Richard Homan
PORT ORANGE - Richard P. Homan, 72, of Oak River Drive, an information service senior analyst for for G.P.U. until his retirement in 1988 after 30 years of service, died Wednesday at Manor Care Rehabilitation Center, Laureldale, Pa.
Mr. Homan, an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, was born in Fleetwood, Pa., and moved to this area following his retirement. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Fleetwood.
Survivors include a brother, Samuel, Delmar, Md.; and three sisters, Mary Riemondy and Naomi Lawton, both of Hershey, Pa., and Lucille Hawkins, Fleetwood. Mae A. Stump Funeral Home, Fleetwood, is in charge.
Ida Isom
DAYTONA BEACH - Ida Mae Isom, 77, of Nova Road, a retired proxy clerk for PaineWebber, died Saturday at Daytona Beach Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.
Mrs. Isom, a native of New Orleans, came here 12 years ago from Brooklyn, N.Y. She was a member of the Jane United Methodist Church. She enjoyed traveling, reading and music.
Survivors include three sons, Herbert Jr., Las Vegas, Ronald, Hampton, Va., and Eric, Brooklyn; three daughters, Myrna Henry, Daytona Beach, Beanie Bennette, Moreno Valley, Calif., and Trudy Isom-Oliver, Deltona; a sister, Joyce Williams, Brooklyn; 21 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren. Jill Josapak
DAYTONA BEACH - Jill Diane Josapak, 41, of Live Oak Avenue, a jewelry manager for Service Merchandise, died Sunday at Hospice Care Center, Port Orange.
Mrs. Josapak, born in Sacramento, Calif., moved to this area in 1995 from Clearwater. A member of Dog Fanciers of Daytona Beach and the Irish Setter Club of America, she traveled extensively to attend dog shows.
Survivors include her husband, John; two brothers, Gerrell Schubert, Palmer Lake, Colo., and Stephen Schubert, Page, Ariz.; and a friend, Beverly Riggio, Fort Collins, Colo., who helped provide for her care. Lillian Kaupelis
ORMOND BEACH - Lillian M. Kaupelis, 75, of Salvador Place, a bookkeeper for the Emory L. Bennett Memorial Veterans Nursing Home, Daytona Beach, before her retirement in 1988, died Friday at Memorial Hospital-Peninsula.
Mrs. Kaupelis, a Women's Army Corps veteran of World War II, was born in West Liberty, Ky., and came here in 1969 from Ohio. She enjoyed reading.

Kaylee Kework
HOLLY HILL - Kaylee Kework, 5, of Revere Lane, a student at Pathways Elementary School, Ormond Beach, died Saturday at home following a long illness.
Kaylee was born in Daytona Beach and was a lifelong resident of the area. She was a member of a Trisomy 13-18 support group. She loved music, her stuffed animals and playing with her brother.
Survivors include her parents, Matthew and Susan Kework, and her brother, Danny, all of Holly Hill; and her grandparents, Mike and Barb Scharabella and Dorothy Kelsey, all of Ormond Beach. Agnes Manns
DAYTONA BEACH - Agnes Roberta Manns, 77, of South Ridgewood Avenue, a retired school food service worker in Port Orange and Daytona Beach, died Jan. 18 at home.
Mrs. Manns, born in Chicago, came to this area in 1972 from Wilmington, Ill., where she worked in the Joliet Army Ammunition Plant cafeteria.
Survivors include two sons, Ronald, Port Orange, and Gilbert, Channahon, Ill.; a brother, Ralph Livingston, East Dundee, Ill.; two granddaughters; three stepgrandchildren; and five stepgreat-grandchildren. Volusia County Cremation is in charge.
Myrtle Phillips
DAYTONA BEACH - Myrtle M. Phillips, 86, of Maplewood Drive, a native of Emlenton, Pa., died Thursday at home.
Mrs. Phillips, a homemaker, moved to this area in 1960 from California.

Dorothy Piazza
PORT ORANGE - Dorothy Piazza, 76, of Village Trail, who was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., died Sunday at Halifax Medical Center, Daytona Beach.
Mrs. Piazza, a homemaker, moved to this area in 1999 from Coral Springs. She was a member of the Port Orange Senior Center and the Moose Auxiliary.
