Bertha Breuning, 91, Beverly Hills, died Sunday, Dec. 28, 2003, in Ocala.
She was born in Germany to Gebhard and Anna (Koch) Wolfer. She moved here from New York, N.Y., in 1971.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Beverly Hills Community Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Breuning, in October 1977.
Survivors include her son, Ronald W. Breuning of Dunnellon; daughter, Anita L. VanGelder of Dunnellon; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nephews.

M. Jeanette Burgess, 60, Crystal River, died Saturday, Dec. 27, 2003, at her home.
She was born June 3, 1943, in St. Petersburg to Herbert R. and Mizpah (Lauramore) Krause and moved here four years ago from St. Cloud.
Mrs. Burgess was a retired certified nurse's assistant.
She was Protestant.
Survivors include her husband, Larry E. Burgess of Crystal River; son, Brian Thrasher of Crystal River; father, Herbert Krause of Crystal River; mother, Mizpah Krause of St. Cloud; sister, Minnie Krause of St. Cloud; and a niece.

Russell Cushman, 65 Lecanto
Russell Bryan Cushman, Lecanto, 65, died Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2003, at his home in Lecanto.
He was born Aug. 5, 1938, in Blair, Neb., son of the late Frank and Rose Cushman. He moved to Lecanto in 1999.
He served eight years in the U.S. Air Force, worked for the Civil Service, Philco Ford in deep space tracking and retired from Illinois Institute of Technical Research Institute.
His hobbies included traveling, boating, fishing and gardening.
Survivors include his wife, Janice; four children, Gerald Cushman of Ventura, Calif., Gwen Reed and husband, Scott, of Westlake Village, Calif., Richard Livoni and wife, Rochelle, of Williston and Denise Orr and husband, Stephen, of Hernando Beach; and three sisters, Norma Cushman of Sonora, Calif., Thelma Cell and husband, William, of Westminster, Colo., and Donna Shanks and husband, Jack, of Leesburg; and four grandchildren.

Miriam Grossman, 76, Oak Run, Ocala, member of Congregation Beth Sholom in Beverly Hills, died Saturday, Dec. 27, 2003, in Ocala.
Born in Philadelphia, Pa., to Morris and Fannie (Bernstein) Levy, she came to Florida in 1987.
She was a homemaker and a member of the AARP, the Jewish Club and Travel Club, all of Oak Run in Ocala.
Survivors include her husband of 28 years, Irving E. Grossman of Ocala; sister, Esther Brown of Philadelphia, Pa.; brothers, Albert and Irvin Levy, both of Philadelphia, Pa.; a niece; and a nephew.

Richard Hawk, 85 Lecanto
Richard W. Hawk, 85, Lecanto, died Sunday, Dec. 28, 2003, at Munroe Regional Medical Center in Ocala.
A native of Binghamton, N.Y., he was born March 12, 1918, to William and Louise Hawk. He moved to Citrus County in 1996 from Lantana.
He was a retired painting contractor, and drove a school bus for 10 years for the Palm Beach County School System.
He was graduated from the Eastern Nazarene College in Quincy, Mass.
Mr. Hawk loved writing poetry and stories and was an avid golfer. He was a member of the Hernando Church of the Nazarene, and sang in the choir.
He was preceded in death by his son, Timothy Hawk, in 1996.
Survivors include his wife, Mary (Shoemaker) Hawk of Lecanto; two sons, Steven Hawk of Lecanto and Daniel Hawk of Cocoa; four daughters, Yvonne Hawk of Grayson, Ga., Juanita Tiona of Boca Raton, Jeannine Hawk of Saugus, Mass., and Jennifer Scranage of Hattiesburg, Miss.; one sister, Grace Whitney of Inverness; and six grandchildren.

Stanley W. Lipinski, 79, Homosassa, died Sunday, Dec. 28, 2003, at his home.
Born Dec. 19, 1924, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to Stanley and Anna (Terucis) Lipinski, he moved to this area 12 years ago from Gilboa, N.Y.
Mr. Lipinski was a retired truck driver.
Survivors include his wife, Joan Lipinski of Homosassa; two sons, Peter and Michael Lipinski both of New York; niece, Susan Spahn of Homosassa; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Agnes M. McCall, mother of Barbara J. Geary of Homosassa, died Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2003, at Havenwood in Concord, N.H.
She was born July 16, 1902, in Lower Onslow, Nova Scotia. She came to the United States in the mid-1920s.
She was graduated from Calgary Teachers College. She came to the United States in the mid-1920s.
She was past matron of Samoset Chapter 109 of Norwood, Mass., and a member of the Church of the Pilgrimage in Plymouth, Mass. She enjoyed knitting and made caps for newborn babies. She also quilted and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles.
She was predeceased by one sister and two brothers.
Survivors include two daughters, Barbara J. Geary of Homosassa and Carol A. Croatti of Merrimack, N.H.; a sister, Lovena Grace Archibald of Windsor, Nova Scotia; brother, Arthur MacElmon of Woodstock, New Brunswick; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces.

Born in Waycross, Ga., she moved to Dunnellon in 1925.
She was a retired postmaster for the U.S. Postal Service at Yankeetown.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Dunnellon and the Inglis-Yankeetown Woman's Club.
Survivors include two sons, Leon Herbert (Pete) Morris Jr. of Citrus Springs and John Edward Morris of Peaceful Acres; one daughter, Martha Eiland of Inglis; one brother, David Brown of Ocala; one sister, Catherine Davis of Vero Beach; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was born Sept. 21, 1908 in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Gustav and Mary (Seim) Reinke, and moved here in 1996.
She was Lutheran.
Mrs. Oakley was preceded in death by her husband, Lester D. Oakley, in October 1995.
Survivors include one son, Don Oakley of Crystal River; three brothers, Albert Reinke of New Hampshire, Edwin Reinke and Henry Reinke, both of Cincinnati, Ohio; two sisters, Dorothy Barwick and Hildegard Stifer of Cincinnati, Ohio; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Gilbert Pletts, 82 Homosassa
Gilbert O. Pletts, 82, Homosassa, died Saturday, Dec. 27, 2003, at home under the care of his family and Hospice of Citrus County.
Mr. Pletts was born Dec. 24, 1921, in Brunswick, Maine, to Dr. Robert C. and Sarah VanStone Pletts. He moved here from Miami in 1980.
While in the U.S. Navy during World War II, he received an air medal for his service as a Navy pilot.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Nancy, and by three brothers.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Mary Anderson Pletts; daughter, Susan Jones and husband, Paul A., of Wilmington, N.C.; brother, Donald C. Pletts of Largo; one grandson; one granddaughter; one great-granddaughter; and numerous nieces and nephews.
At the request of the deceased, there will be no services. The family will gather for memorial services in Bath, Maine, next summer. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Citrus County.
