Catalina (Ketty) Rojas Isalgue
Catalina (Ketty) Rojas Isalgue, 82, passed away in her home on November 1 in Coral Gables. Catalina Rojas Isalgué was born in Vueltas, Las Villas, Cuba, on September 20, 1927 to Maria Luisa Gonzalez and Ignacio Rojas. The beloved wife of 56 years to Dr. Ulises Isalgué, Ketty graduated from the University of Havana, Cuba, as a doctor of medicine; after training in the U.S., she practiced in Warren-Niles, Ohio, for 25 years, until she retired and moved to Miami, last residing in Coral Gables. Ketty is predeceased by her brother Fred Rojas, and is survived by her loving brother Max Rojas, many cousins, nieces and nephews. Mary Joyce Kriss
Mary Joyce Kriss, 69, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 3. She died peacefully surrounded by family and friends. Mary's untimely death is attributed to acute Leukemia resulting from her previous battle with Breast Cancer. Mary Joyce Mahoney was born in Kalamazoo, MI. on October 5, 1940 and she has resided in Miami, Florida since 1963. She is preceded by her loving husband Ted C. Kriss, of 34 years, with whom she resided in Key Largo, Fla. Mary and Ted resided in Key Largo, Florida for a total of nine years along with their beloved Yorkie, Molly before returning to Miami in 2004. Mary Joyce graduated from the St. Lawrence School of Nursing in Lansing, MI. in 1962. She was a retired Registered Nurse of 26 years, whose service included 18 years as an ER Nurse for Baptist Hospital in Miami. Mary's nursing career also included employment with South Miami Hospital, as well as Coral Reef Hospital. Mary was the loving mother of daughter Jennifer N. Pierce of Miami and son Ted C. Kriss Jr. (Christine) of Miami. Mary Joyce is survived by her adoring mother Mary Wilson Dudley (92) of Kalamazoo, MI, her loving sister Elizabeth Mattoli (Ruggero) of Rome, Italy and her three loving brothers: Richard Mahoney (Sharon) of Kalamazoo, MI, John Roy Dudley (Brenda) of Madison, WI. and Gordon Dudley (Maureen) of Conifer, CO. Mary lovingly leaves a precious living legacy of four grandchildren: Tristan S. Elliott (12), Pierce C. Elliott (11), Piper J. Marie Elliott (4) and Griffin L. Kriss (1) of Miami, FL. to whom she was known as their beloved Mimi. Her ashes will be spread in the Florida Keys. A memorial service was held to honor Mary on November 11. The service will be held at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Pinecrest. The family will host a Celebration of Life Reception immediately following the memorial service at: The Coco Plum Woman's Club located at: 1375 Sunset Drive in Coral Gables, FL. Clara Rush Oesterle
Clara Rush Oesterle, 84, of Young Drive, Inglis, FL, passed away on Sunday, November 1. She was born in Scottsville, KY, on March 22, 1925, daughter of the late Nora Elmore Cathey and Everett Rush. Clara was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Prior to moving to Inglis in 1999, Clara lived in Miami, after having moved there in 1947. Until she retired in 1961, Clara was a registered nurse and office manager for Drs. Sackett, Dix, and Dunn in Coral Gables. In 1974, she was elected as a commissioner of Dade County, and served in that position until 1988. Clara played a major role in getting Dade County's Metro rail and Metromover mass transportation systems planned and constructed. For these efforts, she was recognized by Nancy Reagan in a ceremony at the White House's Rose Garden in Washington, D.C. Clara was also a member of numerous boards of directors, including Jackson Memorial Hospital, Public Health Trust, YMCA, Dade County Citizens Safety Council, South Miami Hospital Foundation, Dade County Youth Fair, American Public Transportation Association, and the State Association of County Commissioners. Clara's husband Ralph ran a very successful income tax and accounting business in Miami. Clara is survived by her daughter Jacki Cooper and her husband Ron of Inglis, FL; and her sons Mike Oesterle of Crystal River, FL and Ed Oesterle and his fiancée Nichol Whitsel of Crystal River, by seven grandchildren: Brandi Medina, Dawn Allen, Brian Oesterle, Karen Caraballo, Tor Storkersen, Chris Storkerson, and Payton Whitsel; eight great- grandchildren: Nicole Caraballo, Destiny Medina, Brandon Caraballo, Trinity Medina, Cooper Allen, Brian Michael Oesterle, Carter Allen, and Madelyn Oesterle; and by several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her brother Dick Rush and his wife Grace of Gallatin, TN and by her brother-in-law Wm. Maurice Crouch of Manchester, TN. Clara was predeceased by her husband Ralph, their daughters Patty and Robin, and her sister Dean Crouch. In honoring her wishes, there will be no calling hours or memorial service. William Patterson
William Patterson, 86, of Miami and former resident of Coral Gables for 56 years, passed away on October 31. Born in Marietta, OH on August 19, 1923 to Rev. A.J. and Jessie Patterson. He attended Miami Shores Elementary, Miami Edison High School, graduated from the University of Miami in 1949 with a degree in electrical engineering, and served in the U.S. Navy. He worked at AEROCOM were he received three patents. Predeceased by his daughter Linda Ann Patterson; He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years Jean Schroeder Patterson, niece Barbara Davenport of Blue Ridge, GA, god daughter Mary Bee Hughart and family and friends. A visitation was held November 4, from at Van Orsdel Funeral Home Coral Gables. Services was held at Granada Presbyterian Church on November 5 followed by a repast for family and friends at the fellowship hall. Arthur Allyn
NEW SMYRNA BEACH - Arthur M. Allyn, 97, of North Riverside Drive, a retired college administrator, died Wednesday at Hospice Care Center, Port Orange.
Mr. Allyn, a Navy veteran of World War II, was born in Cleveland, and came here in 1969 from Camp Hill, Pa. Memberships included: United Church of Christ, where he served as vice moderator, chairman of finance and performed in the choir; the Elks Lodge, New Smyrna Beach; Foundation for Independent Colleges of Pennsylvania, where he served as a past president, and the Smyrna Yacht Club, where he served as a past commodore. He earned a doctoral degree from Dickinson College, Carlisle, Pa.
Survivors include his wife, Muriel, New Smyrna Beach; a son, Gary Smith, Great Falls, Va.; two daughters, Margaret Keen, Avalon, N.J., and Judith Schmitt, Jackson Hole, Wyo.; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Baldwin Brothers Memorial Care Services, New Smyrna Beach is in charge.

