Ina Jarrett, 86 Inverness
Ina Mae Jarrett, 86, Inverness died Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2003, at Citrus Memorial Hospital following a brief illness.
A native of Prairie, Ind., she was born Jan. 22, 1917, to Ralph and Lula Lane. She moved to Inverness 24 years ago from Rushville, Ind., where she retired from the Hamilton County School System after 37 years as a high school and elementary school teacher.
Mrs. Jarrett was a member of the First Christian Church of Inverness and was an active volunteer with the Family Resource Center.
Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Samuel L. Jarrett of Inverness; two sons, Jonathan L. of Ocala and Timothy L. (Michelle) of Inverness; two sisters, Mildred Jester of Spring Port, Ind., and Carrie Marie Shores of Muncie, Ind.; one grandson; and one great-granddaughter.

Doris Marie McCauley, 88, Beverly Hills, died Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2003, in Dunnellon.
Mrs. McCauley was born in Waterloo, N.Y., and moved here in 1972 from Sidney, N.Y.
She was a retired site manager for the State of Florida Congregate Dining Program.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Dunnellon.
Survivors include a son, Kevin McCauley of Ocala; one daughter, Karen Friend of Newcomb, N.Y.; a brother, Olney Clarke of Redlands, Calif.; and a sister, Carolyn Chalker of Seneca Falls, N.Y.

Richard Conn Sr., 85 Lecanto
Richard F. Conn Sr., 85, Lecanto, died Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2003, at Brentwood Health Care in Lecanto.
He was born Oct. 8, 1918, at Stewartstown, W.Va., the son of Elmer and Nellie Collins Conn. He was a graduate of University High School and attended West Virginia University.
Prior to his retirement in 1974, he was a communications engineer for the U.S. Civil Service. During World War II, he served in both the 8th and 9th Army Air Force in Europe.
He was a past commander of AMVETS Post No. 1, Maryland. He was also a life member of the Elks and VFW.
He was Protestant.
Survivors include two sons, James P. Conn of Hernando and Richard F. Conn Jr. of Germantown, Md.; and one grandson, Kevin Conn.

Santo Joseph Ficara, 61, Floral City, died at his home Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2003, under the care of his family and Hospice of Citrus County.
Born Sept. 26, 1942, in Bronx, N.Y., Mr. Ficara came here 15 years ago from Valrico, where he resided for nine years.
He was the retired owner of Needful Things, a general construction company.
He was Catholic.
Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Barbara (Aloia) Ficara; one son, Michael Ficara of Stark; one daughter, Michelle (Walter) Cook of Dunnellon; and one sister, Rosa Herman.

Ernest J. Force, 67, Beverly Hills, died Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2003, at his home under the care of his family and Hospice of Citrus County.
He was born July 30, 1936, in Uniondale, N.Y., to Arthur and Dolores Force. He moved here in 1984 from Massapequa, L.I., N.Y.
Mr. Force was a retired steeple jacker and worked for Citrus County Parks and Recreation.
Survivors include his brother, John Force (Harriet) of Inverness; and three sisters, Florence Adams of Rippley, Ohio, and Edith Thomas and Marilyn Markiewicz, both of Beverly Hills.

Robert Huffer, 64 Crystal River
Robert Wesley Huffer, 64, Crystal River, died Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2003, at his home.
Born March 22, 1939, in Salem, Ohio, he was the son of Charles and Lucille (Dole) Huffer. He moved here six years ago.
He was a 1957 graduate of Salem High School and was a U.S. Air Force veteran.
Mr. Huffer was a sales manager for 27 years, retiring in 1994. He and his wife enjoyed traveling and had traveled to 48 of the United States.
Survivors include his wife, Donna J. (Schwonke) Huffer whom he married
May 2, 1959; one son, R. Thomas Huffer of Parma, Ohio; three daughters, Tracy L. Rudrick of Columbiana, Ohio, Tami S. Raymer of Charlotte, N.C., and Terri A. Rohaley of Kensington, Ohio; one brother, C. Timothy Huffer of Salem, Ohio; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Jean M. Konya, 81, Beverly Hills, died Thursday, Dec. 18, 2003, in Crystal River.
She was born Aug. 10, 1922, in Patterson, N.J., the daughter of Albert and Mary Gennaro, and moved here from Lakehurst, N.J., in 1998.
Mrs. Konya was a homemaker. In her early years, she was a telephone operator in the state of New Jersey.
She was a past Democratic committeewoman and past member of the Zoning Committee in Pompton Lakes, N.J.
She enjoyed cooking, sewing and singing.
She was Catholic.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Stephen J. Konya; brother, Tony Gennaro and sister, Eleanor DiPeri.
Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Stephen J. and Catherine A. Konya Jr. of Citrus Springs; two daughters and sons-in-law, Maryanne and Richard Evans of Chesterfield, Va., and Tina and Kenneth Book of Towaco, N.J.; six grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; three brothers, Vincent Gennaro of Towaco, N.J., Alexander Gennaro of Hawthorne, N.J., and Albert Gennaro of Center Valley, Pa.; two sisters, Dolly Buckner of Boca Raton and Nancy Held of Patterson, N.J.; and several nieces and nephews.

Kenneth Norris, 84 Crystal River
Kenneth Norris, 84, Crystal River, died Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2003, at Cypress Cove Care Center in Crystal River.
Born May 2, 1919, in Morgantown, Ky., to Finis and Jessie (Hatcher) Norris, he moved here 27 years ago from St. Petersburg.
Mr. Norris retired as owner/operator of Norris & Lake Plumbing Service when he sold the company in 1975. He was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran.
He was a Mason and shared an interest in farming and cattle.
He was a member of the Crystal River United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Norris, June 18, 2000, and son, David Norris, Oct. 24, 2002.
Survivors include his daughter, Norma Hemminger of Lighthouse Point; brothers, Huston Norris of Indiana and Finis Norris of North Carolina; sister, Betty Lewis of Indiana; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Alfred Vassallo, 75 Beverly Hills
Alfred E. Vassallo, 75, Beverly Hills, died Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2003, at his home under the care of his family and Hospice of Citrus County.
He was born Oct. 28, 1928, in Philadelphia, Pa., to Marreo and Teresa Vassallo.
Mr. Vassallo was the owner of the Halfway House Hotel in Allentown, Pa. He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the American Legion in Allentown. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus 4th Degree in Allentown.
He was Christian.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Virginia Vassallo and Teresa Bodley, and three brothers, James, Joseph and Matthew Vassallo.
Survivors include his wife, Jacquelyn Vassallo of Beverly Hills; five daughters, Andrea Cook of Whitehall, Pa., Kimberly Checchio of Northampton, Pa., Michele Hill of Elmire, N.Y., Leslie Yothers of Citrus Springs and Tracy Vassallo of Whitehall, Pa.; two sons, Alfred G. Vassallo Jr. of Slatington, Pa., and Anthony Joseph of Northampton, Pa.; three brothers, Louis Vassallo of Holland, Pa., Vincent Vassallo of Margate, N.J., and Michael Vassallo of Allentown, Pa.; 21 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