Survivors include a son, Augustus, Nutley, N.J.; two daughters, Phyllis Dessoye, Port Orange, and Mary Piazza, Englishtown, N.J.; and six grandchildren. Halifax Cremation, New Smyrna Beach, is in charge.
Willie Porter
AQUONE, N.C. - Willie Mae Porter, 96, of Aquone, formerly of Daytona Beach, died Sunday at a hospital in Murphy, N.C.
Mrs. Porter, a former bookkeeper, was born in Cherokee County, Ga., and moved to North Carolina in 1963 from Daytona Beach. She was a member of the Ormond Beach Alliance Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Ann Thibeault, Aquone; two grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy, is in charge.
Kathy Reath
DAYTONA BEACH - Kathy Whitfield Reath, 41, of Brentwood Drive, a native of Miami, died Monday at Memorial Hospital-Ormond Beach.
Mrs. Reath, a homemaker, moved to this area in 1997 from her birthplace. She was a member of the Gray Temple Church of God in Christ. She earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Miami. She enjoyed youth work.
Survivors include her husband, Willie; a stepson, Johnny Reath, Germany; a daughter, Nikia Simmons, her parents, Mary and John Bolden, a brother, Tony Bolden, and a sister, Cynthia Bolden, all of Miami; and a grandchild. Gainous is in charge.
Jene Roberts Jr.
DAYTONA BEACH - Jene V. "Skip" Roberts Jr., 49, of Boylston Avenue, a construction worker and an employee of U.S. Food Service, died Sunday at Halifax Medical Center.
Mr. Roberts was a native and lifelong resident of Daytona Beach. He attended Seabreeze High School, Daytona Beach Community College and the University of Florida, Gainesville. A performer in his junior and senior high school bands, he later played in several rock bands and enjoyed country music.
Survivors include his wife of 20 years, Wendy; a stepdaughter, Holly Williams, Daytona Beach; his father, Jene Roberts, Daytona Beach; his mother, Donnie Dean, Ormond Beach; three brothers, Randy, Ormond Beach, and Ronald and Tiger, both of New Smyrna Beach; and a grandchild. ORMOND-BY-THE-SEA - Dale M. Shapiro, in her 70s, of Capistrano Drive, a native of Montrose, N.Y., died Friday at home.
Mrs. Shapiro, a homemaker, came here four years ago from Long Island, N.Y. She and her family won the February 2000 House Beautiful neighborhood award. She enjoyed gardening, decorating and animals.
Survivors include her husband of 36 years, Stanley; two sons, Bryan Kantner, New Hampton, N.Y., and Leslie Lawrence, Peekskill, N.Y.; a daughter, Yvonne Adams, Interlachen; a sister, Yvonne Adams, Sleepy Hollow, N.Y.; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Ogard Smith
DAYTONA BEACH - Ogard Roland Smith, 28, of Patrick Circle East, an employee of Homac Manufacturing, Ormond Beach, died Friday at a bar on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard from a gunshot wound.
Mr. Smith, a 1990 graduate of Mainland High School, was born in Rockledge and came to this area as an infant from Cocoa. He was a member of Mount Tabor Primitive Baptist Church, Merritt Island, where he served on the Board of Ushers, sang in the choir and was a delegate to district meetings. He also was a member of the East Florida Primitive Baptist Association. He attended Daytona Beach and Brevard community colleges. He enjoyed music and playing basketball and billiards.
Survivors include a daughter, Porsha Smith, and his parents, Johnny McDonald and Sarah Smith-McDonald, all of Daytona Beach; two brothers, George Bartee, Deltona, and Patrick Bartee, Orlando; and his fiancee, Connie Stokes, Daytona Beach. Gainous is in charge.
