Mary Newton, 86 Lake Placid
Mary Dorothy Newton, 86, Lake Placid, died Saturday, Dec. 13, 2003, at her home.
She was born in Fort Pierce and was a fourth generation pioneering family member of Fort Pierce, and also lived in Okeechobee for 25 years.
She was a member of the Okeechobee Church of God.
Mrs. Newton was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Newton, and son, Ralph Delane Newton.
Survivors include four daughters, Ann "Noveleen" Modine of Inverness, Grace Bonnette (Huey) of Lake Placid, Karen Fletcher of Lehigh Acres and Cindy Paschal of Fort Pierce; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one sister, Loretta Collier of Sebring; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Michael Radzyniak, 89 Crystal River
Michael L. Radzyniak, 89, Crystal River, died Sunday, Dec. 14, 2003, in Crystal River.
Born in Raddock, Pa., to Ludwig and Aniela (Czarniecka) Radzyniak, he moved to Miami in 1947 and to Crystal River in 1987.
Mr. Radzyniak retired after 30 years as a water systems installation specialist with Miller Associates in South Miami.
He was a member of St. Scholastica Roman Catholic Church in Lecanto, the Blanton-Thompson American Legion Post No. 155 in Crystal River and the AARP. He enjoyed golfing and bowling.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Victoria Radzyniak of Crystal River; son, Michael L. Radzyniak and wife, Rita, of Jackson, Miss.; brother, Edward Radzyniak of Ohio; sisters, Mary McNulty, Chessie Radzyniak and Ann McNulty all of Swissvale, Pa., and Cecelia Larson of Munhall, Pa.; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces.

Virgil Sallee, 70 Homosassa
Virgil Clifton Sallee, 70, Homosassa, died Sunday, Dec. 14, 2003, at home.
He was born May 5, 1933, in Wilmore, Ky., and moved here 17 years ago from Lexington, Ky.
Mr. Sallee was a retired chief petty officer in the U.S. Navy and was a member of the American Legion Post 400 of Orlando; the VFW Post 15010 of Lexington, Ky.; the West Citrus Elks Lodge No. 2693; and the National Fleet Reserve Association.
He was Methodist.
Survivors include his companion, JoAnn Shields of Homosassa; two sons; one daughter; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Dorothy W. Shipman, 80, Homosassa, died Friday, Dec. 12, 2003, in Homosassa.
Born Nov. 26, 1923, in Quincy to Thomas and Donnie (Wynn) Weatherly, she moved here in 1987 from Valrico.
Mrs. Shipman was a retired accountant for the state of Florida.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Lanier Shipman, July 3, 1999.
Survivors include grand nephew, Bill Sale of Tallahassee; and brother-in-law, James A. Shipman of Gainesville.

Lionel Sidlin, 79 Hernando
Lionel Sidlin, 79, Citrus Hills, Hernando, died Saturday, Dec. 13, 2003, in Inverness.
Born Jan. 21, 1924, in London, England to Abraham and Rosa Sidlin, he moved here from Bartlett, Ill., in 1991.
Mr. Sidlin was vice president and personnel director for Eaton Corporation for more than 25 years.
He served in the Royal Air Force during World War II.
Mr. Sidlin was a member of Citrus Hills Country Club Men's Golf League and was an avid golfer.
He was Jewish.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Alma (Roffey) Sidlin of Citrus Hills; two sons and daughters-in-law, David B. Sidlin (Mary Ann) of Park Ridge, Ill., and Jeffrey A. Sidlin (Eiko) of Elgin, Ill.; two brothers, Lou Sidlin of Beckenham, Kent, England, and Ben Sidlin of Palm Beach; and three grandchildren, Ken, Mishka and Mia Sidlin, all of Elgin, Ill.

Martin Stoehr, 79 Inverness
Martin Gerald Stoehr, 79, Inverness, died Saturday, Dec. 13, 2003, in Inverness.
Born Aug. 16, 1924, in Altoona, Pa., to Fredrick and Mae Stoehr, he moved here in 1988 from Clearwater.
Mr. Stoehr was a senior draftsman. He attended ACHS, graduated in 1942 and received the Joe Cohen Blanket award. He entered the military service in 1943, serving during World War II (106th Infantry Division), was captured by Germans in the Battle of the Bulge, and remained a POW until released in March 1945.
He was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, Inverness.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Fr. Edward Stoehr, and a sister, Genevieve Stoehr Huber.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Dorthy J. (Bottomfield) Stoehr of Inverness; two sons, Marty Stoehr of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Curt J. Stoehr of Lake George, Colo.; two daughters, Ronnie Stoehr Stanley of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Cherie Jones of Port Richey; two brothers, Bernard E. Stoehr and Vincent Stoehr both of Altoona, Pa.; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Thada Tommaso, 84 Inverness
Thada M. Tommaso, 84, Inverness, died at home Monday, Dec. 15, 2003, under the care of her family and Hospice.
A native of Centerville, Ala., she was born June 25, 1919, to Dee and Clara Morrison Sr. She moved to Inverness from Clearwater.
Mrs. Tommaso was a retired insurance analyst and secretary for the Associated Doctors Insurance Co.
She was a member of St. Scholastica Parish in Lecanto.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Joyce Sablone, March 20, 2001; and a grandson, Stephen Sablone Jr., April 28, 1992.
Survivors include her husband of 59 years, John A. Tommaso of Inverness; son-in-law, Stephen F. Sablone Sr. of Inverness; brother, Lindsey Morrison of Birmingham, Ala.; sisters, Evelyn Carroll of Woodstock, Ala., and Betty Mones of West Blocton, Ala.; one grandson; and two great-grandchildren.

Gerald Biggs, 91 Inverness
Gerald Earl Biggs, 91, Inverness, died Monday, Dec. 15, 2003, at the Inverness Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
Born April 26, 1912, in Jefferson, Ind., to Earl C. and Emma (Young) Biggs, he moved here after he was discharged from the Army in 1946.
Mr. Biggs formerly owned and operated The Laundromat in Inverness for more than 20 years.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include two nieces, Patricia Duffy of Palm Coast and Jane Duffy of Sconset, Mass.
A memorial service will be announced in January 2004.

Barbara Ruth "BB" Bridge, 74, Citrus Hills, Hernando, died Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2003, at Citrus Memorial Hospital in Inverness.
Born Dec. 19, 1928, in East Boston, Mass., she moved here 13 years ago from Burlington, Mass.
Mrs. Bridge was a retired school cafeteria food preparer.
She was Catholic.
Survivors include her husband of 47 years, Walter E. Bridge; two sons, Walter E. Bridge Jr. of Citrus Hills and John W. Bridge of Arlington, Mass.; one daughter, Jean Watson of Inverness; and four grandchildren.
