charge.
Evelyn Cook
NEW SMYRNA BEACH - Evelyn Mary Cook, 90, of Kersey Road, a resident since 1956, died Saturday at Oceanview Nursing Home.
Mrs. Cook, a homemaker, was born in Bayridge, N.Y., and moved here from Long Island, N.Y. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Veteran of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and Elks Lodge Auxiliary. She enjoyed arts and crafts.
Survivors include two sons, Robert Bijesse, Palm Coast, and Albert Bijesse Jr., Franklin, N.C.; a daughter, Barbara Adkins, New Smyrna Beach; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren. Baldwin Brothers Memorial is in charge.