James F. Durham II
James F. Durham II, 77, passed away peacefully and without pain in Melbourne Beach, Florida, on Sept. 25 in the presence of his loving wife and family, after a brief illness of melanoma cancer. Jim was born on June 14, 1931, in Madisonville, Kentucky, to a family which had roots in Kentucky for many generations. He earned college and law degrees from Vanderbilt University. Following his graduation, he served as a Legal Officer in the U.S. Army in New York City, where he also attended graduate school at New York University School of Law. He moved to Miami in 1956 and joined Miami’s oldest law firm, Shutts & Bowen, where he had a distinguished career as a real estate lawyer for 45 years. Jim served his profession as an author for The Florida Bar on mortgage foreclosure law, and he served his community as an officer of the Junior Chamber of Commerce and as a member of various boards of the City of Coral Gables, where he resided until moving to Melbourne Beach after his retirement in 2001. Jim enjoyed playing tennis at the Country Club of Coral Gables and sailing and fishing activities while a member of the Coral Reef Yacht Club. Jim was a kind, gentle, friendly and caring man who appreciated and enjoyed life. He was admired, respected, and loved by his family and by his friends, who will cherish their memories of his friendship. Jim is survived by his loving wife Kathy; canine companions Ally & Dixie; sons James F. Durham, III (Rosie) and Gregory P. Durham, Sr. (Kathi) of Melbourne Beach, Florida; daughters Kim Lynskey (Mark) of Chattanooga, Tennessee, and Kathryn Harrison (Randall) of Miami, Florida. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren Ray (Carla), Ryan, Michelle, Rachael, Stephanie, Maggie, Molly, Chloe, Olivia, Liam, Ellen, Amanda, and Gregory, Jr. A visitation will be held on Oct. 9, from 5 to 7 p.m., at Brownlie-Maxwell Funeral Home, 1010 E. Palmetto Avenue, Melbourne, Florida. A memorial service will be held on Oct. 10, at 1 p.m., at Chapel By The Sea, 8240 Highway A1A, Melbourne Beach, Florida. Martha W. Fabing
Martha W. Fabing, 96, passed away on Sept. 29. She was born on April 20, 1912 in Cincinnati, Ohio. She was a graduate of Ohio Wesleyan University, class of 1934, and later earned a Masters Degree at the University of Miami. Martha was the devoted wife of William D. Fabing for 47 years until his death in 1988. Martha and Bill moved to Miami in 1945. She lived here until 1993. During that year Martha relocated to Ocean Village on Hutchinson Island. She returned to Miami in 2002. Prior to coming to Miami, Martha was an employee of the Ohio public schools for six years and spent four years as an employee of the public schools in Virginia. During her career in the Miami-Dade Public schools Martha was a teacher, an assistant principal and the first principal of Palm Springs Elementary School in Hialeah. She was the principal of Kenwood Elementary School in Kendall for 22 years. A part of the tropical forest at Kenwood is dedicated to her. Martha’s civic memberships included the D. A. R., John Macdonald Chapter in Miami and the Cora Stickney Harper Chapter in Ft. Pierce. She was also a member of Tri Delta Society, Delta Kappa Gamma; and the A.W.O.L.s at Ocean Village. Martha’s education affiliations included the Florida Elementary Principals of Dade County, the National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP) and the Dade Business and Professional Women. She was a member of the Riviera Presbyterian Church in Coral Gables, and a member of the Coral Gables Country Club from 1948-1993. Martha was known to be a protector of animals and lover of children. Dogs were a visible part of her schools and a cat named Spooky was a permanent resident at the Kenwood School. Her hobbies were reading, water aerobics and caring for animals. She was well known for her generous support of church and charitable organizations. Martha is survived by her sister, Mary White; her nephew, Bill White; her niece Carol Stater and her brother-in- law, Jay Fabing. A Memorial service was held on Oct. 8 at the Riviera Presbyterian Church, located at 5275 Sunset Drive, Miami. Memorial contributions may be sent to the Memorial Fund of the Church. Emilia Luzarraga Fernandez, 70 of Coral Gables passed away on Oct. 4. She is survived by her husband, Lino B. Fernandez; children and children- in-law, Emilia Maria Fernandez and Rafael Gonzalez, Lino Bernabe Fernandez Jr. and Jacqueline Mantilla Fernandez, Lucia Fernandez Silveira and Ramon Silveira; Brothers, Juanita and Jorge Plana, Jacinto and Irma Luzarraga, Pepe and Beba Luzarraga, Yoyi and Silvia Luzarraga; grandchildren, Carolina, Claudia and Nicolas Jacinto Navarro, Sofia Cristina, Gabriela Emilia and Lino Bernabe Fernandez, III, Cristina Nicole Fernandez, Emilia Maria Alvarez, Lucia Isabela Silveira. Marjorie O. Brickell
Marjorie Odom Brickell, widow of William B. Brickell Jr., died of Alzheimer’s disease at her Coral Gables home on Sept. 24, two days before her 87th birthday.