DAYTONA BEACH - Julius Ceasar "Preacher Man" Bens, 57, of Keech Street, a plasterer's assistant in the construction industry, died Wednesday at Daytona Beach Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.
Mr. Bens was born in Shorterville, Ala., and moved here in 1984 from his birthplace. He enjoyed repairing automobiles.
Survivors include a son, Julius III, Haines City; four brothers, Charlie Bens, U.J. and Eddie Anderson, all of Daytona Beach, and Willie Bens, Lauderhill; and two sisters, Cora Bens and Edna Anderson, both of Shorterville. Gainous is in charge.
George Fernicola
NEW SMYRNA BEACH - George P. Fernicola, 91, of Cedar Dunes Drive, who retired in 1984 after 25 years of service as a salesman and buyer for John Frank's Men's Store in Westfield, N.J., died Wednesday at Bert Fish Medical Center.
Mr. Fernicola was born in Newark, N.J., and moved to this area in 1988 from Clark, N.J. He was a member of the Republican Club. He enjoyed playing golf.
Survivors include his wife, Lois; and a daughter, Georgine Wall, Alexandria, Va. Settle-Wilder, NewSmyrna Beach, is in charge.
Paul Gramenz
SOUTH DAYTONA - Paul Gramenz, 47, of Big Tree Rd., a cable installment company employee for 15 years, died Monday at home.
Mr. Gramenz was born in Indiana, and moved here in 1991 from Texas. He enjoyed sailing and motorcycles.

Grace Haldi
PORT ORANGE - Grace Haldi, 75, of Devon Street, a native of Pittsburgh, died Wednesday at Memorial Hospital-Ormond Beach.
Mrs. Haldi came here in 1986 from Youngstown, Ohio. She enjoyed square dancing and round dancing at St. Brendan's Catholic Church, Ormond Beach.

NEW SMYRNA BEACH - Hazen M. Kelley, 75, of North Atlantic Avenue, a retired insurance agent for Petroleum Underwriters, Casselberry, died Wednesday at home.
Mr. Kelley, a Marine Corps veteran of World War II, was born in Syracuse, N.Y., and moved here in 1983 from Sanford.

Helen King
PALM COAST - Helen Corwin King, 89, of Lake Forest Place, a resident of the area for four years, died Wednesday at Hospice Care Center, Port Orange.
Mrs. King, a homemaker, was born in Reform, Ala., and moved here from Towson, Ala. She was a member of the Christian Science Church and was a former president of the Community Garden Club, both in Maryland.
Survivors include two sons, Michael and William Kidd, both of Palm Coast; a brother, Henry Corwin, Brentwood, Tenn.; five grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Coastal Cremation, Palm Coast, is in charge.
John Lee
PORT ORANGE - John A. Lee, 76, of Laredo Drive, who retired in 1984 as a supervisor for American Electric and Power in Lawrenceburg, Ind., died Monday at Atlantic Medical Center-Daytona Beach.
Mr. Lee, an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, moved to this area in 1987 from Lawrenceburg. He was a member of Atlantic Coast Baptist Church. He enjoyed playing pool.

HOLLY HILL - Leona Liles, 87, of Granada Avenue, a native of Axson, Ga., died Thursday at Memorial Hospital-Ormond Beach.
Mrs. Liles, a homemaker, moved to this area in 1947 from Flagler County. She enjoyed cooking and crocheting.
Survivors include two sons, Jack and William, both of Holly Hill; three daughters, Joanne Moon and Carol Buchanan, both of Korona, and Bonnie Savino, Holly Hill; three sisters, Dicy Summer and Alice Douglas, both of Georgia, and Lois Cothren, Jacksonville; 27 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren. ORMOND BEACH - Alice Mary Lovell, 87, of Rocky Creek Trail, who retired in 1984 after 24 years of service with the Flagler Beach Post Office, died Thursday at Memorial Hospital-Ormond Beach.
Mrs. Lovell was born in Nashua, Iowa, and moved here in 1994 from Flagler Beach. She was a charter member of Flagler United Methodist Church, American Postal Worker's Union and was a life member of the Order of Eastern Star. She enjoyed quilting and crafts.

HARBOR HILLS, Ohio - Claron F. Mann, 86, a seasonal resident of Ormond Beach, died Thursday at Licking Harbor Hospital, Newark, Ohio.
Mr. Mann, an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, was born in Columbus, Ohio. He was the owner of Claron Mann Beauty Supply, Whitehall, Ohio, for more than 50 years. He was a former member of the Buckeye Yacht Club and the Bexley Lion's Club.

TITUSVILLE - Patricia K. Owens, 38, of Hillcrest Avenue, a frequent visitor of the Oak Hill area, died Thursday at Titusville Rehabilitation and Nursing Home, of respiratory failure.
Mrs. Owens, a former supervisor at Wal-Mart, moved to Titusville four years ago from her native Fordyce, Ark. She was a member of Bible Way Church of God in Christ, Oak Hill.
Survivors include her husband, Derick; two sons, Adrian and Corrie White, both of Titusville; three daughters, Allison White, Titusville, and Crystal Owens and Dieasha Owens, both of Eldorado, Ark.; a brother, Enoch Smith, Fordyce; and two sisters, Martha Smith and Dorothy Crosby, both of New York. D'Bette Sizemore
TAMPA - D'Bette M. Sizemore, 53, of Tampa, a former teacher and resident of Daytona Beach, died Friday at home.
Mrs. Sizemore was born in Lafollette, Tenn., and moved to Daytona Beach in 1957 from her birthplace. She relocated to Tampa in 1970. She was a graduate of Seabreeze High School and Florida State University, Tallahassee. Memberships included: Hyde Park United Methodist Church; Parent/Teacher Association, where she served as president; Easter Seals Guild; Young Life; Special Olympics; Girl Scouts; United Methodist Center; Super Bowl XXV Task Force; Davis Island Garden Club; H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center at Tampa General Hospital, and the Palma Ceia Golf and Country Club.
Survivors include her husband, Bill; a son, Bill Jr., Ocala; two daughters, Tori Lehman, Lakeland, and Sloan Sizemore, Tampa; her mother, Lewis Morris, Ormond Beach; and two grandchildren.
